Roxette World Tour 2011 schedule

Per Gessle and Ryan Adams?

Written by tevensso on January 17, 2008 to .

STOCKHOLM - In several articles on the web one can read that Ryan Adams has been working with "Per Gessle, the guitarist of Roxette," in Stockholm. Per himself does not know that he has been working with Adams: "Maybe he's been working with MP?"

Further investigation by The Daily Roxette finds that Adams has been in Nord Studios, in part owned by Micke "Nord" Andersson, who indeed was Roxette's guitarist on the world tour '94-'95. When The Daily Roxette asks Per about this, Per replies "Gee, I don't know, perhaps Micke said he was me?"

Due to the new real estate taxation law in Sweden effective January 1 a few Swedes can rejoice in huge tax reliefs. Among those is Per Gessle who tops the list and will have 123,000 Swedish kronor (13,000 €) more to shop with. Per Gessle is nowadays apparently a "former pop star" according to the Swedish article.

No Rockbjörnen for Per

STOCKHOLM - It seems Per Gessle isn't "cool" enough to receive votes in Aftonbladet's Rockbjörnen anymore - Per is nominated in zero categories this time. Most of the artists nominated have been seen on Idol or similar TV competitions.

“Att vara Per Gessle” - a review

Written by tevensso on December 7, 2007 to , and .

LJUSDAL - Per Gessle approved this biography to be written by old friend and journalist Sven Lindström when Marie Fredriksson was diagnosed with cancer. He felt that his story should be told while the people he had been hanging out with were still alive. Immediately the idea came up to use the quotation-technique used in the book "Please kill me," which both Sven and Per regard as a major inspiration. Sven drafted a few pages and sent to Per who immediately changed his mind, he didn't want people talking about him!
Then both Marie and Rolf at EMI got sick, so Per changed his mind again, and here we are!

New recording by Son of a Plumber

Written by tevensso on November 28, 2007 to .

STOCKHOLM (Updated) - Son of a Plumber has, together with Per Gessle, recorded the new theme song for Swedish TV program "Boston Tea Party." "Boston Tea Party" is a show about finding strange things out, like how human flesh tastes like… "Many will see this as a new chapter of Per Gessle's musical career. I can't place this tune in a genre, but it sounds like how it would look when riding a limo through New York way too fast," says Fredrik Wikingsson, one of the show's two hosts.

The tune is called "Shopping With Mother" and will be premiered in the season finale of the show at the end of November. What's even better is that the tune will be released as a double A-sided single together with two remixes by Voz Vibrante. Voz Vibrante is a pseudonym for Erik Hjärpe, from the band Damn!, you can find some of his work at MySpace. Voz has remixed "Shopping With Mother" in two different versions - the Voz Vibrante remix and the Mother's Dub by Voz Vibrante.

Voz's style of music is fast fusion and electric funk, while the tune itself can be described best as a cross between a '60s Bond theme with some Star Trek and general '60s pop in it. Does it sound crazy? It is.

The double A-sided single will be released November 28, with the slightly edited version of "Pratar med min müsli" from Per's hit album "En händig man" as the other A-side, a little later than expected, but now released to the public.

Update: Per tells us there will be a video for "Shopping with Mother," directed by Jens Jansson!

Per and family featured in calendar against street violence

Written by robban on November 14, 2007 to .

STOCKHOLM - Per Gessle with family Åsa and Gabriel are in Caroline Roosmark's 2008 calendar "The Women and Men of the Year 2008." This year's edition is dedicated to 16 year old Riccardo Campogiani who was meaninglessly killed on the streets October 7, 2007. "Per usually doesn't do things like these," Caroline says, "but this time he's been very into it. He spent days picking out a good wig!"

As you can see Per, "pop legend," is dressed in a Mozartesque style, with a "guitar" of course (It's called a lute.) He is in May's picture.

You can order the calendar at Caroline's site, 15 SEK of every calendar will go to the foundation of Riccardo Campogiani's memory. The Daily Roxette does not know if Caroline ships outside of Sweden.
