harrassed said on April 26, 2006 15:50:
ok im a sceptic i keep getting harrassed by my best mate who is a nutty Roxette fan.but apart from the obvious songs It Must Have Been Love or Listen To Your Heart i cant say ive liked much else but i havent really given some songs a chance to be honest.my mate keeps putting Roxette albums in my car in the hope that he can convert me.if i was to listen to an album which should it be?what do people think i would enjoy the most?i like guitary music more though dancey stuff is good too.
davidc4 said on April 26, 2006 16:03:
in order you should try
Tourism
joyride
have a nice day
crash boom bang(lots of guitars)
room service
look sharp
pearls of passion
even try pop and ballad hits
FirstGirlOnTheMoon said on April 26, 2006 16:03:
I’d recommend Joyride. Especially since you like “guitary music”.
FirstGirlOnTheMoon said on April 26, 2006 16:10:
Come to think of it, you can just buy one of the MANY compilation albums. That should give you a good idea. ;)
davidc4 said on April 26, 2006 16:14:
just put room service on for first time in a while real sugar a bit cheesy like centre of the heart and jefferson was good and lively milk and toast.still love it
harrassed said on April 26, 2006 16:19:
ok will try tourism and joyride.i think i remember liking a song called fingertips off tourism but how do you do was just awful.im sorry but no!
davidc4 said on April 26, 2006 16:30:
dont worry harrassed per and marie never liked it that much either.
davidc4 said on April 26, 2006 16:44:
alot of people do even myself but even per and marie say its not their finest moment in the booklet for the dont bore us album

If it’s guitar you want, then Crash!Boom!Bang! is what you need.
Zargo said on April 27, 2006 01:23:
The World According to Gessle, if you can get your hands on it...
Not actually a Roxette album, but a solo release from the male half of Roxette.
“Guitary” and more up-tempo than Crash! Boom! Bang!
purplemedusa said on April 27, 2006 07:42:
Was gonna suggest TWATG too... and how about the SOAP release?
RobS said on April 27, 2006 08:32:
If you like guitars, go for CrashBoomBang. Otherwise probably HAND as it has a great mix of styles, Joyride, or one of the Hits compilations.
And TWATG is a great album too.
purplemedusa said on April 27, 2006 08:52:
Yeah it all depends what you like... Roxette & related material cross many genre lines - from punk & garage rock through influences of reggae with cheesy pop moments to jazzy moments, country pastiche and Celine-esque power ballads! Take your pick!
davidc4 said on April 27, 2006 13:48:
wouldnt it be a bit hard for a none roxette fan to get their hands on a copy of the world accroding to gessle or even son of a plumber?as neither had a commercial release in the U.K.
purplemedusa said on April 27, 2006 14:09:
UK never got TWATG? Strange coz there was singles released there!!
davidc4 said on April 27, 2006 14:11:
kix was supposed to be released but was cancelled thogh promo discs were made for the uk radio stations
harrassed said on April 27, 2006 14:21:
hi i listened to some Roxette and its not too bad i suppose ;) Tourism was ok i hate how do you do but keep me waiting, the rain, cinnamon street and the live version of the look and it must have been love were quality.joyride is fair as well a good pop album with almost everything cheese with joyride, power ballad with fading like a flower, dancey stuff with the big l and chilled ballads like never be the same.didnt like watercolours in the rain it bored me.crash boom bang was by far the best.full of loud guitars loved harleys and lies also fireworks was comical.run to you was the standout track though.
Tourism 3.5/5
joyride 5/5
crash boom bang 5/5

If only more people in the UK (and worldwide) would be like you and give them a chance!!!!
Glad you enjoyed!
carlosconnelli said on April 27, 2006 15:39:
kix was released in the uk, i remember buying like 8 copies of it to give to friends!
davidc4 said on April 27, 2006 15:42:
its down in The Look For Roxette as being U.K produced but any info i find say it was cancelled. And The World According To Gessle was definately cancelled as no U.K catalogue number exists for it.
carlosconnelli said on April 27, 2006 15:58:
well i bought twatg on release day at hmv in chester and cd1 and cd2 of kix, and they reordered it because i bought it for others. i think i saw twatg in some other uk stores too, tho not for a long time
davidc4 said on April 27, 2006 16:04:
unless it was an import that HMV are known to do quite often.it is down as cancelled by EMI i think it was to do with lack of interest
carlosconnelli said on April 28, 2006 15:43:
well we will agree to disagree, i know that it wasnt an import tho
marcusvandeursen said on May 1, 2006 17:24:
Kix was actually released as a 2CD set in the UK, and widely available. Imported a dozen of them to Holland even.
Indeed, there was an intended UK single release that was cancelled; this was not ’Kix’ though but ’[You make Me Feel So] Stupid’

after listening to all the roxette albums my mate has this is what i came up with
1.Pearls Of Passion (2.5/5) too experimental only Soul Deep and Neverending Love stood out and of course IMHBL(CFTBH)
2.Look Sharp!(3/5)better than Pearls.sounds a bit dated apart from The Look and Listen To Your Heart
3.Joyride (5/5) a very good album
4.Tourism(3.5/5) a great album experimental but in a good way.
5.Crash!Boom!Bang!(5/5) my favourite of the lot, excellent.
6.Have A Nice Day(3/5) some bits work some bits dont but overall its a cool album.
7.Room Service(4/5) i didntlike Real Sugar at first but after one or two extra listens it grew on me alot
of the Greatest Hits albums Dont Bore Us is great(5/5) but its a pity The Ballad Hits + The Pop Hits werent a whole album.

Harrassed: Roxette isn’t for everyone. Lately, my tastes have leaned towards Rob Zombie, Disturbed’s 10,000 Fists, and anything else that can be considered “angry” music.
carlosconnelli said on May 10, 2006 08:45:
i wouldnt really call rob zombie and disturbed angry, just sort of rocky.
angry music is stuff like slayer and terror
davidc4 said on April 26, 2006 15:59:
try Tourism very chilled out or even Have A Nice Day as it has guitars and some beats
