I won't buy a new Roxette album unless...

I was thinking if Roxette are to release a new album again I really don’t want it to be an over produced heartless effort like the last couple of studio albums. I mean yes the songs were good but there was no real vibe to it, these days I can actually see why the critics are so hard on them.

Take for instance Per’s new solo album, it’s brilliant it feels so real so much emotion then go listen to RS nothing like it! It all seems so calculated. Marie’s solo stuff has so much heart and soul in it and feels so real so they definitely can do it.

I really hope they go against the tried and true formula and dare to be themselves on the next studio album, it would probably really get them some respect in the industry and maybe a whole bunch of new fans or at the very least make the old ones, like me, very happy :)

Of course I’ll buy it regardless but I don’t want to banish it to my CD rack after a few weeks, I want it to be something I look forward to putting on all the time!

Yep, but take a look at joyride, it’s the perfect mix between great production and heart and feeling.
But yeh, but you have a point. HAND and RS felt like a bunch of ideas thrown together into a mixing pot and that’s it.

Oh thank god somebody thinks like me :D I have always thought HAND and RS lack inspiration, passion for what they were recording, it lacks “that feeling”... Even though Marie was at her best during RS tour :)

Let’s just wait and see, I prefer to concentrate on MF solo and GT now :D

Hotblooded, I fully agree with you.

One day I had a strange idea. What would RS sound like being just voices and accoustic gituars?So I sat down, put on the headphones and imagined. (ommmmm, no, not really ;-) ) And it sounded great in my ears. Nice songs, concentrating on nice melodies. No boring drumsets (where are the rhythmgoesstraighttoyourlegs-drums of silver blue?), no unuseful synths, just perfect songs.
That’s what I would like to hear from Roxette. Well, it seems, I will have to keep on listening to their solostuff to see that they are able to do it.

Take a song like Opportunity Nox for instance. That song would have sounded so great without all those synth-sounds. Just drums, bass and guitars (and piano or organ). It would be a really cool rock-song. A bit more like Födelsedag on the Mazarin-album.

Let´s hope Per & Marie read this topic!

I do agree on most points, but in my personal opinion a couple of tracks on HAND and RS do have the vibe!!

Like “My World, My love, my Life” is probably the best ballad ever made by Roxette.
And Crush on You is just a good song on HAND.

But as a whole, these albums (especially HAND) are indeed weaker than the other ones.

I think there were some great tracks on the albums but as a whole the albums just didn’t gel. I think they try to do to much with the songs, the simplar and the less technology they use the better results they get. Per should see that you don’t need to throw the kitchen sink at every song to create a great album!

M&T&H is a good example why do they have to use such a dodgy piano sound, why not something a little more real like on Per’s demo. Just things like that really annoy me these days cause I’m so over the fake over produced stuff there is so much more heart in simplicity and using REAL instruments!

I can’t wait to hear Marie’s solo album she has always recorded music with heart, why they don’t do this for Roxette is beyond me. And trust me if they come back with the same formula as before people are gonna roll their eyes and say ’Why do they even bother!’ If they come back with something raw and real people might just take notice again.

Please don’t get me wrong either cause I think LS, Joyride, Tourism and CBB definitely had a feel to them but HAND and RS definitely lacked it.

There are great songs in those albums, with so much heart on them like the old classics, for example “I was so lucky” and “My world, my love, my life”. “Wish I could fly” is the perfect example of a modern ballad, and “Jefferson” keeps that rocky feeling of CBB. “Stars” and “Entering your heart” are perfect expressions of creativity. And so on...

I WILL buy any new Roxalbum, and I’m sure it will be great... as always.

RS was just plain borediomn...it felt like alot fo leftovers, hand and cbb were amazing albums more so than joyride ever was...all i want is 2 more huge worldwide hits from them and then they can retire :)

Like I said I still enjoyed HAND & RS when I first got them and both have some great songs on them but as a whole album they don’t do much for me. Don’t like it even if hurts your Roxette pride ?...then i’m sorry it’s your taste and you don’t have to buy or listen to it...any of us here is free to express what they feel but not to the point of drama (e.g if the new album sounds like HAND i’ll jump from tower bridge and die LOL..please...)

Just understand that things in order to make sence must first come from Roxette themselves then in the end when the product is ready to release then each and any of us will make up his mind and buy it or not... there is nothing wrong with that just avoid this drama ...anti-hand and anti-rs topics so far have been too much..time to step back and slow down I think...

I’d also like to believe that the new album whenever it comes out ...will be better than HAND or RS (not that i dislike the other 2 of course) but i rather wait and see things being done and being listened by me but coming from the artistic sence of Roxette regardless what you like or dislike , regardeless if you think it’s too this and litle of that...i take it as it comes and try to cope with it and see if i like it or not...so simple as this!

Honestly I couldn’t give a shit if there is a new Roxette album or not I only want Marie to make a full recovery whatever she decideds to do!

I am much more interested in seeing how everything evolves for her personallywise and also if she is able to really release a new solo album next year..and even if such doesn’t happen ...Marie is always on top and it should be on every Roxer’s top but i rather not comment any further on that...
