Music festivals!

What’s the best music festival in your area? My friend (ANET http://www.anetmusic.com - she’s fantastic!) is looking to play some festivals in Europe this year and she was wondering what the best ones for an up-and-coming alterna-pop goddess would be... she plays loud and hard with her band but she also performs solo sometimes, just her and an acoustic guitar, so she’s interested in both rock festivals and folk festivals.

Near Valencia there is the “Festival Internacional de Benicàssim” in Castellón. They bring always very good bands, here have come people like Blur, Travis, Suede, Placebo, Björk, Oasis, Saint Etienne, Beck... here you have the internet address: http://www.fiberfib.com/
All this happens in the beginning of August around here.

Another good quality one that I’ve heard of in Europe is in Belgium in the end of June called “Rock Werchter”. This year they had Coldplay, R.E.M., Counting Crows, The Cardigans, Supergrass, Metallica, Anouk, Queens of Stone Age, Tricky, Moby, Massive Attack, Björk, Radiohead... http://www.rockwerchter.be/

Moscow, Russia: we’ve got Maxidrom festival, which takes place in May. Arranged by the top rock radio station (Maximum) it has just gained an ’international’ status, presenting three foreign bands in 2003 (HIM, Apocalyptica, Chumbawamba). It now welcomes foreign pop-rock bands. I can add that Maxidrom is held at the same place Roxette performed at in 2001, if it helps :)
