New “Greatest Hits” album to be released in June
Written by tevensso on January 22, 2002 to Roxette.
STOCKHOLM - Roxette will release another ’Greatest Hits’ album in June… or maybe even two. “We don’t know yet,” said Li Eriksson at EMI. As an enticement, the album will include two or three new songs along with the big hits.
The thought is to precede the album(s) release with a single in May. Per thinks this it’s going to be a hit.
“I feel it in my gut when I’m working with a song if it’s going to be a hit or not. But the most important thing is that it’s fun to work,” he said.

thankssssssssss goodddddddd it’s the great solution, another roxette album in less than a year!!!!!!!!! i hope they put some live and acoustic recordings on it, it will be GREATTTTTTT!!!!!
but i’m afraid they start like Bryan Adams, in the period 1990-1999 he record more greatest hits albums than new material.

Well... once again Roxette´s policies have proven to be the surprising ones. In my opinion the idea of releasing a new GH-compilation is kinda weck. I don´t know who´s supposed to buy this one except for some truely hardcore fans. You got the old big hits which have already been released on DBUGTTC plus some not-so-much-hit-singles plus some “new” songs most people won´t be interested in. The only chance to make this work is a real big single, and I´m talking about a real big one, not the HAND and RS type of singles. And making hit singles hasn´t been Roxette´s favour in the latest history. Well... Per says it´s gonna be big... Per always says it´s gonna be big. Don´t know, I´m quite sceptical about this. We´ll see.
And what about this “Stupid”-rerecording? Is this the big thing coming up? Wow... don´t think this will work as a Roxette single... at least commercially... maybe it will give them some credibility together with this Akerlund movie. Weird, really weird!

Why?
Release and EP,, or a Tourism, with some new and some live and som unreleased,,
No new compilation!
I don’t really believe there will be a compilation our a tour, but I might be wrong. But my guess is that this is all a rumour!
tevensso (moderator) said on January 23, 2002 09:07:
This is now mostly denied by EMI, but EMI has denied things before that have been uncovered. So even if the tour part is not true I’ve heard from other sources that an album is in the pipeline. I even heard a name for it, but since they deny it I see no point in telling.

Hej,
It would be absolutely fantastic if they will release a new (or old) album.
But I read on roxettenews.com that EMI response what Metro wrote. No confirmation about the dates and the tour.
Hopefully, EMI is wrong!!!

they better do it right this time by releasing and promoting it in the US + Canada under a credible record company.
wonder if they will have another album with all new material within the next 3 years ...

not another ripping off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! grrrrr if they wanna go on tour + promote the tour, get ur butts moving + release an EP or something NEW, we are fed up with spending our money with the copy number 192831928 of the look!!!!!!

AGAIN?????
Of course I’ll buy if it’s true because I love them but once again a GTH?
I don’t know but I think it’s not true. I believe that Per has some new material.
Well, let’s wait.

I wouldn’t be happy at all with another Greatest Hits..... what for? no one will buy it cos they already have one... and then if a G.H. album dont sell kinda well people says “gee they are really finished”...
an E.P. is a great idea.

I’m happy to read something new about Roxette here...:-)
And I’m quite happy with another release, but if
they release something like this, they have to make it big!
Not only a greatest hits album with 2 or 3 mew tracks...that’s boring for us fans. If they put some rare new and fresh songs in perhaps 2 cd’s or something like this...this would be a big hit.
But i’ll buy everything of Roxette... :-)
DaRoxKitten said on January 23, 2002 13:35:
aww- peeps! ’or maybe even two’??
ya know, im gonna buy it anways but thats no good idea! the room service DVD was good because of the old material but not yet another GH! dont end up sounding desperate!!
EP is a very good idea...
id really rather wait another few months for another album with all-new stuff than hear all the songs again that i already have anywayzz.
so, plzzzz, think about it once again!

Hmm??? Well of course it is nice to have another album...but there has only been two albums since they released “Don’t bore us...”. Won’t this damage their credability? But 3 new songs and a summer tour sounds great!!!
Mfan28179-Jason said on January 23, 2002 18:59:
A new “Greatest Hits” obviously doesn’t make sense. I would hope that it would not be repeating songs already on “Don’t Bore Us.” But if it’s not, what do you have left? Basically a HAND/RS compilation, which really doesn’t make sense. But, if they were to include a “Greatest Hits” featuring songs not on the original “Don’t Bore Us” that could work. A possible tracklisting could include:
1. Church Of Your Heart
2. Queen Of Rain (Edit)
3. Fingertips ’93
4. Fireworks (Single Edit)
5. Run To You
6. The Look ’95
7. Wish I Could Fly (Radio Edit/Fade Out Version)
8. Anyone (Radio Edit)
9. Stars
10. Salvation (Single Edit)
11. The Centre Of The Heart
12. Real Sugar
13. Milk And Toast And Honey
14. New Song (Stupid?)
15. New Song
16. New Song
The above tracklisting seems a bit odd with it just skipping around songs that were already on the original “Greatest” compilation. I just could not imagine them releasing a “Greatest Hits” with songs like The Look, It Must Have Been Love, Joyride, Wish I Could Fly, and The Centre Of The Heart...could you? Maybe that’s what they will do instead. HMMM. Then you could have something like...
The Look
Listen To Your Heart
It Must Have Been Love
Joyride
Fading Like A Flower
How Do You Do!
Sleeping In My Car
Crash! Boom! Bang!
You Don’t Understand Me
Wish I Could Fly
Anyone
Stars
Salvation
The Centre Of The Heart
Real Sugar
Milk And Toast And Honey
New Song (Stupid?)
New Song
What do you think?
I agree that something else besides a Gr. Hits would be nice - especially if it gets a US release.

ernes said on January 24, 2002 01:50:
NO NO NO, It’s not a good idea to release a new Greatest Hits album with only 2 new albums. That’s a BAD new, I’d rather prefer to wait more for a normal album.
The Look and Joyride again???? NO PLEASE!!!!!.

Why do you think so I think that THE LOOK and JOYRIDE is on if the bests songs they have
gesslefan_no1 said on January 24, 2002 03:02:
hmmm... I don´t think this is a really good idea... They should think about it one more time because there is just some rox-fans who will buy this one because they want the few new tracks. The rest of the word will not care that much!! Make a complete new album (or why not a live-cd, as some of you alrady mentioned) instead. But maybe that´s just what they are going to do, maybe there is no greatest hits...
gesslefan_no1 said on January 24, 2002 03:07:
@zandra:
hey!!
I also do think that the look and those are the best, but they have already released them several times, people get tired of them no one buyes a cd full of songs they already own.
I think it would be so sad to get tired of those GREAT songs, but the chances to that is very big with a new GH, isn´t they??
majaodendaal said on January 24, 2002 05:25:
I feel gutted!! Listen, dearest Per, yu are a musical phenomenon and Marie, you sing with a power not yet seen coming from other stars, you are in a class of your own!! I absolutely agree, a GH album is NOT a good idea because you rehash the old to look nw and that is not a good marketing strategy at all! What Roxette needs is to show these sausage machine artists a thing or two by releasing fresh, new power songs and ballads that are their trademark, and hits that will reach no 1! Especially here in the UK, where most people I talk to think Rox is dead!! Bloody cheek nd all, I say, but Per and Marie, you must prove that you are alive and well and stil rocking by releasing new material!!!
Room Service was not even adverised here, so the only song known to the public is MATAH,RS and TCOTH were nt even released here.....disgusting!!!
I SAY KNOCK EM DEAD WITH THE POWER OF NEW SONGS AND SHOW YOUR TRUE WORTH!!

Greeting from Asia!!
so nice to hear it..., so many pleasure in my mind!!! surely it would be a better greatest hits, coz the previous one is far away than enough... there is so many hits was absent there, like “What she likes”, “Run to You”, “Silver Blue” etc. and certainly with the addition hit list from the fresh HAND and Room Service, plus New Songs!!, if it is possible, it would be better if they released it on 2 Volume!!,
Pikappa said on January 25, 2002 01:24:
I think they’ll do something like Bon Jovi did some years ago, the will make a double album with the same songs in both of them (except for the new singles), one with the original ones, the other with live or acoustic versions..
WHiTeSHaDoW said on January 28, 2002 01:37:
An other GH-cd? Why? Make some new stuff! I think a lot of fans want that!
dethaddr said on February 9, 2002 19:19:
I way hope that they put more songs like “Do You get Excited” and “Watercolours in the Rain” in it... also “Thing Will Never be the Same” never got the attention it deserved. Put those with “7Twenty7” “Stars” and “Staring at the Ground” and you’ve got the makings for a good sleeper hit CD!!!
detanovernu-in-... said on February 14, 2002 07:08:
hej!
i think this is a crap idea!
why not record a whole new album? people dont want another “dont bore us!”!!! roxette should do a whole new album, but if they do they have to make “room service” a distant memory! when joyride came out you could hear the soud difference from pre programed to rocky guitars!!!
every song on that album you can hear the trademark “gretsch” and “rickenbacker” guitars. you could even hear them in a couple of the ballads!!!! much different from the previos “look sharp!” and pearls of passion” projects. “joyride” was a turning point. then “tourism” came out but it is hard to comment as it had both live and studio tracks. (most of the studio tracks being pre and post joyride leftovers) then it was “crash”and with crash in came those F***ing strings! i must admit “have a nice day” was not bad as i loved the fast songs! and a few half way to becomming dance tracks. but i waited so long for “room service” and when i heard it i thought what the hell r they doing?! “tcoth” and “real sugar” are the best songs on the album also “mmhgp” so when you go to make the next albu you should take those songs in to account and try to bring back the pop/rock sound with maybe 3 or 4 ballads! and oh by the way, i thought roxette were a duo?!?! it seems nowdays per is just a back up singer! it should be like the oldays, 50/50 not 75/25 in maries favour!!!! so with all that in account roxette should go and make a new studio album what sounds like “twatg” and gyllene tider’s “EP” but with marie singing too! and no strings and ballads that r so slow you fall asleep listening to them. roxette are a pop band not “easy listening” or “relaxation music”!!!!!!!!! but whatever you do DON”T RELEASE A 2nd GREATEST HITS ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
regards,
Brad, Australia
p.s. marie, why dont you let per sing a bit more on your next album as he is the brain of roxette and does 99% of the work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think isn’t a good idea at all a new greatest hits now because they should wait for another album with new material, why they stop to promote their music in USA???
I was in NY and a bought the room service album in the virgin megastore and cost me 27 dolars i asked why was so expensive and they told me that is considerated and exportation...With a price like that on one Cd how thw expect to go at least in the top 10???Impossible only for rich people!!!
