... or does the link time out on the discussion board?

What *I* mean is: when I’m too slow with writing a reply, and I finally submit it, I get a page saying “the page you’re trying to see is only for registered users” or sth along these lines. When I try to go back, what I had just written in the textbox isn’t there anymore. Sometimes I’m not even able to go back, I get the same message (“page for registered users”)...

I avoid that by clicking on the “remember me” box. Well, but if you don’t use your own computer you can’t do so...

There seems to be some problem with the session, but I haven’t been able to figure it out. I personally haven’t had any problems with sudden logouts. You can quite safely use “remember me”, because if you manually log out, the browser won’t remember you anymore.

GUYS!! I had this problem too! ;-) And this is how I fixed it for me. I ticked that little box, that sais: “Keep me signed in” or something like that, since then I never had this problem again! ;-)

Writing in the notepad and then copy and paste is a good thing to do with long replies...

Yeah, I always do that. I think it’s logic, if you’ve been writing for too long you won’t need to write it again.

I don’t know if TDR is hosted on an IIS 5.0. Every server has a SESSION TIME-OUT (abondon) settings. By default it is 90 seconds which means 1.5 min. If you have to type a long post orr you type slow then I would suggest the thing whcih is mentioned earlier i.e. use NOTEPAD and type anythign u would like to. Save it on Desktop and when u post it simply copy (select all and press Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+v) it in the form field where you type your posts.
Cheers
P.S: I still miss that reply notifier that used to be here on TDR.

Another problem .... since 2 days ago when I want to post something after posting when my browser is back in the amin page I see that there are 2 posts!!!!

TDR is hosted on Apache on an Unix machine. There is a session timeout and it’s true that it may be the culprit here. However, changing the way things work would require a major overhaul to the software.
As I said before, if you have problems with the system logging you out unexpectedly, try to log in with the “remember me” box checked. If you’re using a public computer, don’t forget to log out before you leave.

I think so too...
