Roxette World Tour 2011 schedule

Anderstorp canceled

Written by tevensso on July 8, 2010 to and . Source: SR.

(Updated) - According to SR (Swedish Radio) The Race Legends at Anderstorp Raceway has been canceled due to too few tickets sold and debts totalling over 3 million SEK. (300000 €). Local businesses have been encouraged to buy tickets to support the whole happening, but apparently that hasn't worked out as planned. This means of course that the Roxette concert August 14 is canceled as well. Urban Stamming, CEO of The Race Legends, points to a press statement that will be published "tomorrow".

So far there's no information regarding ticket returns, but The Daily Roxette suggests you talk to whoever sold you the tickets.

Update: Now The Race Legends homepage says the race isn't canceled, but moved to next year. No tickets are refunded. The Daily Roxette highly doubts this goes for Roxette.

Update 2: Biljett.nu is still selling tickets to the gig since "it still hasn't been officially canceled." Biljett.nu also points to the statement that will be released tomorrow.

Update 3: "We need to have all relevant information before making a statement so if everybody could please just have some patience while we figure things out," comments Marie Dimberg, d&d management, manager of Roxette.

Roxette performed “The Look”

Written by tevensso on June 18, 2010 to .

On royal request Roxette performed "The Look" before Crown Princess Victoria and soon-to-be-prince Daniel and most of Scandinavia's and Europe's royalty tonight. The occasion was the Swedish parliament's concert-gift to the couple. This reporter does not lie when he says that most of the audience looked quite thrilled when  Roxette, which came on last, rocked the house, literally! People were standing, clapping their hands and singing along.
Marie ended the song going into The Beatles' "Hey Jude" as she started to do during Night of the Proms.

(Updated) - The Norwegian newspaper Aftenbladet reported yesterday that Roxette will perform in Viste Strand pop festival in Stavanger August 21. The pop festival "Den store sommerfesten" ("The Big Summer Fest") is arranged for the fourth time.

According to one of the organizers, Per Vervik, this will appeal to people throughout the Rogaland southern county as well as pop fans far beyond the country borders. He also points out that it will be an outdoor concert as well as the only Roxette performance in Norway.

"Per Gessle knows what it takes to capture listeners' attention with his songs. In addition, Marie Fredriksson is a brilliant vocalist and together they have played themselves into people's minds", says Per Vervik to the journal.

He continues to add that Roxette will go to Randaberg with a full band and full stage production, just as the other gigs in Sweden and Russia. 8000 tickets will go on sale Friday March 5 09.00 on www.billettservice.no  and the cost is between 550NOK and 850 NOK (€68-105).

Per comments on Roxette.se:

It feels fab to start the new year announcing live concerts by Roxette. Both Moscow and St Petersburg should be great fun! And if we're all lucky there's even more to come. By the way, the new recordings are going great, we'll continue sweatin' it out for the next six months or so. You'll find videos/pics from the recordings on Snowfish.

Cheers, P.

Roxette to play Anderstorp

Written by tevensso on January 28, 2010 to and . Source: Aftonbladet.

(Updated) - Roxette will play Anderstorp Raceway August 14, for the Race Legends. The stadium holds 45,000 spectators. "Roxette hasn't played Sweden since 2001, it feels great to be on stage in Sweden again. This will be extra fun, since I've raced there myself several times" says Per Gessle. Urban Stamming, CEO The Race Legends, says "This is the first and, as far as I know, only concert Roxette will do in Sweden this year. Roxette is a dream come true for us. Per is excited as he is very interested in racing!" The concert will last 1.5 h says the CEO.

Everyone that has bought tickets for the race will be able to see the concert. There will also be a very limited number of tickets sold for the concert only. Racing tickets are from 800 SEK and up.

Update: The Daily Roxette has managed to get hold of Per for a short interview.

So Per, Anderstorp, it must be like the mothership is calling you home?

Yes sir - when a racing track calls out for you you just have to answer!! (Sounds like a pop song, doesn't it?) I visited their race legends event two years ago and had a great time. This year it looks like they're gonna have loads of really really fantastic old Formula One drivers attending the race among many other things. So it will be a special set up for a Roxette concert for sure.

Hmm, yeah, a song that's already written… Why did you pick this place?

We're slowly but surely trying to get Roxette back on track. This is one of several major things we're gonna do this year and it feels perfect to kick it in on home turf. And, you know, the recordings of a new album have already started. 2010 is off to a good start.

It's a big race track, isn't it?

Yes, I've heard that they can hold 45,000 people around the track. However, I think the capacity is around 8-10,000 where we're gonna play.

Is it true you will play an entire full length show?

Yes, it will be a "real" Roxette concert. I can't say how long it will be though, we'll decide during rehearsals. But we expect something like 60-70 minutes. And I'm sure there will be more artists announced pretty soon. If the weather's good it will be a magic night.

The CEO says this will be Roxette's only gig in Sweden 2010, can you verify this, or will there be others?

I don't know at this point, a year is very long. It's definitely the only one confirmed as I'm writing this…

Will there be any surprises for the audience?

I guess just the fact that we're doing a concert is a surprise to most people!!!
