Sarah Brightman - Harem
clerk said on May 5, 2003 06:56:
I bought Sarah’s new album ’Harem’ this weekend.
I think she’s great.
I’m just wondering if there’re more people here that love this singer (besides Rox ofcourse) aswell!
clerk said on May 5, 2003 08:32:
Hi Storm, how are you? Haven’t been away really... just stayed at the background.
I really like Here With Me aswell, one of my favorites. Didn’t know that she recorded it earlier than Dido..or Di(l)do..lol
I have never seen the ’Eden’ video.:( The only ones I saw are ’Whiter shade of pale’ and ’Time to say goodbye’...
I saw her in concert twice, hopefully she will go on tour again!
Jackie_Radiorox said on May 6, 2003 14:38:
She’s great! I love “Deliver Me”
I saw her do “Phantom of the opera” live with Antonio Banderas (YES the actor!) and it was GREAT! She has an amazing range on her voice.
Th_Th said on May 6, 2003 15:31:
YES!! Deliver me is such a great song!!!
I think one of my favs would be:
“There is no one like you”
clerk said on May 7, 2003 06:41:
They used ’Deliver Me’ for the movie ’Brokedown Palace’. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the ’Eden’-album.
@Th_Th That track is from the ’Timeless’-album, isn’t it?
@Jackie I would have loved to see that!!
Th_Th said on May 7, 2003 07:55:
clerk, yes, it was on the timeless CD.
Did anyone here ever listen to her “Fly” CD? I honestly think, it must be one of the greatest Albums in Music History. I just love it to bits and adore every song on it.
clerk said on May 7, 2003 08:30:
’Fly’ is a great album!! I have got a special edition of that one, including three versions of ’How can heaven love me’. That song is full of energy, I think. And I can’t get enough of ’A Question of honour’.
I think it’s great that she always picks a theme for her albums.
@Storm What gregorian project? Tell me more..
Stormkeeper said on May 7, 2003 09:49:
some English monks, German producers and voila! :D
There are 3 albums released by them and they are quite succesful from Europe to Asia.
clerk said on May 7, 2003 10:07:
Thanks for the info, Storm!
Now I know what you meant! No suprise really that Sarah joined, cause Frank Peterson happens to be her producer... and boyfriend aswell.
Stormkeeper said on May 7, 2003 10:16:
boyfriend? I though she´s married to Andrew Lloyd Webber! Check Moment Of Peace from their 2nd album if you can, very beautiful track and Sarah´s vocals are amazing as always :D
clerk said on May 7, 2003 11:40:
She was married to Lloyd Webber, not anymore.
I will check out the song as soon as I get home,
I probably have it, but I’m just not that familiar with her early work. Rarely listen to it. But I’ll check it out!!
Are there more people who have heared the new album yet? I think it’s sort of a mixture between ’Eden’ and ’Fly’.
Th_Th said on May 7, 2003 12:01:
Serious? Harem is a mixture of Fly and Eden? I am going to get her CD during my lunch brake now then!
Are there even songs as good as from Fly on it? Songs such as, How can heaven love me (which is one of my all time favs to this day!)... Die Welt ein Tor, und Tausend Wüsten Stumm und Kalt, wer Das Velor, was du verlorst.... Just love it! ;-)
I guess there is no other song as good as Quesiton of Honour, as this song is simply unique.
So, are the new songs as good as the ones from fly?
clerk said on May 7, 2003 12:13:
Like you said before, ’Fly’ is a unique album, very hard to make a record that sounds that good!
’Eden’ and ’La Luna’ were very “slow” albums. But ’Harem’ is very much a pop-album. Arabian Nights with a beat... I think, no I’m sure you will like it! I can’t stop playing it... It gives you a good feeling!
I really like ’It’s A Beautiful Day’, ’What A Wonderful World ’, ’Free’, ’Beautiful’ and ’Harem’.
btw Only the japanese version is out yet, europian version will follow in 2 or 3 weeks...
clerk said on May 7, 2003 12:20:
The bonustrack ’Sarahbande’ on the japanese version is also great!!
Th_Th said on May 7, 2003 15:47:
So is the CD not out yet officially? I saw a new collection of her greatest hits recently... but no sign of the “Harem” Album...
is it out yet officially in Europe?

I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper was remixed some years ago. Do you like or dislike it?
powerpoplarry said on May 20, 2003 00:14:
I wanted to like Sarah, I really did, as I usually love the type of music she does. Something about her tone I can’t stand, I can’t explain it. She’s like a bad version of Sandra Cretu, or Dido overblown. Maybe a bad new agey version of Kate Bush?? She just rubs me the wrong way, plus she’s not a songwriter either...I’m really sorry, but I just don’t like Sarah’s singing...
clerk said on May 20, 2003 06:35:
That’s ok Larry. Imagine if we all liked the same things...
@Storm I only know one version of the song, so I’m not sure wich version I know, if you know what I mean....
derek said on August 18, 2003 17:31:
i havent heard the new cd yet but i like her. great voice. hey storm how are you? have you been staying in the back ground to

*grabs a rope and drags the topic back to the top of the list*
I have “Harem” and I REALLY dig the album. If she continues as she has in the past, then this will be the “Harem Tour”. I went to her “La Luna” concert here in SLC, and unfortunately missed “Eden”. NOT THIS TIME. I plan on going to this as soon as I know one way or the other.
This really is a good album.
MiracleMan said on September 6, 2003 16:53:
@Stormkeeper
“Here With Me” was written by Dido Armstrong, Paul Statham, and Pascal Gabriel, and was released on her album No Angel 1 June 1999.
Sarah Brightman’s cover version of the song appeared on her 29 August 2000 release La Luna.
While the crass derision of her is clear, the proper credit to Dido should go where the proper credit is due.
LittleSpooky said on September 6, 2003 17:22:
My question is:
Who gives a rat’s rear end who recorded what first? I don’t. I’m sorry I brought it up again.
MiracleMan said on September 6, 2003 19:37:
@Spooky
Not trying to start a pissing contest, just wanted to correct the misinformation.
clerk said on September 8, 2003 06:29:
So MiracleMan which version do you prefer?
btw the ’Harem Tour’ is on it’s way, so I’ve heard!
MiracleMan said on September 8, 2003 06:46:
Honestly, I prefer Dido’s. I’d seen the video and it stuck with me until I bought the CD. My favorite song on No Angel, I think.
As for Brightman, there’s just something about her voice that rubs me completely the wrong way. I can’t really listen to her for very long, and I dislike watching her even more. I know millions love her, but me, not so much.
robmc said on September 8, 2003 10:07:
I like “Harem” but I prefer her “Dive” and “Eden” CDs. My favorite of her recordings are her musical theater works with Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Alfonsette said on September 8, 2003 20:23:
Sara brightman is my favorite artist after Roxette.
“Deliver me”, “Eden”, “The phantom of the opera (Dance version)”... are one of my favorite songs ever, I nearly have all her albums, only two original as it’s difficult to find her albums in Spain.
My oppinion about the new album is that is her worst one, for me all songs are boring and have no energy, exept the cover of “Harem” that was one of my favorites songs years ago, and her version is the best of the 3 ones I’ve heard.
The original song is called “Cançao do mar”
Alfonsette said on September 10, 2003 20:09:
Yes, I have two.
For me the dance version is better than the original (that hardly happens) Sara’s voice seems more powerful
Both dance version are nearly the same exept for one that is much more longer due to a large arrangement

Got a bit behind in rent... no biggie. Made arrangements to make it up. So thought all was good. SOB decided to sell to his nephew... and as of December 31, 2003, the house belongs to the nephew. By law, the 30 days HAS to be given.
More to follow I s’pose.
clerk said on January 21, 2004 14:47:
The pics of the first concert look great!
It suppose to be better than La Luna.
So are you even more excited now Spooky?!
LittleSpooky said on January 22, 2004 03:42:
I wish I could be excited, but with all the problems going on in my life... I can’t get excited over much right now.
Stormkeeper said on May 5, 2003 08:06:
Well I am not a fan of hers but I like her versions of Here With Me and especially Scarborough Fair. “Eden” is amazing, video too. She recorded HWM far before Di(l)do.
clerk where have you been? :D
