I stumbled across this short Q&A session on Billboard magazine where someone asked about Roxette, check it out here:
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/thisday/ask-billboard-roxette-whitney-hou...
Basically it gives Roxette’s sales for Look Sharp!, Joyride and Tourism
“Joyride” (1991), 1,289,000
“Look Sharp!” (1989), 408,000
“Tourism” (1992), 278,000
as well as Roxette Hits! having sold 36,000 units in the US !
Then some stuff about Party Crasher and what Per has said in regard to more Roxette !
Interesting.

36,000? That’s nothing. Even less than nothing.

Thank you for the link. An interesting news indeed.
As a fan from outside the US, it doesn’t really matter to me if Roxette make a comeback in the US or not. For me, Roxette days in the US are over, but their success there had earned them a strong fan base all over the world. And I’m sure Roxette is not forgotten by fans in the US, in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, anywhere you name it :-)
I just hope that they will continue to make new albums. If Roxette has a new album, fans from all the over the world will buy it...

It may be nothing, but for a release without any promo it’s not that bad? is it?
I doubt anyone in the US even know there were any albums released after the “Crash debacle”.

I heard Don’t Bore Us sold 50,000 and that was promoted heavily, with a tour even. Both of these are Greatest Hits packages and should’ve sold millions, literally.

It was released under Emi/capitol label? Nice to see writers that write positively about roxette. To put 100.000 copies of PC in USA would be fantastik

Maybe a real hit for Per in the states would boost Rox sales a bit?
36000 in the US, that has to be almost the same amount as the sales in Sweden.

36,000 ? Without any promo ?
And it’s just with 2 new songs!
It’s not bad at all!
Comparing to the less than 100 Party Crusher Cd that Per and Helena duo sold in Germany as you assumed few days ago.
Lets hope that these number will raise soon.
And this may happend if they don’t show this awful video clip. :-))
chrisjankunas do you know hom many 20 years Roxette Hits were sold in the whole world?

Comment from the Per:
Hey hey! I read the article too. Fun! I just want to mention that the numbers for LS! and Joyride are incorrect since he only mentions sales after the SoundScan system came in use (the end of 1991). LS! sold much better than Joyride if I remember correctly. Hits! has sold just shy of a million worldwide.

@Emil
PC release in Germany is the 27.02.09. 1month left to the official release!
So the 100 copys might be imports via amazon.de and other onlineshops. I´ve got mine via amazon.de too, but would buy another album if Roberta and Glad that... were on it.

But as far as I remember Per was in States in 2007 in order to promote “Hits!”, though no one knows what he did there ;)
Roxette-atic said on January 25, 2009 14:23:
HAs “HITS!” sold 1 million copies? Thats more than I thought... My guess would have been 250 000 copies or something...
I think 36 000 is a lot, but if you are talking USA-standards then its nothing.
Raëlian said on January 25, 2009 18:20:
1 million copies is a lot if you consider that these days most of the people download music illegaly from the net. It’s not the same scenario than in 1988-1991. Back in those days there was no internet or CD burners. You had to buy the real thing or get a copy on cassette from a friend (but that didn’t affect sales at all). That’s why you could sell 5-10 millions then, now that’s quite impossible.
Roxette-atic said on January 25, 2009 22:35:
yea...1 million is a lot..I agree. Has potential to sell more.. But it is a lot.
James_Earp said on January 26, 2009 07:05:
Yea as Per says LS has sold much more than the 400 000 copies the articel mentions. According to Record industry association of america, RIAA, both LS and Joyride has sold platina (1 000 000 copies) in America.
