Which Rox release were you most excited about?
Sparvogamarie said on June 10, 2006 07:26:
I was thinking back to my high school days when I would take the day off school if there was a new Rox release LOL. I skipped school for Tourism and CBB, I was so excited about them and wanted to have them right away! As I got older I lost the excitement, when RS came out it was like 2 months before I even bothered to buy it. I was anxious when The Change came out since it was the first thing from MF since her illness, and went to Sthlm an hour before the shops opened just to get it!
I was just curious to hear from all of you, what was the album or single that you were most eager to get and couldn’t wait for?

Tourism — it was adveritised as being ’out now’ one Sunday morning so I raced into town to buy ( from a Brashes store for those who knew/remember it) only to discover it was being released the following day. I was so pissed off. CBB release was also very exciting and I remember leaving school at lunch to buy it the day it was released. Scary how long ago it was. So many lifetimes ago yet so familiar still.

Joyride - I remember being so excited waiting to hear this album because it was the first release I had to look forward to being a fan. I can remember on the radio they played snippets of some of the songs and I was like jumping out of my skin with excitment lol Then when I got it I came home and I can still remember listening to FLAF and being half way through it and starting it again shaking my head that it could be that good, I loved it! I don’t think I listened to anything else for a year lol
CBB - I think I was just as excited, I remember taking the day off school and my mum was going to buy it for me cause she worked near the record store and was finishing early only she came home with no CD saying they didn’t have it, I was devestated so I got the bus to another record store and got it with a free (very cheap) Rox t-shirt so that was cool!
I would say as the years went on I became less excited with each release, excited non the less but not as much as the early days I guess back then I was young and didn’t think about other things Roxette were my life ;)

God, Hotblooded you just reminded me that before CBB came out, there was a hotline where you could call and listen to CBB songs - it cost $5 a listen but I called several times. I remember listening to First Girl on the Moon LOL! I couldn’t WAIT for CBB, I kept calling the music store asking “Do you have it yet??” There was a delay and it didn’t arrive until the evening, I almost pulled my hair out LOL!

A hotline to hear the new album?? never heard of that before?
I remember getting Tourism for Christmas. I knew i was getting it and couldn’t wait for Christmas morning where i could finally play it. I think i played it all day. LOL
I remember being really exicted for DBUGTTC. My science teacher was a Rox fan, and he told me that they released a new album. That afternoon after school i went to town to see if i could get it.

Have a Nice Day.
All those years out of the public eye of anywhere except Europe and the internet, it was wonderful to see WICF on TOTP. :)
Hotblooded said on June 11, 2006 05:56:
Actually Sparvogamarie I remember those hotline things but I remember I would ring listen for 5sec and hang up cause I didn’t want to spoil the excitment of hearing it for the first time :)
Sparvogamarie said on June 11, 2006 08:37:
The hotline was from Dolly magazine, I imagine as a guy you were not reading it ;)
I didn’t care about spoiling the album, I just wanted to hear it right then and there!!!

I guess it was Wish I Could Fly / Have A Nice Day...
I though Roxette was over but then I had finally access to the internet (in October 1998) and went crazy because P&M were still around (roxette.nl - news)
The most exciting moment maybe was on Jan. 4th ’99 when Hitradio Ö3 played WICF... I was expecting something in a kind of TWATG-style and after I listened through the HAND album I didn’t know if i should be happy or disapointed because Sleeping In My Car has always been my favourite and the HAND songs didn’t have any SIMC feeling ...
Cheers.

Room Service, I spent the whole day of the release looking for it in shops around Tallinn (in Estonia) without any success...
So when I came back to Stockholm (was living in Stockholm then) I ran out of the ferry to the bus to get to the centre, and I got to one of the shops in Sergels Torg. I had even the CD player with myself :P So I opened it, while walking up Klarabergsgatan on my way to Central Station, pressed play and started listening to it while walking down the stairs... :D
Real Sugar... (“That’s MY Roxette”, I thought!! :D)

How funny Sparvogamarie that you should remind me!!! I think I remember that there was an interview with Per in a Dolly magazine once or one of those teen girl ones and I remember I had to go in and buy it and was like sooooooooo embarassed!!! I said “this is for my sister” and the man said “Yeah that’s what they all say.” It actually happened a few times, when Rox were ever in those mags ... even more embarassing was going to the newsagency after school and trying to look at those mags (for anything Rox of course lol!) without being noticed. The things we do!

Never had a rox album to look forward too... I became the month ’The Pop Hits’ was released here in Australia.
I guess ’Finn 5 Fel’ would be first on the excitement list.

Room Service. HAND was so ACE that I expected much of the same.... as usual Roxette had already taken a step forward by that time....
Max-Tob said on June 12, 2006 17:12:
C!B!B!, by far...
and I am quite thrilled about these two up-coming songs as well...well, nothing can compare with the teenage feeling when I was waiting for CBB, but I still wonder about how roxette will sound in 2006 and I am somehow unpatient. I hope they are doing a great job right now; or maybe they are just laying in the sun in God knows what corner of the world lol

Before the release of CBB I drew the people of the music store nuts, by asking each day whether the new Roxette CD was already there or not.

Probabaly Crash! I think. Or Have A Nice Day. My first thoughts of HAND though was dissapointment. Such a change. Like the album now though.

it was the re-release of pearls of passion in 1997. i was quite excited since i only had a crappy copy of the album (on tape) and this one included 8 bonus tracks. pearls of passion itself plus x-mas for the broken hearted and the demos. that was too much! the date of release was the same as my birthday, so it was the perfect birthday present i could have.
bunny2 said on June 13, 2006 20:12:
for me it was tourism. I was living in a little village where I couldn’t go to buy the album. So I had to ask my friend’s mum if she could go buying it for me since she was working in the bigger city. she got it for me and it was so exciting for me ! I will never forget the day.
Maybe that’s also why it’s my favourite album on ROXETTE ! ;-)
colinvdbel (moderator) said on June 13, 2006 21:15:
I was most excited when I was just a beginning roxfan (about 13 years), and I managed to get a bootleg copy of PoP, which I had been fantasizing about for a year or so until I finally found it. And it’s still my favourite rox album...
Jud (moderator) said on June 14, 2006 05:15:
If we are talking about release like waiting for the day that it’s in the stores, then I suppose it’s CBB because I was in my fanism peak to call it somehow :P nah, specially because I hadn’t listened to the full album before it was out (which I did with HAND and RS). That’s the contra of internet - I guess.
I remember they had a Roxette special on the radio the weekend before the album was out and there they played some of the songs and how excited I was when I finally had the album, ran home and played it for the first time :D This was not the case with HAND or RS because I had heard the albums before they were out :S
And now I’m looking forward to the new stuff!
Sparvogamarie said on June 14, 2006 07:55:
Hmm I’m not even looking forward to the new stuff, I must be losing my fan edge. I honestly don’t care. I’m kind of looking forward to MBV, but not to the point that I’d be upset if it’s delayed in the mail, whereas with The Change I had to have it right away and practically broke down the door to Megastore LOL! But that was a different thing, I wasn’t really that excited about the album but more for having Marie “back” after 2 years.
Claire said on June 14, 2006 08:28:
I think its just called growing up lol. By the time i was 18 i learnt there was a lot more to life than Roxette!
athingaboutyou said on June 19, 2006 19:25:
C!B!B! for sure. I randomly saw a casette single (Sleeping in my Car) at a local music store, bought it right away hoping that it was the Roxette I was obessed with. I live in the US and back then, the internet was not what is is today, so I never heard anything about my favorite band. My heart was pounding and when I heard Marie’s voice i knew it was them. I tried to find out all I could about a new album but there was nothing unil my sister came back from McDonalds and said that they were selling a Roxette cd there. I was like “You’re CRAZY!” I had my mom check and she grabbed one for me, it was the album smapler. I was in heaven! I also missed school when the full C!B!B! came out. :) Those were the days... I wish I could get excited about music now as I was back then.
roxtexanet said on June 20, 2006 01:05:
I still get extremely excited about Rox releases - even now I would skip work if a new album were going to be released and I hadn’t already heard it :-D The problem with the Internet is that you get to hear everything long before the release date, so there isn’t that same thrill when you do get the CD in your hands, I guess.
For me, the album I was most excited to hear was “Pearls of Passion”... I searched for more than two years for that one and didn’t get it until after “Joyride” came out!
gessle-addict said on June 20, 2006 02:18:
Crash!Boom!Bang!, definitely. I remember the album title had really caught me when it was announced in magazines. The day I went to the record store to get my copy there were piles of C!B!B! CD’s that had just been delivered. And in my opinion, it’s still the most mature work Roxette could have produced ever.
