Damn. All I can say is she’s lucky. Belly wounds are nothing to be trifled with. Just to gross everyone out:
A wound to the abdomen (stabbing or shooting) has a chance of cutting open the stomach, intestines, or bowels. When that occurs, acid and other stuffs are released. It’s like a biotoxin to your body and if the infection occurs, chances on catching it are decent. It all depends on how quick you get to the hospital (pray its RIGHT NEXT DOOR). But the longer you wait (the further away you are), the higher the risk of infection and death.

RIP. We all know Swedish police... They didn’t found Palme’s murderer, let’s hope they got this mad who killed Lindh. But, I’m not so sure about it, it’s the Swedish police...
Jud (moderator) said on September 11, 2003 08:22:
damn bastard!!!! I got to know about this yesterday night... I read they were still operating cuz she was still bleeding, I thought “jeez this looks awful, lets hope for the best”, then this morning when my gf left to work, she told me they were operating her again, I thought “oh no, this looks even worse” and indeed..an hour later I woke up to the news of her death :(
yeah I also heard the Swedish police sucks..
My thoughts are with her family and friends. RIP.
tevensso (moderator) said on September 11, 2003 08:48:
Very sad indeed. I didn’t care for her as a politician, but no one should be stabbed to death ever. My thoughts are with her family.

i feel really sorry for you.

@Mari: Don´t be so critical to the Swedish police! I don´t think they are worse than any other police force. My personal believes why they never found Palme´s murderer is that it was a proffesional hitman, maybe even hired from the military or so...
Otherwise I agree with Tevensso. I didn´t care about her as a politician either, but it is truely horrible that something like this can happen!!
coyboyusa said on September 11, 2003 11:39:
why should sweden be an exception to the random violence that happens in the world?
helle18 said on September 11, 2003 12:07:
I agree with Per_mson, don’t be so hard on the Swedish police. They are doing all they can and in this case they won’t be holding back any effort to catch the guy. I don’t think the police can do anything more than what they are doing now.
This is the third year in a row that something really awful happens on my birthday, I wonder how long this will go on. I’m starting to wonder if I will ever have a happy birthday again?

Perhaps anyone in Sweden knows of a tribute page on the web to leave messages of condolences to her family, friends and work collegues. If you know of such thing please post the link on here for me.....
They did the same kind of thing when Princess Diana died in 97 for people all over the world to write there messages of sympathy.

1991 : André Cools (Belgian socialist)
shot to death
2002 : Pim Fortuyn (Dutch right wing leader)
shot to death
2003 : Anna Lindh (Swedish social democrat)

These ones I remember but there certainly are a lot more politicians killed.
Pray for all these murdered political brains!

Thanks for the comment about the money matter... I’ll have to look that up actually *lol*
I was saddened to hear about Lindh’s death. It totally goes past me how this could happen. Unfortunately, this is the way that the world goes now.
To the friends and family of Ms. (Mrs?) Lindh:
I am sorry for your loss. Things like this shouldn’t happen, yet they do on a day to day basis. From what I’ve read so far, she was a very well liked, and well respected lady.
Peace be with everyone on this sad day.

normally in östermalm very late in the nights there are many drunkpeople, like everywhere, several times I got problems with that people, I called often to the police , but they did not do anything, was funny, always the youngers runing away and the policeman just smiled :-) ... another day happened the same but there was with us an Australian girl, the same youngers were not polite with her, and the policeman did nothing again, but my boyfriend did ( he is not a tipical gay :-D)... he hit two of them......
does somebody knows why the swedish police is like that?
1.palme
2.-lindh
“3”.- high taxes, i pay 30% and my boyfriend 62%
maybe the police needs more money...
.........per y marie pay 83%...
Mari said on September 12, 2003 11:46:
per_mson, it’s not just my option that Swedish police sux!. Here are the facts:
Solved crimes of every crimes in Sweden (2002) is 27%
and in Finland (2002) 63,8%!!!
The source is Center of Statistics in Finland www.tilastokeskus.fi and Center of Statistics in Sweden. www.bra.se
So you really think Swedish police is good? They solve only 23% of crimes! How it’s possible that they are so much worse than Finnish police?
pearls_of_passion said on September 12, 2003 13:14:
It’s so sad that something like that happens in a country like Sweden. But as far as I remember, it’s not the first time (Palme). I hope that the police find the killer (this time). Authorities said, that the attack wasn’t political motivated. What else should it be then???? I think it was because of the Euro. What do you think?
ally77 said on September 12, 2003 14:58:
It seems she got a death threat via email on 27/08/03 but always said she did want to see such letters....
I have taken this from AOL:
Lindh got e-mail threat two weeks before murder
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Reuters) - Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh was sent an e-mail threatening her and her children two weeks before she was fatally stabbed while out shopping, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.
The e-mail accused Lindh – who campaigned hard for Swedes to vote “Yes” to joining the euro in a referendum Sunday – of being a “power-hungry bitch sitting in the lap of big business,” public service SR radio said quoting from the letter.
The e-mail, which was not passed on to police, was sent to Lindh on Aug. 27, the day after an article written by her and Carl-Henric Svanberg, chief executive of the telecommunications company Ericsson, was published in a leading daily newspaper.
Lindh, a member of the working-class-rooted center-left Social Democratic Party, and Svanberg, one of Sweden’s richest men, argued that a rejection of the European Union’s common currency would harm jobs and investment in the Swedish economy.
Lindh, a 46-year-old mother of two, was fatally stabbed by an unknown male attacker Wednesday when she was out shopping with a friend. She died of her wounds Thursday.
Like most Swedish politicians, apart from the prime minister, she had no bodyguards.
Many Swedes fear her murder will go unsolved like that of Prime Minister Olof Palme who was shot dead in central Stockholm in 1986 while walking home from a cinema. Palme had given his bodyguards a night off.
Top Foreign Ministry official, Mikael Eriksson, told the radio the letter was not passed on to the police unit responsible for ministers’ security, Sapo. He did not specify what threats were contained in the e-mail.
“In a situation when the foreign minister is dead, you obviously look at all measures and routines that could have been handled differently,” he said. “But in this particular case I don’t want to say whether this should have been handed over (to Sapo).”
Sapo deputy chief Kurt Malmstrom said the threat analysis team responsible for assessing potential threats against cabinet members should have seen the letter.
Eriksson said Lindh had not seen the e-mail because she had explicitly said she did not want to see any such letters.

What a shame that these things happen.
About 11th September, don’t forget another tragic issue in which btw USA was also involved, 30 years ago Allende was killed and Pinochet got the power in Chile.
Oh, and “why should sweden be an exception to the random violence that happens in the world?” by Coyboyusa. Ok kid, what “randomness” is there in killing a minister who was pro-euro 5 days before the final decision by the Swedish people? What’s the next “smart” thing you’re gonna write?
Maybe you’ll tell us now that Olof Palme was killed because he was the first walking down Sveavägen.............................

I remember an interview with her, when she said that once she had a conversation with the russian foreign minister by phone with the help of an interpreter when her younger son who was about 2 years old at that time came to her crying because he hurt himself.
She told him with nice voice ” kom, kom lille gubbe” ( “come , come sweetheart”) and then she realized that the interpreter translated it too, and the russian foreign minister thought that she said it to him.
She was thinking what to say now, it was quite embrassing but then the child started to cry so loudly that the minister heard it too and they started to laugh ´cos it was clear that Anna didn´t want to flirt with him but she wanted to console her little boy.
I feel so sorry about her.
I hope the killer will be found soon.
Somebody left a paper with this text at the NK.
” Hur kan man döda en mamma?”
( How can anyone kill a mum? )
I´m asking it too.... :(
