Stratocaster donated by Per to benefit anti-minefield program

Written by tevensso on November 21, 2005 to .

STOCKHOLM - Win a Fender Stratocaster signed by Per Gessle! Yes, it can be yours if you enter this auction to benefit a program called Adopt-A-Minefield. Per has signed and donated the bone-white guitar that is being auctioned on the Internet.

Adopt-A-Minefield is a campaign of the United Nations Association of the USA, which engages individuals, community groups, and businesses in the United Nations effort to resolve the global landmine crisis. The Campaign helps save lives by raising funds for mine clearance and survivor assistance and by raising awareness about the landmine problem.

The site describes the item like this:

“This Fender Stratocaster was signed by Per Hakan Gessle the songwriter and male lead singer of the Swedish bands Gyllene Tider and Roxette.

As of 2004, he has released four solo albums:

  • Self-titled Per Gessle in 1983,
  • Scener in 1986,
  • The World According To Gessle in 1997, and
  • Mazarin in late 2003.

The album ’Mazarin’ is 5 times platinum as of February 2004 in Sweden. Only ’The World According To Gessle’ is in English, the others are in Swedish. ’Per Gessle’ and ’Scener’ were re-released together with a demo album in 1992 as ’På Väg.’ In 1997 ’Hjärtats Trakt’ was released, a best-of album.

Per Gessle is releasing a new English album on November 23rd 2005 in Sweden called ’Son Of A Plumber’ (yes his father was a plumber!) On the album are some great musicans such as Clarence Öfwerman, Christoffer Lundquist, Helena Josefsson and Jens Jansson partake. The album contains all of Gessle musical heritage. Per expects to release the album outside of Sweden in early 2007.”

Cool guitar!! Who will be the lucky one?

@tevensso: “Per expects to release the album outside of Sweden in early 2007” . Is that date accurate? It’s about a year delay for an international release. I’m very confused... Any help clearing that up ?

Take care!
Carlos E., New York.

LOL He prolly only signed the thing. Since it’s a brand new one ( look at the logo )

I’m guessing they mean 2006... :)

@Tevensso: Thanks a lot. I think that gotta be a mistake. Otherwise, it’s a disaster. lol

Carlos E., New York.

2007 would probably be more accurate

@Vixzter: It doesn’t make much sense to me. The US Roxette release would come out first some time in the spring of 06.

Anyway, one year delay is too long.

it was a joke, i just forgot the ;-) after it

@Vixzter: Alright. Well, now i know you are still sane. :-)

Take care!

It’s funny, when has he played one of those guitars?
At least, he’s not known by playing them. He plays Gibsons, Rickenbackers or Gretsch... but Fender...

Oh well, wait, they’re lot cheaper! :P

Well it’s at least an american one and not some Korean crap.

@Santi: That’s true. The only thing is that he plays Fender in Neverending love and during some gigs in the POP-era. After that he could afford Gibson, Gretsch etc.

I do not believe that Per played that guitar....anyway, nice that he signed it :-)

Pretty guitar ... but it is not mine :(

i wonder why a fender was chosen....really not per’s style of guitar. i think only hendrix could get away with a fender. er....i totally would have donated a rickenbacker!! ooo...mama likes!! heehee! rickey’s, epi’s gretsch, and gibson’s for me!!!!

cheers,
tammie

It’s still a nice idea.

jasså dom ska få massor av saker o pengar å sånt.. medan ja sår här och FRYSER ARSLETT mej :’(
hallå?
vf får ja inte pänger!?
