Spanish version to include “No Se Si Es Amor” in place of “A Thing About You”

BUENOS AIRES - According EMI Spain, the Spanish version of the Roxette Hits collection will include “No sé si es amor” (the Spanish version of “It Must Have Been Love”) instead of “A Thing About You” when the CD is released on October 16.

It is not yet known for certain if EMI units in other Spanish-speaking countries will follow suit, but The Daily Roxette knows that EMI Argentina is aware that fans there would prefer that “Reveal” be retained, and the expectation is that they will do the same.

What a pity! The ballads in Spanish were never of my taste because of the translations that Escolar made, but “No se si es amor” is not, by far, the best of them. They could have chosen “Un dia sin ti” which, in fact, was the single.
And they never should have replaced ATAY. Strange decisions made by people who don’t know a lot about music (sorry EMI)

No way! They killed those songs in first place when Escolar translated them, so why insist?? A thing About You is a beautiful song, I think is a terrible decision to change it for No Sé Si Es Amor, definetly Per doesn’t understand the lyrics in Spanish...
Any way, I won’t buy that edition, I will buy it from Sweden...

you know, when i was told a spanish song would be included in the gh i thought it was going to be “un dia sin ti”. but i didn´t like the idea of replacing “spending my time”, which was actually the biggest roxette hit ever, here in argentina. (apart from IMHBL, of course). do you guys remember people´s reaction when SMT was performed live? it was awesome! so, i think it is a good idea to have another song instead of “un dia sin ti”, which was successful here, but not as much as spending... on the other hand, ATAY was not a big hit, neither here or anywhere else, so... i like the song but that doesn´t change its chart positions (if any). NSSEA wasn´t huge either, but anyway. to sum up, i like the idea that there´s a spanish track included, and i´m glad it is not UDST.

I think it is normal. You gotta understand that many people like the Spanish versions, though normally is people that don’t speak English, so they don’t come here to say they like them (and they don’t really know how much Mr. Escolar wasted the lyrics).
I’m sure EMI should know, they have the figures of the sales of all the stuff, and wake up, this is business, not a fan-pleasing hotline.

So replacing a “lesser hit” by a probably better known song for many in Spanish speaking countries (everyone does know It Must Have Been Love!) and that many people actually hold dear over here, is not a catastrophe. Grow up and relax, you all have A Thing About You in another Greatest Hits released 4 years ago, it’s not such a big deal...

I think some of you are very “totalitarian” in the sense that you want everyone to like the same as you do... Take it easy, it’s just another GH...

Just think that it is so much better than replacing Reveal!! :O

Well, we were gonna have a Spanish song anyway, so...
Besides, are you really gonna buy the THIRD greatest hits in 11 years?? As far as I’m concerned, it’s not such a big deal if “No Se Si Es Amor” is included and I guess that it’s the same for most of us, taking into account that most fans won’t get this GH.
Perhaps the biggest “mistake” was recording that crap Balladas album, because thanks to that album it seems that it’s sort of compulsory including a song in Spanish in this Greatest Hits and the ones to follow (the one for the 25th anniversary, the one for the 30th anniversary... :p)

Oh, c’mon, don’t be that extreme! Roxette is not over because the bloody song in Spanish is included in the GH...
Let’s see what happens in the future with Roxette. After Marie’s illness, we should be patient and understanding. Whatever it comes, it will be good news (well, maybe everything but the Rox-Box track-list :p)

But on the other hand, I really admire the fact they released a whole album in Spanish. It could have been German or Dutch (remember they have a great fan base in Germany and The Netherlands). But no, it was in Spanish! It is a Latin language and I suppose it is not so easy for a Swede to sing in Spanish. German must be easier for them. I can see Per and Marie rehearsing, trying to do their best about the pronunciation, looking at the lyrics a hundred of times, recording the same part many times in order to sound as better as possible. And the result was pretty decent in my opinion. Much much better than Shakira singing in English (arghhh!). I am really grateful for that, we all should be.

I know the Spanish lyrics are not as good as the original, English lyrics. But come on, some of them are not THAT BAD. “Un dia sin ti”, “Directamente a ti”, “Timida”, “Habla el corazón” and “Quisiera volar” are quite listenable. Others, indeed, are crappy (like CBB and “Quiero ser como tu”) but we all know it was not their fault. So, we shouldn’t blame them for the bad lyrics.

I’d prefer “Un dia sin ti” on the compilation. It was the first single and the most successful song off “Baladas”. They also shoot a video to promote it. I’d replace “Run to You” instead of “A Thing About You”. I know ATAY was not as successful but I’d like to keep as much latest material on the CD as possible (R2Y is a classic, but a bit old). “No se si es amor” was the 2nd single, but I think lyrics and performance are weak. Just compare it with the English version and you will realise the difference is HUGE!
