dancing DJs Vs Roxette
purplemedusa said on April 12, 2005 16:03:
Seeing that there’s such massive excitement about THIS track (and the recent success of LTYH) it wouldnt be such a bad idea to dust off those Crush on You remixes & get the clubs flooded with Roxette!!! (Hint-hint, Per/Marie D.)
AURYTE said on April 12, 2005 14:40:
It’s a good sign that finally someone mentioned that it was the remix of Roxette!!!
purplemedusa said on April 12, 2005 15:21:
Urm... i’m super curious... an official remix with Marie’s vocals?
onlywhenidream said on April 12, 2005 15:24:
yep, I think so - not heard it proper - only on a advert on TV as a part of the advert for the compilation album...but who knows...
purplemedusa said on April 12, 2005 15:46:
Ok... just did an extensive search...
Last year there was Mysterio who did a cover of FLAF... There’s another one (recently?) by an arist called Eric Prydz and then there’s “dancing DJs Vs Roxette”... apperently due for release on May 2nd ... not sure if it’s the release date for the single tho... sounds like they used MF’s original vocals meaning we’ll atleast see 1 Roxette related release this year!!!!
*doing some more searching*
onlywhenidream said on April 12, 2005 15:49:
yep already put in a call about the release... fingers crossed

Yip the single will be released on May 2nd according to http://www.radiohorton.co.uk/New%20Singles.htm (not sure what formats though!) and is featured on the new “FRESH FUNKY HOUSE ANTHEMS” CD (UK only)...

Ive always believed that THE comeback of Roxette would come in either re-releasing IMHBL, or that someone would do a cover/remix of a Roxette track. This remix of FLAF is the best roxette remix yo date. Fingers crossed!! Lets hope for a new #1!!
m-cvk said on April 12, 2005 21:17:
A snippet of 40 secs can be heard on
http://www.djdbwebsite.co.uk/
You’ll find it under ’chart’ :-)
carbon_boy said on April 13, 2005 08:04:
That snippet sounds awfully familiar - sounds like a mix I downloaded last year. Was very cool - but too repetitive. Will be nice to hear ROXETTE on the dancefloor again tho.
Cheers
Rich-UK said on April 13, 2005 08:15:
Does anyone know whether this song is likely to chart in the UK? How incredible would it be if Roxette were to have another top 10 hit :-O
All the best, Rich ;-)
Edit: maybe we should think about how we could campaign for the success of this song – could it be the start of something special?!
m-cvk said on April 13, 2005 08:21:
The song is more ’Marie singing Mickey Mouse-style’, it’s speeded up.
carbon_boy said on April 13, 2005 08:44:
Yep - just as I thought - same song Ive had for quite some time. Anyways...
It seems that Roxette is surely the flavour of the moment!
Eric Prydz, Mysterio, Dancing DJ’s and also Friday Night Posse are the reason why Roxette songs are spinning on the decks at clubs around the world.
Just found this bit of info on Friday Night Posse’s website (they have also mixed It Must Have Been Love last year, with an artist called Soraya)::
Re-working Roxette... - 15-02-05
Fading like a flower, someone has done a few whites of this but we are taking it to the next level... ;)
Roxette.. - 20-02-05
Harry has compleated the Hardino radio edit of “Fading like a flower..
Starting the DD remix of Roxette - 20-02-05
Tomorrow :)
Seems like we’re gonna get to hear quite a bit of FLAF for some time to come.
Cheers ;o)
ncurran said on April 13, 2005 09:23:
I cant say i’m a big fan of the remix, though i’ll support anything that could see Roxette back in the charts. I’m not really sure that this song would do very good commercially though, despite the hype. However I can imagine it being played in gay clubs up and down the country
purplemedusa said on April 13, 2005 10:31:
It sounds more like “Dancing Dj’s vs. Smurfs” doing FLAF - but i guess it sounds perfectly normal to the clubber on pills!
Winterangel said on April 13, 2005 12:26:
YUCK, that’s awful.
O.K. - yes to comeback, but definitely not this way!!!
:op~~~
onlywhenidream said on April 13, 2005 12:38:
agreed - it could open the door back up for Roxette in the UK and then Europe...then...providing MF is all good, it could rock and roll for one last album? *anyway, nuff dreamin’*
Winterangel said on April 13, 2005 12:39:
Do you think they would ever take advantage of things like this crap to come back? Rather never than come back as a clown.
onlywhenidream said on April 13, 2005 12:49:
think you are missing a trick Winterangel...Roxette are not releasing the single...but they will benefit from lots of people who buy music at the moment who have never heard of Roxette, being introduced to the original band who made the song.
Winterangel said on April 13, 2005 12:55:
I DO know, that it’s not them releasing the single. I said they’d never take advantage of it. And to be honest: I don’t think, that those people who’ll go and buy this techno/dance single would listen to Roxette’s type of music. *sigh*
purplemedusa said on April 13, 2005 12:56:
OAM... ofcourse it’s a Roxette single... Marie IS doing the vocals!!
Winterangel said on April 13, 2005 13:31:
I thought you meant it as a joke.
So - as far as I understood, this cover version of FLAF is going to be released (or was released) by Dancing DJs (???), not by Roxette. They took the song, messed it up and now people think that it will help Roxette with their comeback. Ha-ha-ha.
But I love you anyways :o)
onlywhenidream said on April 13, 2005 13:42:
winter... I know what you’re saying, but I think it is more about convincing the people in the music industry that Roxette could have another chance of making it in the UK, rather than just the ’public’ at large. After all the music-buying public WILL by any old rubbish given the right incentives and the persuasive environment to do it - I should know I have been promoting stuff here in the UK for several years, some of it high profile, with the likes of Five, Christina Milian and Daniel Bedingfield through to stuff that aint been so popular.
Roxette would not put their name to the Dancing DJs single - I’m sure of that, but if it means that people then start wanting to find out more about Roxette and other songs...why wouldn’t Roxette ride on the back of it? Would yuo prefer not to have new Roxette material in order to make a case in point because of a dance single...the words: cut, nose and face spring heavily to mind! *sigh*
ally77 said on April 13, 2005 13:43:
I am not usually a fan of this kind of music, but I do like this! :) It’s rather novel and I would love to see it in the top 40 charts (top 10 even better)! So guess I shall be buying it! :)
onlywhenidream said on April 13, 2005 13:54:
LOL...mind you I agree with you Winter...not sure whether I like it or not yet
purplemedusa said on April 13, 2005 14:07:
Winter & OAM... i don’t know what u two was on about... lil moi’s blond ya’know!! But this is NOT a cover version - the last i checked a cover version meant that wasn’t sang by the original artist!
*but big thumbs up to confusion*
purplemedusa said on April 13, 2005 15:11:
Another (much better!!!) sample [ http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF172583-01-02-15.mp3 ] .... I’m starting to fall inlove with FLAF all over!!!!!!!!
ally77 said on April 13, 2005 18:19:
Nice find there Purple! I cannot wait for this to hit the airwaves! :)
ally77 said on April 13, 2005 18:25:
Was wondering is there no official news on this release, surely Per / Marie / EMI have given permission for it’s use, it would be nice to turn into a new article for the front page! :)
onlywhenidream said on April 13, 2005 19:02:
@Ally - as soon as I found out I submitted an article thing - but guess cos it’s not official...humph
purplemedusa said on April 13, 2005 19:44:
OWID... so did i... I’m sure there’ll b a story about it... and yes it MUST be official; I mean for them to put out promo’s already there MUST be some agreement with EMI/Capital!! But then again it’s the same record company as Groove Coverage so I wouldn’t be suprise if they tried sneaking this one through too!! LOL
Rich-UK said on April 13, 2005 19:50:
I like it too – imagine hearing Marie’s beautiful voice in the top 10 again......
Edit: Or at least a squeaky version of Marie’s beautiful voice :-)
ally77 said on April 13, 2005 20:49:
It would be nice... **betting this is front page news tomorrow**
purplemedusa said on April 13, 2005 20:52:
*looks in the crystal ball* Ally’s correct... there’ll also be an exclusive interview with Marie about Roxette’s new album, Resume Next!
GT_85 said on April 13, 2005 22:42:
http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22707 some techno(??) fans feelings about the song.
ncurran said on April 13, 2005 23:01:
Thanks GT_85. Can you believe what someone has written about our lovely Maries voice? Still they probably dont realise that its been speeded up to smurf like speed
“mmm bit disappointing actually, seems to be another lacklustre effort by Eric which was produced as a demo and then he got lazy and just kept it like it was. I don’t really like the vocal performace either, rather weak and simply not as catchy as the tunes being churned out by the likes of Sunset Strippers and Uniting Nations”
AURYTE said on April 14, 2005 04:38:
But does Eric Prydz remix feature Marie’s vocals? *got confused about all these remixes*
carbon_boy said on April 14, 2005 07:32:
Miss M - It’s not really Marie sounding like Micky/Mini Mouse - they did speed it up, but you can still clearly hear its Marie, and you actually dont really notice that she’s singing faster until you think about the fact that it use to be a ballad...
And to add my 2cents worth about the fact that Roxette probably wouldn’t want their name on the cd sleeve, etc: well, it’ll probably read - Dancing DJ’s vs Roxette. Why? Cos thats how its done. They sampled a whole Rox song, so therefor both artists are credited like that. And Rox/Management gave the a-ok for this to happen if it’s to be released. So they must like it - or at least think its gonna make them some money.
Btw, does anyone have the Eric Prydz or 2-4 Grooves version?
Cheers ;o)
imazombieinthem... said on April 14, 2005 08:46:
this is a sweet remix. Where can we get the whole download!?
onlywhenidream said on April 14, 2005 12:45:
aparantly the CD Promo that has been sent out to DJs etc includes:
CDR Promo
1. Dancing DJs Mix
2. Alex K Bounce Mix
3. Hardino Mix
4. Discode Mix
5. Alex K Extended Mix
6. Hardino Radio Edit
Strest said on April 14, 2005 16:17:
Let me get this straight, every mix on that promo CD includes Marie, right?
Staffany said on April 14, 2005 20:31:
The remix is HORRIBLE and it SUCKS! I can’t believe someone likes this... “Listen To Your Heart” by that Belgian group is equally shitty. I can’t stand any of them.
The original versions are the BEST, without any doubt!
carbon_boy said on April 15, 2005 07:03:
Eugh.... Too many ppl who aren’t into dance music are making comments about how bad the remixes are. The message board mentioned above are visited by clubbers, and dance enthusiasts - and they’ve all given FLAF the thumbs up. So what’s your problem?
And another thing, the fact that Roxette songs have been chosen by these DJ’s mean that they think these tracks are classics. Only the classics get remixed. Take it as a compliment. There are tons of these kinda remixes being made - the fact is tho, that only “classic” tracks from the 80’s and eraly 90’s are being used.
Listen To Your Heart by DHT is still tops I have to say. Can’t wait for Sat’day night tho. Will get the dj to play FLAF, and I’ll definitely hear LTYH as well. Helps to make friends with them ;o)
Cheers
purplemedusa said on April 15, 2005 08:12:
Staffany... I don’t know what up with you, but your last view msg’s seem all negative!! Please try to focus on the positive in the future... it’s not pleasant for anyone reading those kinds of msg’s!! Hugs for you, Fabio!!
’Ro, mmm guess you’ll be in PE over the w/end, right? Well, going past Uitenage (is that how u spell it) on a rather brief visit... would loved to have planned it better to see you!! Urm... what do you bribe the DJ’s wif? *evil grin* Have fun & give hugs to Ed!!!
Still no frontpage news... unless the TDR team is awaiting some offiacial statement!?
ally77 said on April 15, 2005 08:19:
I know am so surprised nothing on front page yet! what going on with TDR at the moment....
I like it and if anyone has managed to obtain the full version I would love to have a copy! [email protected]
I cannot wait to buy it when it is released... it’s just so nice to think the name Roxette will be back in the charts very soon and from what I gather a possible number 1 in the UK - how cool will that be!!! :)
I think this tracks needs the support of us as much as possible, it’s so great that they have used a classic song and not ruined the sound of Marie’s voice too much! FLAF was always a good song and I one one hope it makes it big!
carbon_boy said on April 15, 2005 10:20:
@ Miss M. - exactly my thoughts - i was just not in the mood for the flaming that would usually follow. ;o)
Btw, Nou sê jy my! Why don’t you come around for a visit? Are you driving thru Uitenhage, or actually going there? I will be in PE, yes, but chances are I’ll be at my folks place in U’hage on Sat’day.
Later ;o)
purplemedusa said on April 15, 2005 11:02:
’Ro... well the initial plan was to drive through... but we’ll be going through De Rust instead... sucks if u ask me... my mind can’t deal with all the bush, sand & Ostriches!! But non the less it’s gonna b a fabulous roadtrip i fink!! Will b driving all through the night... urm come 2 fink of it i should get some sleep in!! If anything change & we do end up in Uitenhage I’d let u know!!!
girl7twenty7 said on April 15, 2005 13:18:
Sounds really nice though I’m not a fan of such kind of music. Agree with carbon_boy: take it as a compliment :) Wish it would be a start of rox comeback.
pwbbounce (moderator) said on April 15, 2005 15:11:
Does anyone know which compliation this has already appeared on? Quite like it, don’t really like listening to dance music anymore, but this isn’t too bad. At least they haven’t got some talentless singer for the vocals...
onlywhenidream said on April 15, 2005 15:48:
it is on a com CD called Fresh and Funky House Anthems. doing well inhe UK charts at the moment...
pwbbounce (moderator) said on April 15, 2005 15:59:
Yeah, just rushed out from work to go to Woolworths and they’ve got it! Going to listen to it on the way home. The clip sounds good though!
Roxrider_USA said on April 15, 2005 16:41:
Hey!
The Alex K. Bouce remix is already on the internet, if i’m not mistaken.
I found it on DC++. The file name is Fading Like A Flower (Alex K Remix). Just not sure if it’s the same one.
Take care!
Carlos E., New York.
ally77 said on April 15, 2005 20:23:
Nothing wrong your entitled to your opinion on here just as everyone else.... but I for one like the remix, and cannot wait to buy it.... mind you I would do anything to see Roxette back in the charts! :)
ncurran said on April 15, 2005 21:19:
I didnt think much of the remix at first, but its seriously growing on me. Its so catchy how it repeats the chorus over and over

Scoll said on April 19, 2005 07:59:
Yeah it’s the same as what I downloaded a while back which was called (Fading Like A Flower - White Label Mix) and in the view file info in winamp it says (The Love E.P) 1994.
onlywhenidream said on April 12, 2005 13:02:
Not sure if this is the same discussion as the below link (but don’t think so as the one by Dancing DJs is 2005 mix)
http://www2.dailyroxette.com/smalltalk/thread.php/11870
But according to reviews it may be a big hit (if it ever gets commercial release as a single) would be great to pave the way back for Roxette?!?
See the review below, from a respected UK dance website.
(it has already been released on a compilation CD in the UK)
