"It takes you..." what's the point of that song??

I generally don’t find hard to get what’s Per message in some lyrix...but only now, after 3 years, I realized...that I never realized nothing about that song...what the hell Per tried to mean with “It takes u no time to get here?”
it was the top fave of roxette fans in that ridiculous hyper-flashed roxette.se site, (along with My world, my love...)...but hey...what the hell does it mean? it sounds like a country club advertisment!!!
the same happens with new (dunno if is really new) Shania’s video ’Up!’...the song craps, deeply...all the way electronic, not the rythm, but the synths...iuc!!! and the video...looks like a Kodak advertisement, starring...Shania Twain...

Every Ferrari owner thinks it really takes you no time to get from some place to another...

all right, I have got that...but...what’s the motto of that song??? like in American Girl, from Tom Petty...that’s a hell of a song! and u can feel a lot of feelings squeezed along the liryx lines...but in that case...?????...it still sounds like an advertisement...hehehe

Do all lyrix have to have a meaning? Maybe Per thought of something and just thought he’d write a few words down and it turned into a story which turned into a song.
Doesn’t mean it has to have a meaning.

It takes you no time to get here = It doesn’t take very long to get here.

I’m becoming increasingly convinced that Vix is actually Per Gessle in drag!
Are you naturally from Sweden, and then moved to England? I as just thinking that ’Mankelow’ isn’t a very Brittish name.
By the way... I totally didn’t mean any offense about that ’drag’ remark. (Per’s a man, Vix says ’shes’ a girl...)
Plus, I think Zagro is right about the song. It’s just a nice little simple song - you shouldn’t read in too deeply about it. You should accept it at face value.

The meaning/lyric of “It takes...” is quite similar to the meaning of “church of your heart”:
...”Can’t we leave the world outside just for a while? Just for a while? And spend some time, you and I, under this bright glorious sky?”.....
...”Why don’t you take the rest of the day off you do deserve a break follow that road, it ain’t long
just cross that silver lake yea, pass the pond, the off-white fence...”
In my opinion, “It takes..” is one of the best Rox songs. Its sound remenbers me those songs:
“Mmmmmmm” from Crash test Dummies and
” ´74 - ´75 ” from The Connells
really good. nice song

Find me a name that is British anymore! ;)
We’re not all called Smith or Jones just as not everyone in Sweden is called Fredriksson or Gessle. ;P
But hey.....if you would like to believe I’m Per then thats fine by me ;) wish I had his money LOL

Nice song, beautiful lyrics. Dedicated to someone you love but he/she spends his life in work and trouble, but all she/he must do is come to you and take a rest out of all that madness...it takes you no time to get here.

Doesn’t ever occur to any of you that maybe some songs have no point at all and the lyrics are just written because they rhyme?
Because I have read that many songwriters do just that...

Hmmmm. . . Santi, it occurs to me that I read that response somewhere else. (Pooooooor kitty-turtle.)
Good song, does have a point, not just in the rhyming.

He is attempting to persuade someone to get away from there work and busy life for a while and join him in the country for some relaxing time together.
To add to the persuasion he’s reminding this girl that it will only take a little while for her to be with him, away from all the hustle and bustle, and the verses then go on to continue to tempt her to join him.
Nice lyrics... hope it worked ;)
