Is It true that about Roxette's DVD?

Is it true that, despite the fact that the dvd says PAL encoding, it can be watched on NTSC players?

ahhh, that must be why it does not play on my dvd player, only on the computer - so i have to buy one that can also play PAL? does anyone know if they sell any like that in the US?
it’s well worth owning even if you can only see it on the pc, though.

YES! There is a DVD player that you can purchase IN THE USA that can play the Roxette DVD.
The brand is called Mintek... Mine says Mintek DVD-1600. You can find it at Best Buy for under $50.00 USD. It plays VCDs, DVDs, Picture Discs and you can even get it to play some of the video files that you have on your computer. It was really worth it!
I bought it specificaly to play my international DVDs that I can’t play on the Zenith my father spent a fortune on! :P (Go figure!)
Search around for it. You might be able to find it on eBay, Buy.com, half.com or just try calling several electronic places. I really do not know if Best Buy is carrying it anymore. This one I bought... I’d say about...3-4 months ago. Maybe a little bit more.
Just in case the Mintek has changed, if you buy it and the Rox DVD doesn’t play, just save all of your receipts and the box and take it back. But I know for sure that on mine and about 3 other people that have that DVD player, the Rox and Marie DVD do play.
What ticks me off if that you’d figure that people would learn, after so much shit from VHS tapes to make either the player or the DVDs themselves region free. I think they’d make so much more money. It’s a conspiracy! ;)

Hi. Sorry guys - I completely missed this thread for some reason.
Yes, Region 0 DVDs that are in Pal can be viewed on a few North American players and can be viewed on most computers equiped with dvd drives.
Consult your DVD player’s manual on what can and cannot be played. Some are pal compatible but will require a pal compatible television set and some with actually convert Pal into NTSC, this resulting in a signal that can be viewed on any NTSC TV.
If your DVD player isn’t pal compatible, i’ve listed a few players on my site at the following url :

The Apex brand players are quite inexpensive and convert PAL into NTSC. They can be found in Canada at Future Shop and Home Hardware. Americans can try their local Best Buy but I understand they may no longer carry them. They can still be ordered online though.

If the NTSC DVD-player can view PAL discs, yes. If not, then no.
