Roxette World Tour 2011 schedule

Roxette goes on world tour

Written by tevensso on November 3, 2010 to , and . Source: d&d management.

As expected after the handful of successful concerts Roxette performed this summer, Roxette has announced they will now embark on a full-fledged world tour.

Roxette is setting off on this long-awaited world tour in 2011. The band kicks off in Kazan, Russia on March 1st and will cover at least five continents during the year. Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle are returning to the world stage full of new enthusiasm after their six sold-out concerts this summer. While Roxette toured Europe in 2001, their last real world tour took place in 1994-95 in conjunction with the “Crash! Boom! Bang!” album.

“If you’d asked me a couple of years ago,  if there would ever be a new Roxette tour I would have very quickly said 'No!',” says singer, guitarist and songwriter Per Gessle. “Knowing what Marie (Fredriksson, lead vocalist) had to go through in recovering from her severe illness, this is not only unbelievable, it seems almost magical to me. It will be wonderful to meet all our audience on Planet Earth again.”

“I’ve been longing and hoping for this since 2002. It makes me incredibly happy to know we’re going to meet our fans all around the world again,” says Marie.

Besides the tour, Roxette fans can look forward to a brand new album in the first quarter of 2011.

Update November 9: Dates for Sofia (Bulgaria) and Bucharest (Romania) have been added.

Update November 10: Latest concert dates and venues as well as ticket information can be found in our Roxette World Tour 2011 Calendar.

a site of Greece, http://www.sport-fm.gr/article/303745, says that Roxette will play May 27, 2011 in greece at TerraVibe Park, will be true?

@ RobS - Like I said before they have a 24 day break between Braqzil and South Africia, so if Roxette was to come to Australia, I would asume it would be in that period.

@muc_ben: Do you mind contacting me personally? I’ve never been to Germany and would like to ask a couple of questions to a native who’s going to this concert. :-)

Sunshine is a lady who rox u like a baby!

Vilnius, Ryga, and Minsk maybe :)

Ok UPDATE from the Aussies.

Where are we at guys? It seems, myself, LexBex, RobS, Hotblooded and BWAD have emailed the touring companies.

Who else? If you’re an AUSSIE fan and have emailed then please let us know so we can keep track of the progress. If you haven’t emailed anyone yet, get moving! Details below!!!!

I’ve also contacted the Kyle & Jackei-O Show on 2DAY FM and WS FM who are more likely to actually bring Roxette out. I think we need to target each states ARN station “Gold FM”, “WS FM” etc.

How about a Facebook campaign in conjuction with the TDR community? There’s already a group “Get ROXETTE to Australia in 2011’ - Is someone from here responsible for that one? - Remember, Facebook/people power is what helped bring Hey Hey It’s Saturday back to life.

I’ve just signed up to “Get ROXETTE to Australia in 2011” I also email a mate of mine (Jason) who is in an Australian band called “Jaywalker”, asking him for some help like who to contact and so on.

I did this as Jason is already in the Music Industry and knows the ins and outs. So hopefully. He’ll be able to help us.

@BWAD

I just joined that Facebook group too :-)

Keep us in the loop with your updates!!!

It took me a while but I found the page and have signed on : )

@ettexor

It seems accurate, we are waiting from the management to confirm it
i am going back home again next year

This is a video that a spanish fan made to try to brig roxette to spain. Hope everyone likes it.

My promotion is working - Already OFM here in SA has announced Roxette’s tour on air last night!! Yay!!!!

Now, if only we can get the tickets.....No tickets available on “Computicket” yet. When I type in “Roxette”, it says “no results”.... Maybe they start selling in January...dunno

any fans travelling to or living in greece, email me for a fan meeting, let me know

AUSSIE UPDATE -

Email from Darryl Bailey at EMI

“We don’t tour artists unfortunately. We just represent their recordings. Maybe try a promoter such as Andrew McManus Presents?
Cheers”

Bottom line, DON’T email him, it’s pointless. Re-direct all energies to the Touring Companies.

Keep us in the loop guys.

P.S. Congrats to the Greek fans

I’ve just found on the italian website of Live Nation a new concert among the list of the confirmed ones.
It says that Roxette will be in Locarno (Swiss) for the Moon & Stars festival 2011 the 14 th of July.
Can anyone officially confirm this?

http://www.livenation.it/artist/roxette-tickets/Bio

Actually this could be the nearest concert for me (it takes only 5 hours by car !!).
I still hope for something closer, what about Milano, Innsbruck, Munchen...maybe Bolzano (Bozen) which
is still Italy (the german speaking part) but northern enough to attract austrian people too.
I’ll wait and see what happens.

It has been a while since my last post (I have always been daily reader though)
i wish to say hallo to everyone who still remeber me, it’s always fun to share with you these moments for upcoming albums or tours.

@Pikappa That concert has now also been listed on livenation.se

I also found that a concert in Norway has popped up on that list:
7.7 Stavern Festival, Stavern, Norge
14.7 Moon & Stars Festivale, Locarno, Schweitz

Firstly Congrates to all the Greek fans.

I have asked my local Sanity Music Store Manager, if I did up some flyers announces that Roxette are releasing a new CD yearly next year and are doing a world tour, but Australia isn’t on the agenda yet.

The great news is that he said yes that he’ll place a flyer in every bag, when someone buys somethings. All I need is some suggestions on what to say on the flyer if any of you can help me please contact me. My email address is in my profile.

Thanks.

Has anyone from the UK actually emailed or contacted Live Nation, apart from me??

We can’t be the only major European country to be left out!!

While eagerly awaiting tickets to go on sale here in Sunny South Africa...I have come up with a “decent” setlist for Mr G and the divine Ms F to sing:

1. Dressed For Success
2. Crush On You
3. Stars
4. Sleeping In My Car
5. Knockin’ On Every Door
6. Opportunity Nox
7. It Must Have Been Love
8. Fading Like A Flower
9. Silver Blue
10. Run To You
11. Surrender
12. Dangerous
13. Listen To Your Heart
14. Joyride
15. How Do You Do!
16. Wish I Could Fly
17. Fingertips
18. Spending My Time
19. The Rain
20. The Look
21. She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore
22. Perfect Day

And I think 4 new songs from the new album should be added as well!
Would LOVE to hear Per and Marie perfrom “Surrender” like they did on the “POP” album...those guitars makes me get goosebumps on the cd just before Marie starts to sing!

To say the truth...I would love for Roxette to perfrom “What’s She Like?” also.
I just love the emotion on that song, since it happened to me too many times in my life...haha. My setlist keep changing every 10 minutes. Roxette has TOO many GOOD songs. Would love to hear them ALL live!!

Since there is NO DATES and NOT LOOKING GOOD for any dates for Australia. I was planning on selling my car to get money and fly somewhere in Europe, but now I won’t be able to do it.

At 12:10pm today, I was involved in a car accident, which I ended up hurting my knees and elbows. My car is majorly damaged at the front.

There goes my Roxette dream :-(

I hope you are ok BWAD!!

@BWAD - Hey, I hope you’re okay!! Been in 2 car accidents myself. Know the feeling.

@Hotblooded & CyiRoy

Just got very sore knees and a sure right shoulder (wear the seat belt) crosses over)

Just for none Australians our steering wheel is on the right side.

GOOD NEWS FOR SOUTH AFRICAN FANS!!!!

Got an email from a lady at Computicket today - Roxette’s tickets will start selling on the 29th of November 2010!!!!! She didn’t give me any prices!!

Don’t buy everything, okay...leave some for me!!!

Only around 40 seats left for the gig in Poland. The “golden circle” is sold out aswell. So soon there will only be standingtickets aviable. So maybe this will be the third concert to sell out.

@pwbbounce I emailed Live Nation almost two weeks ago, but didn’t get a reply...

The swiss concert has been removed both from the TDR list and from the livenation list.
Does anybody have clue about what’s going on with this concert?
Thank you

I wonder the same as Pikappa and I’m really worried...

I’ve giving up hope and that is Roxette WON’T BE come to Australia, it’s very disappointing as there are so many Australian fans.

As long as it says “Dates to be added” in the end of list there are still hope for everyone I think.

Don’t give up!

I have still my hopes up for Barcelona and Stockholm.

I think there is one more date and I’m sure there’s more to come :)

25.5 TBA, Istanbul, Turkey
???

There has to be more dates.....there’s no way Roxette can do a tour with only one date in Sweden !

Ever though TDR still has “Dates To Come” I personally think that they have just forgotten to remove it.

I have once again the 5 major Tour Promoters asking them if their in talks with Roxette’s Management about being Roxette to Australia during their 2011 World Tour.

I also asked them if their not in talks with management and why and also said aren’t Roxette good enough to come to Australia. I sent the emails on Saturday, so hopefully I’ll hear something this week.

Ok here are 3 replies that I got today:

Michael Coppel - Hi Brett, Thanks for your email. Any tour announcements can be found on our website at www.coppel.com.au
Thanks and have a great day!
Kind regards
Emily

Chugg Entertainment - Hi Brett, Chugg Entertainment is not looking into touring Roxette, as we have quite a few tours coming next year. There is many other touring companies in Australia that might be bringing them out.
Thanks,
Chugg Entertainment

Andrew McManus - Dear Brett, Thank you for your email and tour suggestion. It has been passed on to the relevant parties to take into consideration when selecting future tours.

Kind Regards,
ampresents

So it’s NOT LOOKING GOOD for an Aussie tour.

PS: If I here from Danity or Frontier, I’ll let you know what they said.

Thanks for the update BWAD

No, things do NOT look good for us Aussies :-(

Not just Aussies - things aren’t looking good for the US or UK either!

I’d be quite happy with a “no we are not coming to the UK” - yes I’d be upset but at least I’d not be in limbo and could sort a trip elsewhere out

Got my Roxette concert tickets for the Sun City / SA shows this morning. The tickets were surprisingly cheap!! I’ll be standing right in front of the stage, so smell Marie’s sweet perfume!! Hahahaha....

Now the looooooooooong wait until May.....

@ pwbbounce - Have you guys in the US and UK been doing what us Australians are doing and contacting Touring Promoters/Concerts? If so I gather that you are having the same problem as us.

Yep, I’ve emailed Live Nation a few times, and had a couple of responses saying that nothing is known at this time.

something is gonna happen in the next few days, just be patient. They are into something, that’s why they been so quiet.

Please could we have some news about UK dates so we have something to look forward to in the New Year as well !!!!

Per has just put a comment on his Twitter:-

PartyPleaser Per Gessle
’We should do some shows in Spain, Italy & the UK as well, right?’

Either he’s asking for fans opinions or an announcement of more dates is imminent! :p

As I said before something is about to happen

Very interesting... although he didn’t mention Australia!!!

Any aussies on twitter?? has anyone sent something to PG asking him about coming to Aus??

Like you RobS Per said on Twitter ’We should do some shows in Spain, Italy & the UK as well, right?’

Firstly Per if you read TDR. Observably you and Maire aren’t interested in coming to Australia or going to USA and Canada,

I can’t speak for USA or Canada, but yes EMI Australia HAS DONE NOTHING for Roxette in ages, The last time EMI Australia did something huge was promotioning CBB, They did S**T all for RS when it was released

But Come on give us ago you still have thousands of fans here in Australia, USA and Canada. Please don’t leave us out.

Local South African news reports about “over the hill” or “vintage” bands flooding South Africa lately. MC Hammer is in SA, Vanilla Ice, Neil Diamond and U2 and Bryan Adams and Roxette, of course.

The article says: “Roxette is not a fading act yet, as they sold 5000 tickets in just 24 hours for their 3 shows in May. Remember that Roxette sold 1 million albums in South Africa, and their previous concerts were big arena shows....”

Articles goes on to say that these “vintage” bands seem to be riding the “world cup soccer wave”.... We all know that Roxette doesn’t fall in this catagory!

Seems good!!

SA Rock!!!!

wow maybe italy!!!!!!

Seen them twice in Sheffield & loved them both, they say things come in three’s lets just hope they return.

Lets hope it’s the latter Alison.

If JUSTIN BIEBER is good enough to come to Australia for a series of Concerts. Why isn’t Roxette?

Plus Justin doesn’t even know what German mean. He was asked in a interview is Bieber German, he had a weird look on his face and said “What’s German”

LOL. The problem is Bieber is the latest teen sensation whom the promoters can flog the crap out of and know they’re going to get sales.

Roxette haven’t been big here since the early/mid nineties with no guarantee of sales. Even if the album sells huge in Aus (which I doubt with EMI behind them) by then most of the tour plan would be set and I doubt they’d try and squeeze in more. That said i’m 100% certain that if Roxette did a 5 or 6 show tour, one night per city in Australia, they would sell out no problems. I know i’d try and get to at least two if I had the opportunity and nothing to stop me.

I’d really like to know how much input P&M have into where they tour. They’re already going down to South America, it’s not that much of a jump to Aus. I’d like to think that Marie and Mikael would like to come back to Aus for old times sake.

As Marie and Mikael meet in Sydney in 1991. I know at the moment their is a 23/25 day break between Brizal and South Africia and if they are fly direct from Brazil to Australia, the would either have to stop in Australia to refuel or fly over Australia.

Like you I don’t know how much import P&M have on when they go, but I say that they’ll have 70% of import. Remember back in 2001 with the Room Service Tour they were meant to play in South Africia on the 30th and 31st of Dec, but when 9/11 happen they cancelled thoses gigs and were considering canceling the whole tour.

I know a lot of bands and singers cancelled their tours as Janet Jackson was eant to come out in October or November in 2001, but cancelled.

I’m not waiting any longer to hear about Australian concert dates (though I’d still go to every one if they became available). I saw Roxette once in Brisbane for the CBB tour and have to see them again. Got tickets to Gotenburg. Can’t wait for July.

Wow!!!
I’m crossing all my 20 fingers for a concert in Italy.

theres so much aussie support i dont see how they cant come here!!!! I hope they see our dedication and reward us...ive been waiting for 20 years!!!

I agree re Aussie support, not just from us fans but from the country as a whole. How many bands form the 80’s/90’s are touring now or in the near future. GnR, Bon Jovi, U2, INXS, heck even Human Nature are touring! If they can attract a crowd, then Rox certainly can.

THE DATES FOR ARGENTINA ARE CURRENTLY WRONG!! The tickets for the Argentinean gigs are officially on sale but there are no schedule for a concert on April the 5th. They are only talking about 2 dates in Argentina. what is going on?

Are still dates to be added?? It would be great if they told us that the list of gigs is closed or if they have to add any concert more, could it be before the new year? It would help a lot of people to plan next holidays.. I guess I can’t go to any concert of the tour as they won’t do (at least for the moment) any in my country (Spain)
