ROOM SERVICE Tour

Why some people say it was a weak tour? What was wrong? I missed it myself.
Thanks.

I thought fading like a flower sounded perfect on the opportunity Nox single. From what I’ve heard of the clips - COY and YDUM were great and could do with being released ! How do you do and anyone also !

No I’ve GOT to disagree - It was a truly amazing show with such awesome versions of COY, Real Suger, IMHBL, Stars & CBB/Anyone! Oh and visually it was WAY more exciting than previous concerts - I guess someone musta smoked some funky shit as I can’t understand the above comment!

rs was a great show, i think the best of all! but i believe it was way shorter than the cbb or jtj tours. wasn’t there a “real” break during a cbb-concert where you could leave your seat and buy stuff? i hardly remember, i was quite young... .

What I’ve heard of the show it was brilliant. Crush On You is amazing live. Just wish I had the chance to go and see them on the tour.

Don’t know who says it was bad??

Pardek: No, there wasn’t a dinner break. ;-) Maybe the RS show was 15 minutes shorter than CBB, don’t know. I don’t think the show was weaker although sometimes they seemed to rush through the songs without much contact to the audience. Only sometimes.

It’s natural that the first tour has a bigger impact on you than the second or third one. From an objective standpoint they certainly got better over the years.

i flew out to stockholm for the weekend just to see the RS tour - i thought it was fantastic ! i nearly passed out when they opened with the first song just cos i was so excited! the word weak isnt in my dictionary

You can’t compare the RS Tour with all the excitement in the Joyride tour, or the powerfull Marie’s voice in the CBB Tour. The RS preformances sound too weak, call it “lack or passion” or something. But that show sounds totally plain and lame for me. Sorry, but Marie can’t reach the high notes she used in 1992 or 1994 tours. That’s a fact.

In my oppinion, their best tour ever was CBB (1994/95)

AHA! We found the culprit!! Bend over for a spanking!! LOL!

I was also in Stockholm for it, no complaints from me....

Joyride tour always gets thumbs up for me... :)

No question for me... every tour was better than the one before it simply because the choice of material got better and better with every new album. I thought the set-list for the “Room Service” tour struck the perfect balance between giving what the casual fan expects and what the diehard fan wants (“Crush On You” !! “Queen of Rain”!!!). There certainly wasn’t any filler on that one (although I could honestly do without hearing “The Big L.” in another concert... (-: ).

I found the RS tour weak, because of three reasons. Firstly, there was something wrong with the sound, the recordings don’t sound solid or something. Maybe the mixing is wrong, or none of the recordings I heard were mixed properly. Only Brussels sounds good. Secondly, it hurts me to say that, but Marie is not what she used to be. She did so much in the past, her voice simply wore off. Now this doesn’t let her enjoy herself and improvise, and along with a lousy mixed instrumental background from the band who are also not as “on fire” as they used to be, it ruins the performance often. Thirdly, the previous tours always had some album tracks, which were sort of a break between hits. On RS they gathered ALL the hits, so you simply get tired (when you are on the show). I remember that I really liked The Big L., which sounded as new, and by the way, Marie can reach the high notes perfectly well, I remember Hotblooded when in the end she went “So-u-u-u-u-...” for a very long time and made it jokingly, I loved it. But overall the RS tour is too weak to enjoy its recording, that’s my opinion.

Mbroxer, there isn’t an official recording released from the RS tour – except FLAF Brussels. All recordings you heard were from the audience – low-fi and unmixed. Did you actually go to a concert?

Sasha, I can tell a difference between an audience recording and a soundboard recording. Stuttgart, Brussels, Stockholm are soundboard recordings, for instance. As I said, maybe they were not mixed properly, but actually I heard audience recordings from CBB & LS tours and enjoyed them, although the quality was terrible. And yes, I did go to the concert, and just shared my experience in the previous post. I didn’t go to the previous tour, unfortunately, but I saw it on TV.

I went to quite a few RS concerts and enjoyed every single one. I totally disagree that Marie was not what she used to be, she was full of energy and she had great interaction with the audience. I missed Joyride but I saw CBB and Marie had every bit of the stage presence that she had before. Her voice was great and sure, some nights it wasn’t perfect but I think that happens on every tour, you can’t be 100% every night. Anyway, I think the performance counts more than the vocals, if you want perfect vocals listen to the CD.

The stage design was interesting with the big screen that showed all kinds of clips during songs, and they had the really unique set up with the lightbulbs and Marie and Per having their own part of the stage. They probably could have mixed up the songs a bit more than they did but I guess they wanted to showcase their familiar songs.

It was a great tour. Some people just want to complain...

no offense broxer but neither of the shows you talk about are soundboard recordings..I too know the difference. As with any tour some shows don’t soar as others do, fine example is the cbb tour. RS tour had something for every and honestly was a hell of alot better than cbb wihich was liek an arena tour without the crowds :)(
