“The Change” - new album by Marie Fredriksson

STOCKHOLM (UPDATED) - Marie Fredriksson is back after two years of medication and darkness (and it’s been eight years since her last release, not counting the greatest hits album “Äntligen”)! Together with her husband Micke Bolyos, Marie has transformed sorrow and pain into lyrics and music, full of vital power and confidence.


  Her new solo album, “The Change,” will be released in Sweden on October 27 with the first single “2nd Chance” – a love song that took Marie only ten minutes to write the lyrics for – out on October 6. “A second chance… that’s exactly how I feel when I wake up. I’m eternally grateful for every day,” Marie says.


  “Making ’The Change’ feels like a victory to me. An incredible cool and fantastic feeling that’s hard to describe in words,” Marie Fredriksson says in a press statement released today and sent to The Daily Roxette.


  Marie has had thoughts and plans of a solo album in English for a long while. “Suddenly it felt necessary to do this. I wanted to share emotions and experiences from our worst time. There were moments where I thought I didn’t have the strength to finish the work, but I got by, little by little.”


  For the album Marie and Micke gathered their favorite musicians; Staffan Astner, guitars; Peter Forss, bass; Nicci Notini, drums. Magnus Lindgren and Micke are responsible for most string arrangements on the album. Micke has also produced “The Change” and additionally he plays the keyboards.


  This is an international release, but the release dates in the various countries are different and not yet set.

@coyboyusa: I’ve learnt that downloading MP3s of Roxette - and related artists - destroys the “magic” of the first listening of the album. I swear I won’t download it! This is an album I’ve longed for a long time. Since 1999 when I met Marie in a TV show here in São Paulo. At that time I was amazed by the quality of “Waiting for the rain” and asked her if she intended to record a solo album in English. She told me that her main focus was Roxette. Well, five years later we have The Change!

I was on cloud nine when I went to sleep last night as you can imagine :) :)

Just thought about the past two years and how it seemed at one point that we would never get to this stage and just remembering the horror of finding out about her cancer and then never hearing anything and wondering then we got all this Per and Gyllene Tider stuff (not that I minded) but then finally yesterday the news that I had dreamed about for two years came true.

It funny but at this point I’ve hardly even thought about the music how it will sound, what it will be like etc...I’m just so overjoyed to see Marie smiling and doing what she does best again.

We can all learn so much from Marie’s situation and just be greatful for every day, every moment and this my friends is a beautiful moment that I will never forget...The return of out star MARIE FREDRIKSSON :) :) :) :)

We will be behind you the whole way :)

Well I had a dream a few days ago that I was surfing the Daily roxette and there was an article about Marie, I can’t remeber the details but I think it was bad news. Usually I never remember dreams for long but this one stuck in my mind.

Anyway the shock I got when I visited TDR today, to see it was good news, well I was jumping up and down with hands in the air...

Can’t wait for the album.

Nice to see that Marie is back, but am I the only one not that excited about this? I got into Roxette because of Pers songwriting and composing abilities. I definitely hope it will NOT be like a Roxette album! I really want this to have heart and meaning which is evident in Marie’s other solo work. Yeah I know it might not be instant pop like Per writes but often even if the songs take a few listens they don’t wear out as quick as a bubble gum song :)

Yesterday the news were also announced on SWR3, quite a big radio station in Germany... Hope they also release the album in Switzerland (otherwise it’s not too far for me to go to Germany ;-) )

I´ve been so lucky since I heard about the news and the whole weekend I´ve been walking around with a smile on my lips.
Per said in the beginning of the summer that Marie was going to release her new album this autumn, but I didn´t really dare to think it was true. And now she is finally back and she looks so good! There have been two years of horror but now we all can breathe again.
I like Marie Dimberg´s comment in the article in Aftonbladet when asked about Marie´s health: “She feels great”!
