Marie working on a new site

Written by tevensso on March 14, 2008 to and .

STOCKHOLM - It seems Marie Fredriksson is working on a new site. Where her old site used to be is now an autograph and a message saying that a new site is in the works. There are logos of MaryJane Music, d&d management and T/R (TransmitReceive). T/R being the company that manages Per Gessle's sites.

On a side note: SCM is offering at their merchandise-shop.se Marie's new art book "Ett bord i solen" for 345 SEK (36.50 EUR, not including postage) as well as Marie's previous art book "After the Change" for 295 SEK (31.20 EUR, not including postage).

Thanks Mikael Bolyos for the book tip!

STOCKHOLM (Updated) - Per Gessle seems to be in a great mood lately, here's another note from The Man:

Another day, another record!

Spent the afternoon, sipping coffee and eating English muffins at Cutting Room meanwhile mastering the demo-CD. What does it sound like, someone asked on the bus? Well, it sounds like… hmmm… like a demo-CD!

We’ve managed to squeeze in three additional tracks so now the entire album can be enjoyed in its early glory! This is the final running order:

9. Detective Jones (Feb 29, 1996)
10. Beautiful things, terrible things (Apr 7, 1996)
11. Elvis in Deutschland (Apr 26, 1996)
12. Makin’ love to you (acoustic version) (June 9, 1996)

The World gets updated; more tracks changed

Written by tevensso on March 11, 2008 to , and .

STOCKHOLM - The Daily Roxette received a message from a guy who spoke of The World around 11 years ago:

Just came home from a swell mastering afternoon at Cutting Room. To my surprise EMI have managed to locate the rejected Battery studios-mixes, made by Michael Ilbert in London in December 1996. Can hardly remember this…. but… I recall that Michael was very ill with a bad stomach throughout the week and I thought the studio was way too far away from my hotel in the posh areas so I didn't pay attention that much….. anyway… as you might know we only used the "There is my baby"-mix on the record. However, listening to the Battery mixes today both Clarence and I found them superior to the Mono Studio-mixes (made in January 1997) that we did use on the album… so…. we decided to change for this re-release. Which means you'll get "new" mixes on three tracks; "Elvis in Germany", "I'll be alright" & "T-t-t-take it!". Surprise.
P.

Gessle writes for new singer

Written by tevensso on March 7, 2008 to and .

GOTHENBURG - Swedish singer Caroline Larsson, hailing from Gothenburg, has gotten not one, but two songs from Per Gessle for her new album "In the Moment" which is due for release in May. "Per likes my voice, it has something special" Caroline says and continues, "Roxette was my biggest idol when I was a kid [Caroline is 21] and I have an incredible respect for Per." The first single "Hold on My Heart (Hey, It's Alright)" is already out to radio stations in Sweden. The song is at the moment a contender for the Svensktoppen chart. Hardcore fans may recognize the title and yes, the song was released by Dutch reality TV-band K-otic a few years back.

The other song Per has given Caroline is "Rainclouds," released in France by Popstar winners What For, then named "Depuis La Nuit des Temps." "In the Moment" is produced by Peter Samuelsson, bass player and singer in Barbados. Listen to a snippet of "Hold on My Heart" by clicking on the link.

Caroline will stay in touch with Per. "We'll see what happens in the future."

The tumor changed Marie’s life

Written by tevensso on February 10, 2008 to . Source: TV4.

STOCKHOLM - In an open hearted interview with TV4's Lasse Bengtsson Marie Fredriksson reveals that the tumor took away her sight on the right eye. "I bump into things all the time, it takes a long time to get used to," Marie says to Lasse. Marie also says that she finally got a clean bill of health last summer, and that's when everything changed, she became a new person. When the cancer was at its worst Marie almost didn't have the energy to get out of bed, let alone write! "The worst thing was that I didn't even want to sing. It's definitely a kick to be back." However, these last years the singing and writing have been secondary to her new art form - drawing. Marie says it's a world of difference. "I've been singing all my life, I did that part already. This is the total freedom."

This time around Marie has used colors in her drawings, but confides in Lasse that she's already sick of colors and that she constantly goes back to charcoal. "It's different day to day" she giggles.

When Lasse asks about Roxette Marie says she lives in the now, and enjoys that immensely, but also tells him that she and Per discuss possible Roxette projects constantly. She definitely thinks that Roxette will do something in the future. The doors are still not closed. "Maybe something smaller, I mean the stages were so huge and I ran across them! I was crazy back then" Marie says and laughs.

Ett bord i solen - Marie’s second exhibition

Written by tevensso on February 8, 2008 to .

STOCKHOLM - Marie Fredriksson opened her second exhibition today - Ett bord i solen - at the same gallery as last time. The gallery formerly known as Dr Glas is now called So Stockholm and is located at Kungsträdgården in Stockholm. The exhibition will be open until February 17 and the gallery is open Monday thru Friday 11:00-17:30 and Saturday, Sunday 13:00-16:00.

Like last time there's a limited edition book (300 copies) sold exclusively at the gallery. The book contains six pictures of Marie and some text plus pictures of 37 pieces of art.

The vernissage was held yesterday, February 7 and the invitation was a very limited CD single with the song "Ett bord i solen." Many of the pieces were sold yesterday. Prices range, according to The Daily Roxette's source, from 20,000 kronor to more than 40,000 kronor. (Roughly 2000€ to 4000€.) This art is described as very similar to last time, only with the addition of colors.

Marie will appear on TV4's Nyhetsmorgon tomorrow morning at approximately 9:30.

Per Gessle and Ryan Adams?

Written by tevensso on January 17, 2008 to .

STOCKHOLM - In several articles on the web one can read that Ryan Adams has been working with "Per Gessle, the guitarist of Roxette," in Stockholm. Per himself does not know that he has been working with Adams: "Maybe he's been working with MP?"

Further investigation by The Daily Roxette finds that Adams has been in Nord Studios, in part owned by Micke "Nord" Andersson, who indeed was Roxette's guitarist on the world tour '94-'95. When The Daily Roxette asks Per about this, Per replies "Gee, I don't know, perhaps Micke said he was me?"

Per, the “former pop star,” gets tax cuts

Written by tevensso on January 15, 2008 to . Source: GP | E24.

Due to the new real estate taxation law in Sweden effective January 1 a few Swedes can rejoice in huge tax reliefs. Among those is Per Gessle who tops the list and will have 123,000 Swedish kronor (13,000 €) more to shop with. Per Gessle is nowadays apparently a "former pop star" according to the Swedish article.
