A Girl like you

In the BMI-List under “Per Hakan Gessle” is a song registered named “A Girl like You”. I think it is listed about a year or more on BMI.
Now, today, I surfed on iTunes and found this song under “Son of a Plumber” as the 27 song. Never heard it before, but it sounds really cool, so I bought it.
So, what´s the story about this song? I have the original SOAP-album on CD´s but without this song?!?!
And another one: Song 28 on iTunes is PLONK :) But it´s Ronnie Lane.

Lyrics
Oh, I want to spend my time. Yes, I want to spend my time. I really want to spend my life with a girl like you. Oh, I’ve been waiting such a long time. There’s been so many things on my mind. I’m really please I could finally find a girl like you. Hey hey hey, what do you say? Do you wanna dance like you’ve never danced before in your life? Oooooohh. I’ve been up in the sky just to get the right view. I’ve been around the world getting ready for a girl like you. A girl like you, hey yea. I was raised to be so clever. How come I feel I’ve known you forever? Like I’ve always been together with a girl like you. Hey hey hey, what do you say? Do you wanna dance like you’ve never danced before in your life? Oooooohh. I’ve been climbing so high watching the view. I’ve been around the world getting ready for a girl like you. Yeah, I’ve been around the world and I’ve bee looking for a girl like you. I said, I’ve been around the world and I’ve been looking for a girl like you. A girl like you. A girl like you. Ahhhhh, yeah yeah. Getting ready for a girl like you... Girl like you... Getting ready for a girl like you... Girl like you... Yeah yeah yeah... Girl like you... I’ve been looking around the world.

The SOAP version isn’t the original though. There’s a Rox version of it as well.

Very good song, especially the whistle. But it doesn´t fit the SOAP-project. It sounds more like “I wanna be your Boyfriend” or “The world according...”. Not very Plumbish or Roxettish. Very Gesslish, but i like it ^^

Oooo, A Rox version of this song. Is it sung by Per and Marie? Or Just Marie? Or Just Per. Hmmm, could be interesting...

It’s very interesting to hear that a version of Roxette exists. I heard ’a girl like you’ some time ago, and I think that there wouldn’t have a problem including it on the soap album. ’Come back tomorrow (and we do it again’ was also released as a gyllene tider song some decades ago. so, in my opinion, ’a girl like you’ could have been included on the official tracklist...

I love this song! I would have put this one on instead of “Substitute” I think...

A Girl Like You and Plonk (early version of Ronnie Lane) were only included on the “iTunes version” of SOAP. They were never released on a physical CD. The same applies for the new version of Keep The Radio On (also available on the vinyl LP) and the remixes of I Never Quite Got Over The Fact... (long and short version).
