should light someone’s fire. As I have a ton of time on my hands while I work, I let my mind wander. For those who don’t know, I drive for the local public transit, and I can basically do that in my sleep. So, back to topic at hand. I periodically let songs run through my head and this thought popped into it:
What if Roxette was a “one-hit wonder”. What that means is a band that was made popular with only one hit: Dexy’s Midnight Runner with “Come On Eileen”, Wild Cherry with “Play That Funky Music”, KC and the Sunshine Band. While technically, KC’s not a one hit wonder, pick any 2 songs and it’s one song, just different lyrics. I can’t think of the 2 songs that are the most obvious with that, but it’s there.
Sure, folks have bought the albums that have these songs on them, and they get royalties every time the song is played, but what if “The Look” was the only one that sold for Roxette?
Strange thoughts happen when I’m bored.

@ Jason
And that “one hit” isn’t ’The Look’; more likely ’IMHBL’.
Sometimes I ask ppl what they think of Roxette, but all they do is start humming ’Sleeping In My Car’!

Roxette - ’one-hit-wonder’?? NEVER!
A really ’one-hit-wonder’ is when a group just have ’one-hit’ in their carrear!
(Maybe they release another song...but nobody wants to hear it...)
And after this ’one-hit’ nobody hears from them again! You can’t say that about Roxette!

Diny: You missed the point. It was more of a “What if...” I do that sometimes. And it’s not necessarily that no one wants to hear the other song(s) the artist has done, it’s a case of it didn’t go anywhere with anything else. Eiffel65 is one. They had like 2 popular songs off their CD and that was it. KC and the Sunshine Band, numerous hit songs, but all they were was the same music, just different lyrics to the music.
I know Roxette’s not a one hit wonder. Just because I live in the US doesn’t mean I’m an idiot. This was just a thought and I wanted to see if anyone else could expound on that. I’m almost sorry I asked.

Oh, and animalkingdom? I was using “The Look” as an example. That was pretty much the one that broke through to the world. As I said, it was a “What if...” as in “What if ’The Look’ was their only hit, and they became a one hit wonder?”
To re-state, I’m almost sorry I asked this....

I would have bought the CD, but wouldn’t bother coming to the internet to a fan site... I bought “The Tuesdays” CD and a CD by “El Norte” (Spanish). They are both truly one hit bands (“It’s up to you” from The Tuesdays and “Entre tú y yo” from El Norte). The Cd’s are nice, and both songs are great... I would recommend a download at least :D

techincally vix ls was a big seller internationally but when they ran out of money...wel emi usa did to promote ls roxette vanished till joyride...joyride got all the attention so by default cbb became their sophmore album here in the usa ...its tricky and stupid

I really don’t agree that Look Sharp! was a small hit in the US and Joyride was the default first record...I grew up in the middle of New Mexico and remember seeing all of the videos made for the LS! album on TV. Friday Night Videos (not cable but regular TV) was where I first laid eyes on Roxette. Also, when Joyride was released The Look and Listen to Your Heart were still on heavy rotation. I really didn’t notice there was about a year in between the two records.
I think the reason why Roxette suffered so much in the US is the whole McDonald’s Favorites Album...In fact, I can’t find the original album but only the Favorites in any second-hand store.

But the sad thing is...some people think Roxette is a one-hit wonder!
“I really liked her song!”
