There are 3 Per songs mentioned on BMI to which I can’t seem to find reference to anywhere (news archive, the forum...): “Beautiful Things Terrible Thing”, “Girl Like You” and “Hold On My Heart”... Hmm, could it be that I’ve missed something lately, or?...

Beautiful ... seems to be an early version of Beautiful Things

I knew “Hold On My Heart” sounded somewhat familiar as I could suere I had seen that title in the news page before... Finally found the article already! Still, thank you tevensso. :)
And this other title, “Beautiful Things Terrible Thing”, yes, it certainly does remind of the “Have A Nice Day” song, “Beautiful Things”!!... However, this one, “Beautiful Things Terrible Thing”, it is, according to the information on BMI’s site, written/composed by Per alone, which got me doubtful, whether both titles could refer to the one same song?... Anyone who may know more about this?...

Wasn’t it that Per first wrote Beautiful Things alone but got stuck with the music? Later he gave the song to Marie who came up with this brilliant melody-line.

I agree with Sascha: Per got stuck with the melody/music and so he gave it to Marie :-) I like Marie’s demo more than the version that ended up on HAND.

I think that the BMI listing of “Beautiful Things Terrible Things” is in fact the “Beautiful Things” on the HAND album... because the first verse starts with “Beautiful things...” and the second verse starts with “Terrible things...”.
Maybe Per listed the song with some other melody first.
I think that the HAND version is Roxette at their very best, the perfect combination of talents of Per and Marie.
All the best, Rich-UK

Well... Perhaps you are right... That was my immediate thought also, that those titles both referred to the same song, “Beautiful Things”... But what brought some doubt to me was: why then to register the same song under 2 different titles, I mean, shouldn’t it then be only the final version the one to be registered? (Or perhaps this logic of mine has no logic, I don’t know?... I mean, this seems to be an only case...) Then again, on the other hand, there’s also another detail, which also made me wonder: “Beautiful Things Terrible Thing” has a higher BMI # than “Beautiful Things”... I mean, I don’t know if one thing may have anything to do with the other, don’t know the real meaning of those BMI # and what they indeed stand for, as actually some songs that were released previously have higher BMI # than others that came out afterwards (ex. the ones from “The World According To Gessle” and the ones from “Have A Nice Day”)... So I don’t know, whether a higher BMI # does stand for a later registration (even when the release happened earlier?!)?... And, if so, then I shall go back to my initial doubt: if both titles do refer to the same one song, as we’re guessing, why then “Beautiful Things Terrible Thing” being registered after “Beautiful Things” itself? (Confess this is getting me a little all too confused!!...)

There are several songs registered with different titles. Maybe it’s because people often search under slightly wrong names?

“Hold On My Heart” has been released by Dutch group K-Otic. Never heard of the others.
