What do you think?Marie and Per will for One wish make any video ?I hope:)
japeke said on August 12, 2006 06:42:
Well, maybe you can wait until the release before having your opinion ready?
Santi said on August 12, 2006 08:27:
The video I like the most of Roxette has Jonas as a director (June Afternoon). I guess it just depends on how is the song, how boring he can interpret it... But Per said was uptempo, so why not a very nice vid? :p
Jonas Åkerlund’s Roxette up-tempo videos include:
- Fingertips’93
- June Afternoon
- She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore
- The Centre of The Heart
- Real Sugar
(Some of those are among Roxette’s best vids )
Jud (moderator) said on August 12, 2006 09:36:
Per already said there will be a video, and Jonas directing..
“At the moment we’re discussing possible video scenarios. Did someone say Jonas Åkerlund? Will keep you posted on this.”
Sascha said on August 12, 2006 10:43:
I think Jonas’ up-tempo videos for Rox are quite cool and not boring at all! Especially F93, SDLHA and COTH. I don’t like Real Sugar that much but that wasn’t directed by him personally afaik (Jesper Hero?).
It’s only the ballads that sometimes get too artistic and slow in pictures for the hectic MTV generation...
ncurran said on August 12, 2006 10:54:
I love Jonas’ video. Just surprised they went with him as they will probably have to shell out a lot of money!
Sascha said on August 12, 2006 11:03:
A good sign, isn’t it? But maybe he made a special price for his friends... ;-)
tomos85 said on August 13, 2006 14:50:
Real sugar IS NOT Jonas Akerlund video. It was directed by Jesper Hiro ;)
Santi said on August 13, 2006 15:12:
I read clearly in the “Roxette Ballad & Pop Hits: The Complete Video Collection” booklet the following:
28 Real Sugar 3:54
(Per Gessle/Jimmy Fun Music)
Room Service
Directed by Jesper Hiro
Creative Director JONAS ÅKERLUND
Produced by Martina Stöhr
2001
(EDIT: Capitalizing done by myself for the sake of clarity)

I like Åkerlund, so I hope it will be a great clip. When do you think it will be released?? Will it be played on MTV??
Hmmmm, I don’t think so, maybe on VH1 :)
etrejos said on August 14, 2006 16:15:
In my opinion, Jonas Åkerlund is a genius. I think he’s done terrific videos for Roxette.
What makes me angry is that his demo reels and all articles about him only mention his work for other artists (i.e. Madonna, Prodigy, Jamiroquai, Rolling Stones), as if Roxette wasn’t good or cool enough to mention >:(
If they only knew about all the videos, photos, art direction projects, etc. Jonas has done for Per & Marie!

ive always thought that most of Roxettes videos are a bit dull and uninteresting to be honest.there are some that i like.....The Look,IMHBL,Joyride,Real Sugar.....

I want to see a new video of Roxette (if is possible whit Marie and Per) that would be great!!! :D

At least its not Anton Corbijn- what the hell was Salvation meant to mean? I was just confused...
tavo said on August 14, 2006 19:21:
jonas is great. but i would like him to do with roxette something like madonna´s ray of light or music, which he directed.

@ “At least its not Anton Corbijn- what the hell was Salvation meant to mean? I was just confused... “
Oh, you must be kidding, you don’t like Salvation video :D:D:D ?! How can you? :):) Those fishes and watermelons look wonderful! And colours, aaaah, pure excitment :D
This same happens with Stars clip - Marie’s eye-brows and those fanastic children-ducks-choir ;D;D;D;D;D It took my breath away.
All in all, I really like what Anton has made with Per while SOAP photo- session. I’ve seen latest (or not) Depeche mode video made by him. Full of joy ;-) I hope he’ll do sthg with Roxette again ;D
whateveriam said on August 21, 2006 19:26:
I DO like Salvation, but it makes no sense-whats with the watermelons and stuff? It is quite pretty though. Its like Enjoy The Silence- why exactly was Dave in a king outfit, on a deckchair, wandering around Europe? We will never know...

Concerning Akerlund: “Boooooring” Coyboy and others? Maybe - if Rox wont allow him to do something wicked and naughty - they wanna be shown on Mtv/VH1 this time around to get some publicity, so they might go the safe route. However, the naughty Spun-esque video for Country Girl by Primal Scream, made it a “have to be seen” video and they climbed the singles chart in the UK. So here’s hoping.
Concerning Corbijn: His work can be described by a 3 letter word - “Art”. He doesnt do flashy, whistles and bells video’s. There is always a deeper meaning in his work. There is a concept. Unfortunately not too many people understand art. And therefore wont like his videos. PS: As an afterthought - “I gave you my body, the power over me. Come on, bring out the best in me.” Might be a push in the right direction if you dont understand that bit in the video at the market.
Cheers.

’His work can be described by a 3 letter word - “Art”’
True- pretty stunning to look at, sometimes shocking, often misunderstood. For what its worth, it is a beautifully shot video. Didn’t he say the videos come from the melody and not the words or something along those lines?
How about Michel Gondry to do the new Roxette video? (I’m thinking along the lines of ’Fell In Love With A Girl’, rather than ’Human Behaviour’). Just a thought

That’d be amazing, wouldn’t it? I think something like ’Sugar/Water’ or ’Protection’ would be awesome. One can only dream... *sigh*

WOW- I like this!
Maybe Akerlund will surprise me and do a stonking video-here’s hoping!
carbon_boy said on August 23, 2006 06:57:
I wouldn’t mind a vid down the road by Spike Jonez or Chris Cunningham either...
But Akerlund is still my alltime fave. Maybe its cos he knows how to shock in a naughty way, use humour and how to compose a scene/frame. He has great composition skills.
Cheers

Well, surely if this song is gonna be a hit, then the video should be starting to appear on music channels around the globe just around...........now, and the song should be starting to appear on the radio around the globe just around.............now. But hang on, we haven’t even heard a 10 sec snippet yet, let alone the whole song.
What’s going on Roxette?? It’s getting close to release date!!!
Sorry had to get that out of my system
abysmo said on August 23, 2006 08:24:
I would like if new video will be shooted somewhere outside, no in the interiors. The last one was Milk And Toast And Honey and this is great video. I´m little bit bored with studio clips.
