Canadian release date set for May 15th

According to EMI Music Canada, they will be releasing “Room Service” on May 15th. Marie Dimberg, Roxette’s manager, said “we have a very strong fan base there, as they are more influenced by Europe than the U.S.” Roxette and EMI are hoping that “Room Service” will do well in Canada.
There had been some confusion at EMI in Toronto regarding Roxette. Whether accurate or not, they thought Edel had the distribution rights, and this accounts for the delay from the April 2nd “worldwide” release date.

finally, I’ve been waiting for a while for this, does anyone know if the remixes will be released too?

We just seem to get the scraps left over here in Canada. Yes, there are still Roxette fans around. We may be few, but we are die hard fans. It’s very unfair over here, cos I am just as avid a fan here in Canada as if I were in Sweden or Germany. I would like to see more Roxette stuff added to Canadian markets. May 15th is better than nothing.

Ricardo, as far as I know no single-release has been timetabled yet; who knows whether it is planned at all. Still, you might well have a look at ’small talk’: ’Onlywhenidream’ is eagerly seeking support for his Rox-campaign in UK.

BULLSHIT! EMI Canada bowed down to pressure from fans! It was in there best interest to release it! It had nothing to do with mix-up regarding distribution rights - do they think we are daft!?

I was in an email conversation with a person at EMI Sweden. She told me that according to statistics Canada has the strongest fanbase. I do agree that the promotion is not all that great but we Canadian fans have other ways than the tv and radio to discover Roxnews.
Oh right my original point... THERE IS NO WAY I AM WAITING FOR MAY 15 TO GET THE ALBUM. I WILL HAVE IT ON APRIL 3 IF IT MEANS I HAVE TO FLY TO EUROPE TO GET IT.
For all of those People with an HMV near you don’t forget...they will import ANYTHING you ask them to. For all those Torontonians, a trip to 333 Yonge St. may be well worth your while as i was able to buy HAND 2 months prior to its National release.
Just thought i’d mention that! :-)

I don’t agree that Roxette have a “very strong fan base” in Canada, but I’m certain that “Centre” will get heavy rotation on MuchMoreMusic and maybe even get some attention at radio... it’s very radio friendly. In any case, this is GREAT news for us!
