Roxette song title “borrowed” for new album
Written by chachi on February 16, 2002 to Misc.
An upcoming album from Supersuckers, a Blues-grunge band from Tucson, Arizona is entitled “Must’ve Been Live” an apparent paraphrasing of Roxette’s “It Must Have Been Love.” No other connection seems to exist between the album and Roxette.
“Centre of the Heart” included on Sony Playstation game

TONALA (MEXICO) - It was unmistakable. Walking down a crowded aisle in a street fair here in Mexico, the sound of “Nah, nah, nah, Nah, nah, nah…” coming from a vendor’s booth. “That’s Roxette!” I said to my friends.
It turns out the song was not coming from some pirated CD, which I had expected, but instead from a Konami Playstation game called “Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix” that is a kind of disco dance simulation. “Centre of the Heart” was one of the options for the player to “dance” to.

STOCKHOLM - Roxette won a special award at the Swedish Grammis gala this evening… a governmental export prize. Marie was there and accepted the award.
Roxette’s record label revamping name, restructuring
Written by roxeteer on February 10, 2002 to Music Business.
LONDON - Roxette’s forthcoming releases won’t be on the EMI-branded label anymore. The UK-based EMI Group is streamlining its company structure and as a result, one of its labels, EMI Records, will be renamed Capitol. EMI Group’s other labels, including Virgin and EMI Classics, will keep their old name and brand.
Another part of the restructuring is that all local EMI offices will start using a similar organization chart, with a single managing director and externalized back-office operations.
2002 Swedish travel brochure features Roxette
Written by Lars-Erik_Olson on February 1, 2002 to Roxette.
NEW YORK - One of the arguments used in the campaign to save the T&A studio from demolition, was that the Halmstad/Halland area needed to understand that Roxette fans from around the world help boost the economy there by visiting the various “Roxsites.” Apparently, the Swedish Travel & Tourism Council here agrees.
In the 2002 edition of their travel brochure, “A Taste of Sweden,” Roxette is mentioned on three separate pages.
The table of contents page includes a photo of Roxette (along with two other photos not shown here) to help identify the “South Sweden” section. Then, in the introduction, they write “Nobel, Bergman, ABBA, IKEA, Roxette, Pippi Longstocking, Volvo, SAAB, Ericsson, Greta Garbo and Björn Borg – all have played their part in giving Sweden its strong profile on the world scene.”
And on page 8: “…It’s a favorite area for golfers, and Tylösand is reckoned to be among the best of the many courses. Halland is also the home region of the top rock group Roxette.”
DO WHAT YOU WANT BUT HARM NO ONE; TDR fund-raising campaign will benefit orphaned children
Written by administrator on January 27, 2002 to The Daily Roxette.
It’s been over four months since terrorists attacked the World Trade Center, yet people around the world – not just in New York – continue to grieve… and continue to feel victimized.
Amongst the greatest tragedies of that day, is the fact that hundreds of children became orphans. We here at The Daily Roxette – who along with many of our readers and Roxette themselves – were deeply affected by the events of September 11th, believe there are still lives to be saved: the lives of these children.
Wanting to make a difference, we’ve decided to support the Twin Towers Orphans Fund with a three-part, TDR-sponsored fund raising campaign. We’ve selected this particular charity because 100 percent of the funds they receive go directly to help raise the kids who lost one or both parents that day – and because we know that both Per and Marie themselves consider raising children a high priority in their own lives.
To begin this campaign amongst Roxette fans worldwide, we’re announcing the availability of a limited edition t-shirt, available only to our registered subscribers. 100 percent of the proceeds from the distribution of these shirts will go to help these children.
In an obvious reference to the events of September 11, Per and Marie had Jonas Åkerlund add the tag line “DO WHAT YOU WANT BUT HARM NO ONE” to an otherwise dark screen at the end of each of the “Room Service” concerts. It’s that slogan that you’ll see in white across the chest area of your solid black, heavy cotton t-shirt.
We’re asking our readers to contribute a minimum of USD $15 for each shirt (postage and handling included). If you can afford to contribute more… great! Our goal, of course, is to raise as much money as possible. You can get your t-shirt by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. Further ordering information will be sent by reply e-mail. Read more…
After a decade, Rox-related trio Triad makes a comeback
Written by PerAndren on January 27, 2002 to Gyllene Tider.
STOCKHOLM - After more than ten years, the trio Triad is making a comeback. They are best known for their Swedish Christmas song “Tänd Ett Ljus” (“Light a Candle”), that was a big hit in 1988. It sold over 50,000 copies, making it a Platinum record.
Triad is composed of (from left to right) Janne Bark (he played guitar during Gyllene’s Heartland Café Tour), Niklas Strömstedt (an old friend of Per, tributes on some Gyllene Tider songs), and Lasse Lindbom (Gyllene Tider’s “famous” producer). [photo courtesy EMI Sweden]
The trio has recently appeared on Swedish TV4’s “Bingolotto.”
“Rockbjörn” award goes to Lambretta; not Roxette
Written by Lars-Erik_Olson on January 27, 2002 to Roxette.
STOCKHOLM - While Roxette was nominated in the Swedish Group-of-the-Year category, the golden “Rockbjörn” (Rock Bear) statuette was awarded to Lambretta, a group that has done very well on the dance/pop charts this past year, in ceremonies at the Cirkus theatre in Skansen.
