Roxette and Abba

Do you think you can hear “the ghost” of Abba in the background when you hear some Roxette? Esp. HAND and RS.

ummm NO LOL, i hear more abba music in madonnas stuff LOL

LOL so do I. Especially that “Hung Up” song. Haven’t a clue why. LOL !

There is only one song where I could say Roxette reminds me of Abba and thats the demo of “Come back before you leave”. Did anyone else realize that this song sounds quite like “Lay all your love on me” from Abba. Okay okay, not the whole song but the verses. Just check it out.

see chris your english you get my humour ;-)

I’m a huuuuuge fan of ABBA, but apart from the two groups being Swedish, I can’t find any similarities; least of all in the music.

Like Björn and Benny, Per writes very melodic songs - We all know that :) But I’ve never really heard traces of ABBA in Roxette’s music.

Incidentally, I believe Per once said that the song he’d most liked to have written was ABBA’s 1975 hit ’S.O.S.’ :)

Well, there’s always the “benny piano” in SDLHA.

Can’t say I have but then again I am tone deaf...

I thought the piano bit in 7Twenty7 reminded me of ABBA. You know the part where Marie sings?

I agree with Mr.Floppy. “Come back before you leave” -speacially in some parts of the song that aren´ts chorus- sounds very close to Abba. It´s very easy to recognise it.

@ Zargo
What’s this about Benny’s piano..?

:)

No, not realy. I can’t say it.

Urm no! Well apart of Per & Marie’s solo projects with members of Abba....!

@ChrisWilliams - Per said at some stage that he was playing the “benny piano” in SDLHA, or something to that effect.

This probably doesn’t mean he was playing Benny’s actual instrument (though it’s possible), but rather that it sounds like one of Benny’s many piano contributions to ABBA songs... it’s just a little “plunk-plunk” at the end of the chorus, if you want to listen.

That was about the 7twenty7 bridge, not SDLHA: “With the couds passing by... *Benny-piano* with the clouds passing by, it’s alright...”

Well, that’s what’s my memory tells me... some one else might be able to confirm either of our theories... possibly the “benny piano” popped up more than once :)

What about “Looking for Jane”? Think about it...
