Roxette enters studio this summer, probable release before the end of the year
ARNHEM/NIJMEGEN - “After all those years, we deserve to have a little fun!”
UIT Magazine, a local Dutch lifestyle and entertainment magazine publishes an exclusive interview with Roxette in their June issue, with a large picture of Roxette on their front cover. The full page article deals with Roxette’s comeback and performance as headliner at the Night of the Proms concert later this year and mentions a few interesting facts.
Marie mentions that during the Christmas tour in Sweden she discovered she felt great again on stage. She loved being on stage again and decided it was time to continue with Roxette. Per says that when Marie indicated she was completely ready, they could start talking about a reunion. “It has been a rough and difficult time and I am glad it is behind me now. I feel great! I really want to start working with Per again and most of all have a lot of fun together,” says Marie. Per also emphasizes that a lot has happened in seven years; they both have changed. “Roxette used to be a part of the music industry, trying to be successful. That’s not our goal anymore, we now focus on the things that satisfy us,” says Per.
Per informs the reporter that they will enter the studio this summer. They will not record an entire album, but they will release something new. Per hopes they can release this to the public before the end of the year.

Sounds great that they’re lusting to work together again! Doing what they really like and not what the industry demands. It’s no entire album for now but who knows where the studio work and NOTP tour leads..! Regarding the new tracks I strongly hope they come up with a better idea than another GH album to release them... My vote goes to something like the TOURISM album! :-D

As long as it isn’t a new compilation but just a single or one song for a movie, I’m happy! :)

Maybe they will try if it works to record again together, to make some new songs. If everything goes well, they can record full new album to be ready for release in 2010 or 2011. If you ask me, comeback without new album isn’t comeback. I believe that more recordings will come. Can’t wait to hear ’new’ Roxette.
And as tomos said. Better one new a-side single with one new b-side song than another compilation. Movie soundtrack single? Great idea. ;-)

a Roxette EP would be something I would really like. They never did one so far, so...

Damn great news!
I would love a single, but what would be even better is “Tourism 2”. 4-6 new ones, few new demos and then bunch of great live recordings (Stars!) from RS and night of the proms tour. That would be PERfect.

These are great news, Nevertheless, no one will care if they won’t release an album. I hope that they will enjoy so much in the studio, so that they’ll decide to go on a full album.
The last album, Room Service was nice, but half of it wasn’t that good. If they release only 4 songs, than maybe only 2 will be good enough. :\

maybe an ep? a live album? some unknown old songs? remixes? whatever is welcome, but pls. not a greatest hits compilation again, at least, all of the songs are different versions

I’m shocked a bit - HAPPY that Roxette is back, but what is this “not a complete album”?? Will it be like a mini-album?? Please God, not another GH album....

Okay...which studio? Let’s lock them and hide the key...and maybe we will get an album than ? ;) ;) ;)
Ah..do what you want. I’m happy with everything!! I never dared to dream about something like that. Big hugs to Per and Marie!

I am also hoping that it won’t be just another GH album but maybe something more like Tourism. Or what Bon Jovi did: a CD with their hits in an accoustic version with some new songs. That would be fine. I love the accoustic versions from the abbey session 95.

a new greatest hit’s album for me is impossible..... i’m so happy to read “they will enter the studio this summer.... they will release something new”, this is the important things!!!

I am happy that they’re back together, even when they not record full album. I am pretty sure they must have songs that they record back then that we haven’t heard before and hadn’t got a chance to be in the album, they should include those too.

Hello everybody!
My first idea was TOURISM II and I would love it!
And I also believe they will be inspired by NATP and Roxette goes CLASSIC.
Maybe with some new versions.
Well, I’m really excited to hear what’s comming up next...
PartyCrashess said on May 29, 2009 01:12:
That’s GREAT!! XD
That’s what I waiting for a long time.
I can’t wait to see your new album! :)

During the Roxette part one years, Per showed what a pop music making genius he is, and Marie showed how beautifully she puts her wonderful voice to the songs. As with ABBA, music coming out of Sweden has a cross generational magnetism as Roxette shows so well. I’ve enjoyed Per’s solo albums tremendously, and they have only further reinforced Per’s genius. I don’t understand Swedish, but I LOVE “Mazarin”! It’s fantastic to be able to see the band live and the enthusiasm of the crowds in the live performances.
I am so very thankful that Marie has recovered from her brain tumor illness and wants now to continue on with Roxette. YAY!! We can all count our blessings fpr these things! Thank you for your music, Per and Marie, and keep on keeping on!! :-)

This is very exciting.. what i am hoping for is Tourism 2 or even a Rarities 2.. that would be just as good as a new album for me...
There are so many more ways of making releases exciting for fans than just bringing out more greatest hits such as a Bsides collection, demo collection, unreleased songs collection.... i would really love to hear if there are any songs still left over from the 80’s or 90’s that marie sang on that we have never heard before.. I think that would be really special...
Lets hope its a extra good year to be a roxette fan ;)

Have fun, Per & Marie... and do what you do best - great songs:))
An EP sounds like a very good idea!

I am so incredibly happy that Marie feels well enough to go on! Roxette’s music has shaped me and brought me out of the darkest of times. I knew that to hear that they reunited meant that Marie would be in good health. She is (thank God for that). I cried reading this - tears of joy(ride). :-D
@ roxwho : Tourism 2 would be amazing! I hope they come back to Canada!
WE MISSED YOU PER & MARIE - DON’T BORE US GET TO THE CHORUS! :-D
Much love from Canada.

I wouldn’t want to be here if this new release is going to be another Greatest Hits compilation....
Great news thought isn’t it!! It feels weird to read that Roxette are going into the studio :-)
