Where Will They Be In 10 Years Time?
davidc4 said on May 26, 2006 12:12:
What does everyone think that Per and Marie will be doing in 10 years from now in 2016? I would like to think that people become very sentimental about them just like they did with ABBA and their greatest hits from the end of 2006 goes back in the charts and sells millions around the world..............
japeke said on May 26, 2006 16:00:
For them I hope they have retired in 2016, and do only things they like, and have fun with, maybe a little bit that has to do with charity or something...
Rox-Van said on May 26, 2006 17:40:
Per and Marie will be in the wedding of Gabbe and Jossi ... ;) jajaja.
harriej said on May 26, 2006 22:07:
No idea.
Knowing Per he will still be busy making music we all like.
Marie i am not sure about.
Santi said on May 26, 2006 23:25:
Around this time of year Per will be attending F1 GP of Monaco... depending on the dates... And rooting for Ferrari, like a good kid! :D
Sparvogamarie said on May 26, 2006 23:29:
I think Joyrider is right. I think Per will also have a new solo career after Son of A Plumber, next he’ll be known as Husband of an Angry Woman and next Aging Rockstar. Finally he’ll change his name to a symbol. Marie will move into a cave in a mountain somewhere and live out her days as a bitter recluse doing nothing but drinking beer and drawing pictures on the wall of her cave which will be discovered by archaeologists a million years later and they will think she was a caveman.

In 10 years time i want them both to be doing precisely what they want to do with their lives. They’ll be mid-late 50’s and should then be able to do whatever they want. They’ll deserve it!!!
joyrider said on May 27, 2006 12:04:
2 pwbbounce: In my opinion they already do what they want to do or do you feel someone puts pressure on them?
chrisjankunas said on May 27, 2006 12:40:
Oh my God how dare they have liberty? You make it sound like a crime ! In 10 years they should be enjoying life and their family - a 20 Year career is certainly enough even if 2003 was their last release together.
And its not them personally that release the Greatest hits - its EMI. I wonder if they would even have a real say over whether to release a GH. I have read where record companies release GH albums when the artist wasnt even involved.
pwbbounce (moderator) said on May 27, 2006 14:06:
Good point Chris. What about Elvis? So is Elvis releasing GH’s from beyond the grave. lol
We have different opinions Joyrider. I’m meaning that if Marie wants to draw and give up music, then so be it. Some fans have already given her “hassle” for doing her drawings/painting, but why? If Marie want’s to become a news reader, why should we moan? It’s nothing to do with us! If I wanted to become a weather man no one would give a crap. People have career changes all the time, it’s no big deal!
joyrider said on May 27, 2006 16:25:
Of course, a GH album is the decision of the record company to sell out their “cash cow songs”. My point is, that in my opinion nowadays Per and Marie don’t do anything with pressure from somebody and I can not imagine that making music, happens under big compulsion. I don’t think we’re different opinions. P&M can do whatever they like!! I am the last fan who demands on them for something. I’ve never been addicted to Roxette. I really like and enjoy their music (the studio sound as well as live) and I liked Marie’s hairdo in the Dangerous video :) but that’s it ... not clingy at all. Cheers.
Sparvogamarie said on May 28, 2006 00:19:
Nothing wrong with doing drawings, I did them in kindergarten all the time. In fact I’m going to send Marie a nice colouring book that she can colour in and if she stays in the lines, I’ll send her a sticker.
Sparvogamarie said on May 29, 2006 07:08:
Chris: Seriously dude, you have to stop taking yourself so serious. THEY ARE A POP GROUP. If you are so devoted to a band that you need to get upset, maybe you need to do something else.
chrisjankunas said on May 29, 2006 09:18:
I wasn’t upset. I was merely pointing out how ridiculous your statement was ! It sounds like you were trying to be clever but I’m afraid you have failed somwhat.

@christjankunas
Ooooh c’mon. Calm down. Where is the problem? I think that was a funny comment from sparvögamarie. And that’s what it was supposed to be. Nothing more. Don’t stress yourself!!!
davidc4 said on June 1, 2006 09:34:
i thought it was funny lol. i too hope that they do what they like althoughit would be good to have people appreciate them in the same way that ABBA are.though it probably wont ever happen.

I still remember when Per answered that question in a roxette review (when it was UK based) in the 90’s!
Sparvogamarie said on June 2, 2006 06:56:
Chris: take a look at your comments. “How dare they have liberty” which originally had 1000 question marks but you edited them. You make yourself look like hysterical, plus the fact that each comment is edited 3 times makes it look like you initially wrote something even more hysterical then thought better of it. Then you jump up and down because I joked about Marie’s drawings. I mean, fair enough if I was making brain tumour jokes, you would be right to get angry. But drawings?
The even more crazy part is that nobody even said anything about them not having “liberty”...looking through the responses before you said that, your comment doesn’t even make sense. Let’s take a look at them: David said he’d like to see a revival, Joyrider joked they’d release a few more GH, Japeke said he hopes they retire, Rox-van joked about their kids marrying, Harriej said Per will be making music, Santi said Per will go to the F1, I continued the joke about the endless GH albums, and pwbbounce said he wants them to do what they want with their lives.....then you come in with your “HOW DARE THEY HAVE LIBERTY??? YOU MAKE IT SOUND LIKE A CRIME!!!!!” I don’t get it...who made it sound like a crime?? Nobody said “In 10 years Roxette had better be making albums or I’ll kill them!” Most of the comments seemed to be along the lines of “Whatever they want to do is fine”, especially pwb who actually SAID that. Then you call ME pathetic because I refuse to take it seriously? Hmm, a those are pretty big stones you’re throwing out of your glass house there matey...
Ah, I do love a good rant. Time to sit in my garden and draw some lovely pictures and relax.

i say it too i dont care what per or marie do as long as they do whatever they want.Roxette could go on and on if they want it to but to be perfectly honest i would hate to listen to a new album if i thought they had felt pressured into doing it.
Sparvogamarie said on June 2, 2006 13:20:
To be perfectly honest, I’m kind of over Roxette anyway and had been for a long time even before Marie’s illness. I think what they’re doing now is kinda cool, both of them make exactly the music they want, which to me is what being an artist is all about anyway. I didn’t personally like SOAP all that much but I think it’s great that Per made an album of stuff that he really wanted to do. And Marie gets to cover songs that mean something to her. I think that’s much better than trying to throw together some tired old Roxette album that sounds completely forced, like their last few efforts.
davidc4 said on June 2, 2006 13:24:
i dont think room service or have a nice day sound forced just different styles.i reckon they enjoyed making them as hey are both “happy” sounding albums.but yeah i agree that its good what they are doing at the moment.i will enjoy their new songs as in the news section Per says that Marie asked him about recording new songs which means that she must be keen on the idea.
and if it turns out to be the last thing they do we’ve still got 7 original albums to choose from.
They should listen to their hearts instead of spending their time crash boom banging about in an almost unreal fashion trying to make another joyride of an album coz that would be as dangerous as sleeping in their car where the first girl on the moon is watching over them from the stars above with her neverending love that runs soul deep.
Sparvogamarie said on June 2, 2006 13:33:
Hmm I don’t know, I guess time will tell. I just get the feeling Marie had had enough of Roxette but didn’t want to let Per down. Her illness finally gave her the excuse to leave, but she wanted to help him out for the anniversary. Like I said, time will tell, if Roxette does mean something to her she may go back once her illness is well and truly behind her but I just have a feeling she’ll stick to solo stuff from now on. She’s always said Roxette will seem silly once she’s over 50, and Per once said the same thing.

I agree 100%
I think neither Have a nice day nor Room service were as good as any of their previous albums including Don’t bore us which had some excellent previously unreleased tracks. I even like Twatg or Soap better than those 2 last Rox albums..
Sparvogamarie said on June 2, 2006 23:17:
I actually don’t mind HAND or RS, I’m not one of those who hates them. But they just seemed so forced....HAND seemed like a desperate attempt to fit into the mainstream dance movement (“We’re doing techno cos it worked for Cher, nanana”) and Room Service, while containing some great songs, was a bit uninspired and a desperate attempt to gain back the lost fans by going “old school” Roxette. I think the best music comes from making what’s in your heart, which Per and Marie have both done with The Change, SOAP and MBV even if not all the fans like them.

Oh so this was revived eh? Not that Im really bothered now but ...
Sparvogamarie - sorry if you feel I bit your head off. But the reason for all the edits on my “how dare they have liberty” post was that it was only edited once - with a refreashing error adding the extra 2 edits - unless you think I typed liked crazy, editing 3 times within one minute as it is quite obvious that I didnt. The original edit was a typo - I think you need to cast your memory back further and you will see no ’hysterical’ question marks as they were NOT there ! :D
The how dare they have liberty comment was directed at joyrider for saying they please themselves - liberty afterall means freedom to do what one wants And that was not an angry post anyhow - it was not in caps afterall :D
Sparvogamarie said on June 4, 2006 07:30:
Apology accepted, I initially didn’t even care about the ’how dare they have liberty’ until you called me pathetic, then I went back and thought that was a bit rich coming from someone who overreacted so much to Joyrider (esp since I didn’t read his comment the same way you did, to me he was just saying they already do what they want, which they do). I’m not sure that saying Marie needs some colouring books really warrants flames, what’s it to you anyway?
ally77 said on June 4, 2006 12:18:
@ Sparvogamarie, agree with you on most of what you wrote there....
@ Vix... I love that album title, I’d copyright that if I was you!
joyrider said on May 26, 2006 13:17:
I guess, in 2016 they’ll realease their 11th or 12th greatest hits album.
