New Gyllene Tider single out in January

Written by tevensso on December 27, 2004 to .

STOCKHOLM (UPDATED) - Both Aftonbladet and Expressen have met Per Gessle to summarize 2004. In Aftonbladet Per says he will be back in 2006 with new material, “so everyone else should cancel that summer” he says laughing. Expressen writes that a new Gyllene Tider single will be released in January, and that the old albums possibly will be repackaged and put out again, without bonus tracks. Also the documentary DVD mentioned earlier, after that Gyllene Tider goes back to the back burner again. “Quite honestly I’m really sick of Gyllene Tider now and it’s good if that group gets some rest. I’m a solo or a duo man.”

Per may instead record another solo album in English, as he needs to find a way to renew himself. “I’m sure an album will be out in 2005, I can’t rest much.”

Per Gessle has never experienced a fever like 2004, he’s sold over 43 million albums, but nothing beats the tour this summer. “I’ve never seen a fever like this, not in any context. It’s totally unique and will be hard to beat, for all of us.” Per says.

Update: The new single is “Jag borde förstås vetat bättre” with the b-sides being the T&A demos of “Speciell” and “Tuffa tider”. The sleeve will be something really special: a sun-bleached photo from 1966 of the Gessle family’s red brick house in Furet in Halmstad, with a little tyke standing in front of it wearing yellow pajamas “eagerly awaiting the Dumle lollipop of the day.”

“Gyllene Tider sold too many records”

Written by tevensso on December 9, 2004 to .

STOCKHOLM - “No more mr. Nice Guy,” Anders Nunstedt, columnist at Expressen writes. This week he stabs the most overrated albums of the year in the back. He doesn’t mean anything bad with it, really, it’s just that the most overrated albums of this year must be selected…

Gyllene Tider’s “Finn 5 fel!” tops his list. Anders comments “Oddly enough the weakest tracks of the album, “Tuffa tider” and “Solsken” became the singles, and that makes the album bleaker. A quarter million copies sold are, in spite of the pop craftsmanship, unreasonably many.”

  Anders Nunstedt’s list in full:

1. Gyllene Tider: “Finn 5 fel!”

2. The Libertines: “The Libertines”

3. Mattias Alkberg BD: “Tunaskolan”

4. Jens Lekman: “When I Said I Wanted to be Your Dog”

5. Dizzee Rascal: “Showtime”

6. Usher: “Confessions”

7. Joss Stone: “Mind, Body & Soul”

8. Nerd: “Fly or Die”

9. Di Leva: “Tiden faller”

10. Loretta Lynn: “Van Lear Rose”

And the winner is...

Written by tevensso on December 1, 2004 to .

STOCKHOLM - In the sleeve of the triple platinum selling album “Finn 5 fel!” there was a contest, and now the winner has been selected. Cecilia Gyllin from Kungälv is the happy winner, who received her very own platinum award yesterday at a dinner with Gyllene Tider!

Museum auctions off Gyllene Tider exhibition items

Written by ATLTK on November 29, 2004 to .

HALMSTAD - The Halmstad museum auctioned off several items from the last summer’s Gyllene Tider exhibition on Thursday. On sale were items that were either made by the museum or were acquired for the exhibition.

Hallands Auktionsverk, the auction house, was quite crowded but there weren’t that many Gyllene Tider fans. Only 12-15 people had come only to attend the Gyllene Tider auction. However, the auctioneer seemed to be really happy that so many young people had come to the auction.

Auctioned items included Gyllene Tider photos as well as five sculpted hands holding items “supposedly” discovered in an archelogical dig, including Per’s pen, Micke Syd’s drum stick and MP’s guitar pick. One of the most expensive items was a GT flag that reached 600 SEK (67 Euros) and Per Gessle’s autograph on a big yellow blanket that reached 1,000 SEK (112 Euros). Other members’ signatures were between 200-300 SEK (22-33 Euros). They also had three records for sale: two copies of the yellow “Billy” ep and one Peter Pop and the Helicopters single.

According to Hallandsposten, the auction raised 35,000 SEK (about 3,900 Euros). The proceeds will go to the training of the museum staff.

Gessle: “Our new CD will be a real power-pop bomb!”

Written by tevensso on October 29, 2004 to .

STOCKHOLM - As previously reported by The Daily Roxette, Gyllene Tider will release a live DVD, and live CD this fall - “En scen vid en plats i en stad.” What’s new is that the CD is now mixed and ready. “It sounds like overkill [releasing both a CD and a DVD], but it isn’t,” Per Gessle says. “For the album we sat down and listened to the ten best gigs this summer. Then we chose the best songs from these, and removed all ballads. It will be a real power-pop bomb!” he says laughing.

From what The Daily Roxette remembers there weren’t really any ballads this summer so we’ll see how it looks like…

“En scen vid en plats i en stad” new Gyllene Tider CD/DVD

Written by Jud on October 21, 2004 to .

STOCKHOLM (UPDATED) - Capitol Records reports that Gyllene Tider will release a live DVD on November 24 - “En scen vid en plats i en stad” (“A Stage at a Place in a City”), later this fall a live CD with the same name will be available in the stores as well. When The Daily Roxette met Per Gessle this summer he hinted at the possibility of releasing a live CD.

While the DVD will feature the concert at Ullevi in full along with some nice extras, the album – a double-CD – will cover the whole tour. “We knew the tour would be a success so we recorded all the concerts. Anything else would have been stupid,” explains Anders Herrlin.

Right now Per Gessle, Clarence Öfwerman, Christoffer Lundquist and Anders are mixing the songs for the live album. “We have mixed two songs so far. It is a total nightmare because there are so many concerts to go through,” explains Anders. The plan is to include the songs in the same order they were played during the tour, including Per Gessle’s solo song “Här kommer alla känslorna (på en och samma gång).”

“Find 5 errors!” the band demanded in June. With 492,252 people attending the concerts it became the second biggest summer tour in Europe. Seems there weren’t so many errors after all…
