STOCKHOLM - Swedish artists Miio will release their first album, “På vårt sätt” (In our way), soon. The tracklisting reveals that they have made two more covers of Gyllene Tider songs. The CD will include their first single, the Gold Awarded cover of “När vi två blir en” (Aka “Beating Heart”). The other Gyllene Tider covers are “När alla vännerna gått hem” and “Det hjärta som brinner”.
In addition to Gyllene they have also recorded Tomas Ledin, Orup and Lasse Lindbom Band material, among others.

Hello!
Personally I think this sux! I mean, if they do covers on Pers material, could they once in a while do a good cover perhaps? If we take a look back in history we will find Petrus cover on Listen to your heart and I dont think that that one was a good one. And if you listen to Miio the När vi två blir en cover is kind of stupid I think.
I think that Per should at least listen to the result before giving them premission to do a cover on his lovely material. But then again, Hey that is only my oppinion!
Love, peace and no covers!

I agree with VandrandeMan. The Miio version of “När vi två blir en” really sucks. I can’t believe Per lets them abuse him wonderful music like that.

Abuse is the word. Talk about making your way through somebody else. It makes me feel sick.

DON’T COVER, BE ORIGINAL!!
I really hate covers!!
Escpecially covers that nuke up the original song (and that happens in 99.99% of the covers, GRRR!!)

What are you all moaning about?? LOL ...at the end of the day, it is Per who credits from all of this.

I don’t even know Miio but to ananymous, they are not stealing anything. Thye get permission to do the cover and I dunno whether GT gets paid for it but they get credit for sure.
I personally don’t like any covers except I think Take That was pretty good at doing covers. They were even better than original. Yeah... Also, even though I think noone can sing Freddie Mercury’s songs, George Michael did even a better job than him in his tribute concert which they released later as a single.

Well, at least Miio isn´t worse than all the other covers ever made on Roxette songs. Have you ever heard “Ännu doftar kärlek” with Stefan Borsch?? There you have something to complain about! ;)

Per doesn’t have to “approve” the cover version of his song, since he gives them the permission and only then they make the version of it. Of course this is stupid!! Nowadays, it’s rather hard to write a good pop song, since pretty much everything has been used. Being a songwriter myself, I do wish Miio good luck (I haven’t heard the cover myself), just don’t think that making so much covers (3 on one album?), doesn’t look good to the fans.

hehe, they have made three of Gyllene Tider on one album, and there is a lot ofther covers on that album to...

I think that all those hip-hop people who steal everything they can get is much worse. I don´t know how many songs that has been destroyed by such people.

Wow! Every single comment so far is negative!
I really enjoy finding covers of Roxette & related songs. Sometimes they suck, of course, but some of them are really good. I DID like this version of NVTBE, I found it fresh and the voices of these women match perfectly with the song.
It’s always interesting listening to a cover. IWBYB is a highlight in PG’s discography to me.
On the other hand: Per fobbidding someone from covering one of his songs??? Somebody recording a Gessle song and selling a record = more money for Gessle’s pocket!
Way to go Miio!

Didn’t Per said he liked Miio’s version?
By the way, more interesting is that they make a cover of Lasse Lindbom’s Kom o värm dig!! That’s a GREAT song in the same style as ’när vi två blir en’, actually I believe Per must have been inspired by that one when he wrote ’när vi två blir en’.

i like the miio song and what’s wrong with it anyway?
such covers also support the original song, they didn’t steal anything and in the end it’s some kind of “honour” to, that they decided to cover a song written by per.

at haveaniceday.nu he said that u don’t have to ask for a permition to do a cover.. u only have to pay...
daniel_alv said on October 27, 2003 17:23:
a cover is already famous, so I think it’s like just wanting the money and come in in the buisness as fast as possible....

and while all these wannabes are up there.. other great musicians are struggling to get their cd published in a small record company and to reach to as many ppl as possible.. indeed, music industry is tough and sucks!

Why get into the musicbusiness when you don’t write your own songs? Well, maybe you’re no good at it, but have a great voice. :P
