She’s got nothing on (but the radio)
What she got she got to give it to somebody
What she got she got to give it to someone
It’s not a case of growin’ up or lots of money
It’s just the fundamental twist of the sun
What she got she got to let somebody find it (- “Really?”)
What she got is not for her to keep alone (- “Oh!”)
Nobody’s got a clue if there is such a reason (- “Yea?”)
Why she wanna play it o-on her own
She’s got nothing on but the radio
She’s a passion play
And like the break of day
She takes my breath away
What she got she got to give to some contender
What she got is just like gold dust on a shelf
And no one’s got a clue what’s on her brave agenda
Why she wanna keep it keep it to herself
She’s got nothing on but the radio
It’s a passion play
And like the break of day
She takes my breath away
Who did the painting on my wall?
Who left a poem down the hall?
Oh I don’t understand at all, he-he-hey

Lyrics as we like ’em! Thank you! The press release said this song was written “this autumn”, but the lyrics are from August 2009... Can somebody shed light on this?
So the snippet is from the part I imagined, 2nd half of 1st verse. Would love to know who sings what of the rest!
CoyRoy said on December 25, 2010 14:45:
The song doesn’t really say anything fundamental, but the lyrics shure are a LOT of fun!!!

The lyrics without a special meaning are funny and the advantage is, it’s up to you, which meaning you assign to them! :D

Seriously, tevensso...a Roxette release it’s a historical event if you consider the context...we haven’t contemplated this possibility for a very long time, almost 10 years. If someone misbehave, it’s simple now...you already have the ’precedents’, zap the bloody disturber off and it’s ok.

it’s such a word twist I really doubt marie sings much of the song if she does lol I imagine she got tongue twisted alot sheesh.....
so say we all
DEFAULT_GREEN said on December 25, 2010 20:37:
I think Marie will sing this part:
Who did the painting on my wall?
Who left a poem down the hall?
Oh I don’t understand at all, he-he-hey
just like in june afternoon...
it is obvious the song is about a pretty girl that is not giving herself to a guy, suggesting it is a waste to be a pretty girl and not giving yourself to a guy... Like the best cake every baked but you cant eat it

cool. lots of people say, they are learning english with roxette songs ... good luck with this one ;-)
looking forward to “sing along” those crazy lyrics ...

The lyrics sound great... Ilike the idea that there is a middle eight, as I imagine that the “Who did the painting on my wall?...” is! If it’s 3 minutes long it would be great, really short and effective:)) Can’t wait to here it!
abysmo said on December 25, 2010 22:11:
Lenght is 3:36 according to Amazon. We all love middle8s. :)

Middle8 = bridge. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridge_(music))
Some of best Rox bridges:
Almost Unreal...
It’s a crazy world out there
Let’s hope our prayers are in good hands tonight.
Run To You...
Take a walk inside my dream
a church a lonely road
all the people come and go and come and go.
Sleeping In My Car...
The night is so pretty and so young
the night is so pretty and so young
so very young...

According to our upcoming interview with Per the middle 8 is sung by Marie.
joyrider said on December 26, 2010 10:28:
just for info: a radio-dj just talked about roxette releasing new stuff and after that he played “1994” by “bunny lake” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GAPMrB15tc – he said, this could be an “updated roxette sound” if one asked him. ... so we see, expectations are very different ;-) ... but i guess most people out there expect marie to sing the first very new single after a decade.

’Upcoming interview with Per’ sounds good. Looks like another christmas present for us. :)

Lyrics is the last thing I care about, I wanna hear the whole song ;-) btw Why don’t you open the forums? It’s been ages since they were active and lots of fans miss them...
Jud (moderator) said on December 28, 2010 06:14:
funny how, the whole crap was only to be found on TDR’s forum, the German and R2R are stupid-comment-free...
And of course, the official forum, but of course, it helps when the mods in the forums are allowed to do that, moderate.
Anyway, as Thomas said, we have other things to do than to moderate. Abysmo, the ignore thing works if everybody follows that, we asked/told people many time, “ignore this user”, but people kept on falling for it. Believe me, life is better without the forums here and we have enough with the comment function.
There are plenty of options to comment/chat and express oneself. Here, Facebook, other forums. We don’t need a forum people use to hide behind nicknames and vent themselves. I am sure there are plenty of them out there for this purpose as well :)
Said that, can’t wait for the interview!!

I was flicking through the lyrics page on the updated Roxette.se site when I noticed the lyrics for In My Own Way. (http://www.roxette.se/lyrics.php?show=144)
In My Own Way
I gathered a mountain
An ocean of teardrops
A castle of break-ups
To hide myself in
I’ve waited a lifetime
For someone to find me
For someone to reach me
Somewhere to begin
Now I’m a woman
I can tell by the look in your eyes
We’re no strangers
I can tell by the way that you smile
I’ve painted the sunsets
The dawnings I’ve missed you
The hours I’ve kissed you
To keep my heart alive
It’s the heat of your breathing
The way you are whispering
The urge of your wanting
I can’t leave you behind
Now I’m a woman
I can tell by the look in your eyes
We’re no strangers
I can tell by the waves in the night
You bring a little hope, bring a little love
I don’t want to own you
I don’t want to lead you
I just want to love you
In my own way

The should sound like a great classic Roxette song.

Maybe it’s too early to make a final statement (I haven’t heard the complete song yet), but in my humble opinion “SGNO (BTR)” is not up to Roxette’s best singles. I do think it sounds a lot like the “Party Crasher” album, specially close to songs like “The Party Pleaser”. As a conclusion: not as bad as “One Wish” (that’s a silly song I cannot stand) but not their best or most memorable effort either. I hope the album tracks (and next singles) are stronger.
