More peas please: Follow-up CD to be called “Power Peas”

Written by Pascal on August 19, 2002 to .

STOCKHOLM - Having tweaked the idea a bit, Roxette and EMI have changed the title of the second of the two upcoming compilation albums.

The CD with the best uptempo songs will be titled “PowerPeas – The Pop Hits” and not “PopPeas – The Beat Hits” as originally announced.

Cooool!!! Can’t wait any longer!!! Growing impatient for both cd’s. I hope they put Fireworks and Lies on this cd. I really can’t believe how many Roxette hits they’ve produced. A “frightenly catchy hit-making machine”-per Rolling Stone magazine(1992). I wonder what the two new songs will sound like–like SIMC or SDLHA? Can’t wait!!! Woo Hoo!!!

hope there’s another ’she don’t live here anymore’ cos that rocks like nothing i’ve heard, it def. kicks butt.

Why “Peas”? I find it ridiculous... I mean, at least they could have used a title simillar to that one of Gyllene Tider “Halmstads Pärlor”, it’s just 2 letters away = Peas -> Pearls. And it’s nicer.

They did used before simillar titles from Gyllene Tider (“Som regn på en akvarell” means “Like rain in a watercolour”-“Watercolours in the rain” or “Upphetsad” means “Excited”... for example), this time it would have been kind of better.

C’mon... does not “Love Pearls” sound better than Love Peas?
Does not “Power Pearls” sound better than Power Peas?

People will laugh at that: “Roxette - The Power Peas”... it’s like the title to a movie about some absurd american super-heroes (sorry for “american”, but they made more of this kind)

I hate Peas!!!!!!!

I don’t mind the title at all. I think it’s clever and never been used before. It seems every other rock artist copies off each other. At least we can say Roxette doesn’t do this when it comes to album titles. How original indeed. I will try and buy 3 copies of each so I can open one of each new cd and the rest go into my collection. If you’re a true fan Peas, Carrots or whatever they decide to call this won’t matter...why? Because it’s ROXETTE and they can do what ever the heck they want–it’s their music and talent not ours.

yeah yeah right but... but... PEAS!??????

I’ll give you a break!–how about I break some peas outta their shell. ahhhhhhhh peeeaaaaassss–what an album title–I LOVE it!!! wooohooo!!!!! peace

Maybe we’ll get lucky and get “Stupid” as a b-side of a cd single–whatever happened to this song anyway? Lars can you help out–sorry it’s not posted in small talk–im guilty.

Sweet actually! The beat hits as it was before would sound more like dance and not pop. And now it is really great.

and all you who moan so much go and find another band to listen to, seems like TDR is not a FAN forum anymore, everyone is bitching around instead! :(

guisantes del amor... ;) guisantes rockeros :DD

Well i think i can live with the titles and eventually maybe like them. In the beginning I thought C!B!B! and HAND weren’t that great, now I actually like them...

@the one above me, who posted anonymous
That’s exactly the way I think about the title!
If P&M would their GH just title Greatest Hits, or best of ballads or something like that, it would be a boring title, just less people would pay attention to it.
That title is perfect for the album, to be noticed by all magazines and radiostations. And I’m sure, that even MTV will mention the GH!

Well, I think that the title sounds good, but for me personally it would be better to a double-cd with 12 or 13 new songs because with this the new “album” would definitely sell well. This means: 1st cd should contain all power-singles and the 2nd new songs.

Oh no, Anonymous ... not again ... not this discussion, it’s old, and almost everyone has already complained about that!

And now we can start to look forward to 2 brandnew songs and the EP :)

I don’t like the album titles

Hmm...I think the same as all you other guys. @Anonymous: Nevermind. It’s your opinion and I accept it, there’s nothing else left for me ;o) But if you don’t like the titles...suggest a better one!

Does anyone have an idea of what the PopPeas album will have on it. If they don’t include some uptempos like Fireworks or Lies then I guess it’s only gonna be SIMC! off the C!B!B! album. Usually Roxette has at least 2-3 uptempo’s on each album. Who has an idea on the uptempo cd coming out? Church of your Heart isn’t any faster than Fading Like A Flower–is this gonna be on the album or not?

@ Lars–I asked you earlier in another article if Roxette’s new single would hit USA radio–you responded they have no representation here in the states anymore. Would a radio station get into trouble if they played their single–I mean could it be a repeat of what happened when “The Look” hit the radio by that foreign exchange student?

EDITOR’S REPLY: All of Roxette’s material is licensed for airplay (through organizations like BMI here in the States). Roxette eventually gets a royalty check. So, if a U.S. radio station wanted to play Roxette’s newer singles, there’s nothing preventing that. Keep in mind, however, that the situation is NOT the same now as it was in the days of “The Look.” While that may have started out as “grassroots” airplay in Minnesota, it only became a hit nationwide because there was a major record label (EMI-USA) that quickly arranged to take advantage of the situation and release it. Today, no such record company exists, and Per has told us that they’ve given up on the U.S. market. - LEO

So nice, isn´t it? Let´s fill de world of Rox compilations and expect
people to be interested. Besides, it´s so dumb to think nowadays that
six songs are enough to keep people´s interest for a new album. If they
want new audiences to look at what their doing, they might get more old
audience lost in the way. To make people be keen on a new release why
not making a new release instead? For God´s sake, who needs another
release of It must have been love or Listen to Your Heart.
Unbelievebable!

What about “Rox Peas” or “Roxy Peas”?

I don’t even want to imagine the laughs of each and every DJ here in Spain when they try to translate the title into Spanish. Every Tom, Dick and Harry will make fun of Roxette, the album and us, fans, of course.
Jud, Peter, who dares now to go to the radiostations again to let the fans know about ’Los Guisantes del Amor’? xD We’ll die of embarrassment!

Oh, I’m sure, I’m gonna dare to go into a shop an bye the GH, and if it’s needful, I’m gonna call all radiostations and make a song-wish incl. telling all the listeners about the LovePeas and PopPeas ...
I’m not gonna be embarrassed!
Why should I? Actually I already like the title by now, I’ve changed my mind from neutral to liking the title, it’s sweet and creative :)

Agus: you are right, goot i am in Austria now and I don´t have to go to any Spanish radio to promote the album ;D that´s Peter task!
Las patatas cañeras, los tomates llorones ...

Jud, i think Peter will dodge the issue! xD I’m joking, but I’d fully understand him...

Too much... :P

I would call the Power pop compilation “ROCK SET”, not “Power Beans”, “Vitaminic corn flakes” or whatever it was :P Will Roxette album be sold in groceries...? (june... :DDDDDDDDD)

I think Per and Marie should think about this title (I have not copyrighted it yet :-P), because it’s pronounced the same as “Roxette” and talks about rock... and is less absurd. I think with one “peas” compilation we have more than enough.

Well... who prefers “ROCK SET”?

Roxette’s Rock Set. I like it a lot! [I’ll even pass the idea along, but I believe the title is pretty much a done deal at this point]

The title makes me laugh because the word “pea” translated in italian has another meaning: it is...uhm...”male member”...do you understand what I mean? So when i think of these titles...”Love peas”... “Power peas” you can imagine!!!!

@Valeria

Ok, so I am getting SICK of this peas-thingy. The topic should be like “More songs please : Follow-up CD to be called “Power and-u-can-guess-what” or something.

Zee

P.S: I am afraid we might hear stuff like “Roxette Pees” or “Roxette?? phhulleezz!” as album names!

that little tidbit from lars is interesting considrering the majority of airplay surrounding roxette corresponded with cbb....very little else has been out here , even wicf which if it were supposedly in bmi’s distribution roster should have been playing in grocery stores and the like ...it never has. The simple truth is per and marie have seen that in europe success happens with little work, even they said that its different in america....and having families makes it harder to travel and such. My real disappointment is that we as american fans broke them here, even they said that before a us student mugggled a copy of look sharp to the staTES not a single usa lable wanted them, Now it feels as if we , the usa fans who bought nearly 10 million copies of their albums and single are being left in the dark and its a really hollo feeling

@ Pikappa

I live in America too–actually the state of Illinois(a state that appreciates live music) @ Coyboy–I heard WICF pleanty of times on radio. If I were to go to a local eatery I would hear WICF once in a while. Remember WICF was only a promotional cd here in the states(per- LEO). I ate at a restuarant called “Denny’s” and actually heard “Run To You”, “Place Your Love” and “The First Girl On The Moon” many of times from their C!B!B! album. It was nice to hear it above me while eating even though the rest of the people in the room probably didn’t have a clue who was singing–you can only hope for the best though. Coyboy–what state are you from?

“The Powerfull Peas” must be the title!!

Well, we must respect what Roxette have decided to do. We all will buy these vegetarian albums and It will be funny to see “Roxette-Love Peas/Power Peas” in the stores.

PS. I liked “Room Service” as a title. In Fact I liked all the titles...

i am from new jersey wicf was played twice on wplj 95.5 the day they performed in new york anfd that was it...the reason you heard allt he songs from cbb waas the whole album except for the singles was distributed to bmi-cema special markets for mass play..nothing else of theirs has ever surfaced

Will “A Thing About You” be sent to the US as a promotional cd single like WICF? WICF was sent to promote the past Greatest Hits CD so will they(EMI) try using this up-coming Per ballad as one also?

EDITOR’S REPLY: The “they” back then (WICF)was Edel America, and they’re no longer in the picture. EMI is also not in the picture, when it comes to Roxette in the States (according to their contract with Roxette). Get the picture?!? - LEO

Get it, got it, good. :oP”“”“

Anyone in an English speaking country will take the “peas” out of that title!
Its just giving the critics some cannon fodder to play with! as if they haven’t got enough already :P

I think after 15 years of bad reviews all over the world(even in their own country) for Roxette–and some few that were positive– I think Roxette could care less–and so should the fans. Peas, it’s just a word!?! Let the critics do what they were going to do anyway. Anyway, peas are good for you....

ROCK SET sounds great, but sooner or later we’re just going to have to accept the fact that, like it or loath it, the name ’Peas’ is here to stay.

I still can’t belive the name will be “PowerPeas”.
C’mon, change that stupid name and call it “PowerPewarls”.
As well as for the fothcoming album, try “Love Pealrs” (It reminds Perals of Passion, Roxette’s first album)
I think (me and many more) Perls is better than Peas.

Mmm... I guess that for Alfonsette:

“pewarls” = “perals” = “perls” = “PEARLS”

Hello, evrybody! Is it so hard to take it as it is? Quit grumbling and enjoy. I guess it is LOVE ME - LOVE MY PEAS!
