Roxette World Tour 2011 schedule

Australia will get some releases, no single

Written by ditroia on September 4, 2006 to .

ADELAIDE - It looks like the good news just keeps on coming. EMI Australia has confirmed releases of the album(s) and The RoxBox. Australia won’t get the new single, “One Wish,” though.

While the “deluxe” CD (including a DVD) and the box will be imported, the regular CD will be made in Australia. All releases are scheduled for mid-October, EMI Australia reports to TDR.

Release it!
:)

THE ONLY THING I WANTED WAS THE BLOODY SINGLE!!!!!! *sigh* Back to Ebay I go...

Well that is good news.

Better then what I was expecting, I wasn’t sure if we were going to get any releases in Australia.

I know a lot of fans are disappointed and I’m probably going to get flamed for saying this, but I can’t help myself........I’m going to buy the lot.

The single, both versions of the greatest hits and the Rox Box.

I was in JB HIFI at lunch time in the city (Adelaide) and was looking at all the box sets of all the other artists and finally Roxette will have a box set soon on the shelf.

Does anyone know how much the cost of these collections will be when released in Australia?

I will get the CD Single probably over Ebay.

How many Australian fans are on this site?

Im in Adelaide, South Australia.

Adelaide Represent!

Dave

I am in Central oast NSW - awesome news on the Rox Box - yay!!!! :D

Well as an eBay seller, I’ll get some extra UK copies to list on eBay! :)

Thanks for the news Dave.

It worries me a little that the the greatest hits and box will be released but not the single. While of course it was quite possible that the single would have been a flop, what other promotion can the greatest hits and box expect?

Still, I am very surprised and happy that Australia will get these other items.

mmm no single to promote the album ? how will the album do with without it then ?

Starrox:

I thought the same when I first read it but it means single CD (greatest hits) opposed to CD single (One Wish).

Excellent news, except for no single. Hopefully it makes it REALLY big in Europe and they do end up releasing it locally.

Quite surprised to hear that they will make the single CD here instead of importing the lot.

Lets just hope that the date doesn’t get pushed back as has happend in the past.

yep, the single is going to have to be huge elsewhere to get a release here. Maybe EMi Aus heard it and said no :P

Gee I wish EMI Australia would make up their %^&**(&$ minds. As I phoned EMI Australia today (4 Sept) and they told me that there is nothing on their data base about any new releases from Roxette and they highly doubt it will be released in Australia.

Yes another South Aussie here in Adelaide. When it comes to releases - I believe it when I see it, there is always conflicting info. I really would like the single to be released here. Looks like another import for the collection.

Another Aussie here this one from Sydney :)

Shock horror EMI giving conflicting stories re: a Roxette release. They don’t know what’s going on from one department to the next over there!!!

My feeling is that it will get a release date then be postponed then get a new release date then postponed again that will go on for a bit before they scrap the whole release all together ;)

I just can’t trust EMI to come up with the goods, so I will most likely order on line.

St Kilda, Melbourne here!

”...double-CD...”? what does it mean? i thought that GH will be only 1CD...

It comes with a DVD of all the videos ever made by Rox... Not One Wish of course

I trust my source, I don’t know what the person on the phone was going on about. I’ll try and find out why the single’s not being released.

Dave

i just think with no single that would be a promotion for the album, they is no point releasing album there ? its like when they released RS in UK with not lead single ? made no sence.

Even though they might not choose to release the single as a retail item... does that preclude them from releasing it in promo version only for radio airplay? EAR (Edel USA) only released “Wish I Could Fly” for radio when their version of “Don’t Bore Us...” was relesed in the U.S.

I‘m pretty sure that there will be radio-only releases of OW anywhere the compilations see a release without a single release.

In many small-market places it‘s quite common to release new singles only to the radio and TV stations, in Italy for example local artists release up to 5 singles from one album, with video and everything, but only the first (or maybe even the second) are released to the public.

Releasing a GH without a lead single is a bit different than releasing a studio album without a single. The way EMI UK handled the Room Service release was total madness...if you want to sell a new bunch of tracks, then of course you have to promote it with a single. However, there are already (up to) 18 singles that the public might know on this release, so a lead single is not vital, though it might still be desirable for awareness of the release.
It must be said though that when EMI territories release the compilation without the new single then it reinforces many people’s opinion of Roxette as a ’has been’ band, where it would have been great if people could here a NEW roxette song on radio, then people might realise that they didn’t actually split up some time between 1992 and 1999 (depending on where you live)

i think some radio stations would pick it up. They need to do something to get the album noticed even a little. single or radio only promo is good. End of day its in the hands of the record company.

yay for Australia,

agree with Rob S perhaps if the single is sucessful, it may still be released.

I’m from Adelaide. Looking forward to more new Roxette material.
Shame about the single not being avail. here.

Another Aussie here in the Hunter Valley of NSW.

Fingers crossed re Aussie release - Ill just have to control myself and wait and see what happens and hopefully the RoxBox wont be too expensive as I only want it for the DVDs and a handful of songs, but it will still be great to go instore and see NEW Roxette stuff on the shelves.

True - I went to JB hifi in Erina and Tuggerah and there is nothing Rox at all - so it will be exciting 2 finally see something!! :)

All the JB’s I know always have some Roxette CD’s :)

Well I hope David is right and they do release it in October. Would be nice for them to release the single to radio, I couldn’t imagine hearing a NEW roxette song on the radio though. It would be nice for the Australian public to know that Roxette are still around and that they didn’t split up 11-12 years ago!!!

Physical singles are not necessary to promote an album. Here in Argentina singles are not released at all (some are released, but very rarely). I’d say singles are dead here. But the songs get played in the radio, anyway.

Just a tip: only 3 Roxette CD singles were released here: Spending My Time, How Do You Do! and Wish I Could Fly.

There may be a promo single. Edel released 2 WICF promo;s to radio stations, [wicf & wicf remix], as well as an anyone promo.

In the Adelaide JB they have POP 97, LS/Joyride/Tourism Italian, they had Mazarin and I think they still have the change.

Cheers

Dave

Another Aussie here.. from Brissie :)
Yeah they may as well release the single here - the publicity certainly can’t hurt!
Anything they don’t release in Australia I’ll be getting over the net anyway, but they may as well just do it!

Dave M

I agree daiz18, it could only help the prom of the album.

Yeah for Aussie!

I don’t know the last time a Roxette single has been released Down Under. The last one I’ve seen (in New Zealand anyway) was “June Afternoon”. Never seen a single from 1997 and above up close before. :(

Yeah in Australia they did release The Centre Of The Heart & Milk And Toast And Honey. Not sure how much airplay they got, if any, but they were actually printed in Australia and I bought them here in Brisbane!
However, the other Room Service singles, plus others since, I’ve had to import.

Right now, I am also in Australia, Canberra. I will buy the single, Rox Box and GH when i am back in Europe. Because it would scale too much, I wouldn’t be able to take it with me on my flight back to europe... only 20kg... damn

There is always Itunes where you can buy the single, no?

yeah im from perth western australia

and for emi svenska ab/ capitol..... wheres our fucking 30 second snippit hej?

Perth here also.
As much as I hate to say it, if there’s no single release here, I highly doubt the big commercial radio stations are going to play it. At least Video Hits may show One Wish it like they did Opportunity Nox.

That’s the whole problem, radio won’t play unless there is demand for it, but there won’t be unless there is single released and people know about it to request etc.

We’re screwed both ways.

Well at least we’re getting something, it’s a shame things will never be the same again, popularity / chartwise here

how are they expecting to sell the greatest hits album if they don’t release a single from it?

yes another adelaide roxette fan here!

but i will buy the lot! i am spending so much on this stuff but i don’t care can’t get enough!

heres yet another aussie from Sydney I am happy we’re at least getting The boxset etc but It is a shame about the single, does this mean tho that it wont be sold as a single digital download too?

I’m thinking of sending this link to emi it might change their minds, [if each of us buy 10 copies ;)]

Cheers

Dave

I’ll buy 11 if it makes a difference :-p

Howdy everyone from Australia and around the world, I’m in Newcastle, NSW. I’ve been a roxette fan for a good portion of those 20 years and can say I’m DAMNED excited about the Rox-Box. Granted the Rox Box has to have the old favs but I wanted to see more of the unreleased stuff. Like ... the new and GH is for everyone but the rareties, that’s for the followers how have been faithful and supportive. I’m logging on anywhere and everywhere that I could possibly buy - Amazon, Ebay, JB... EVERYWHERE!!!
WOOOOHOOOO - go hard Roxette! We love you!!!

KM

HI Karen - I live near Gosford and Roxy Rinne lives in POrt Stephens - so there are lots of fans up this end of the state!!! :D

Cool cool cool!
I’m from SA too.
Gotta ashamedly admit that I have neglected this site for a while. I heard on radio about a new Rox single/album coming out - so curiosity led me to tap in...
And just for something to say: Being the fact that Roxette is now 20, I think we can expect a bomb of bands coming out, heavily influenced Roxette and other big groups of that era. If anyone from Adelaide in particular (or anywhere else in Oz) enjoys watching live bands, I recommend checking out Circus Arcade. They’re very reminiscent of a slightly darker Roxette.
Good to chat with you all again.
Speak soon.

Hey C.I.M on what radio station and when did you hear about roxette?

Dave

SAFM announced it a few weeks ago. They played a little of the Rox Medley...

WOW, what time, what was their thoughts?

Dave
