Power pop compilation coming in spring
Written by roxeteer on August 10, 2002 to Releases.
STOCKHOLM - In addition to the ballad compilation in the autumn of this year, Roxette is releasing a collection of their greatest power pop songs in the spring of 2003. Both compilations will include two new songs and an extra EP with previously unreleased songs. According to Per’s comments in Aftonbladet, the new pop songs featured on the forthcoming compilation will be in the style of “Sleeping In My Car”.
Per and Marie haven’t had any plans to release an all-new studio album for a while. “The previous album, ’Room Service’, was released last year. We’re 43 years old, for heaven’s sake, so we’re going to take it a little easy,” says Per.

Sounds great! I hope the EP songs are really unreleased and not just slightly different versions. Seems like we’ll get at least 6 new songs per compilation. SIMC style, wow!

Dear Per ;
You are 43 years old not 63 years old.I’m sure you are young and creative enough to release a new album every year.Don’t put yourself down!!

@ shama: An EP (“extended player”?) is a mini album with 4 or 5 songs.
@ yashar: Of course they could. But they don’t have to. The situation isn’t that brilliant nowadays (illegal copies, record companies in crisis etc.) so P&M wait a bit.

omg if you add up the ep’s its technically gonna be 3 albums of material hehehe this si gonna rock so long as those ep’s aren’t compilations of b-sides or crap like that
our dreams may have finally come true

Can anyone say DREAM COME TRUE??? Oh HELL YEAH!!!
SLEEPING IN MY CAR style!? OH HELL YEAH!
Looks like Roxette is preparing to “SOUND” like Roxette again. I have waited sooo long for this kinda stuff cuz C!B!B! was the last TRUE Rox style album by Roxette.
I love you Per, I love you Marie, I love ROXETTE! :)

An EP...well...
They could very well be all new songs, but for some reason, I doubt it. If they were new songs, they might as well include them on the album itself, not as a separate disc.
So, for the ballads compilation, the EP could include b-side tracks like...
The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye
Better Off On Her Own
See Me
...or perhaps different versions of ballads:
Listen To Your Heart (U.S. Remix)
It Will Take A Long Long Time (Modern Rock Version)
HMMM. But if they are “previously unreleased” - then they shouldn’t be including these b-sides since they are now released.
The same goes for the “power pop” compilation.

I don’t think the EP will be the single. The article says “both compilations will include ... an extra EP”. Per did this before with Gyllene Tiders greatest hits. It will be included extra CDs and the singles will feature additional b-sides!
