I kinda agree with Rich-UK. CBB is great! Maybe not the best Roxette track, but certainly the best Roxette ballad. Lyrics and melody are killers!

Yeah, I would have much preffered Fireworks as the winner too. I’ve always liked that song. And it was around Round #10 that I had to listen to the 4/5 remaining songs to figure out which one I liked least. Fireworks suddenly sprung to life for me again there.
By the way, LaMan, was that DBUGTTC you were talking about? What’s TDUGTTC? Just a typo?
It’s a bit wierd doing it for a Best Of album. Would people like to see the “previously unreleased” songs in there too, or just a poll for the singles?

Hi Richard. Cheers again for resurrecting these polls – they’re fun! I have no opinion on what to do about the hits albums, given that most of the tracks will already have ’had their chance’ in a poll. Depending on how far you wish to take all this, it would be nice in addition to polls for POP / LS / J / T / CBB / HAND / RS to see each officially-released Roxette song have its chance, then the winners battle it out in a final!!

Was “Surrender” voted as the best song on “Pearls Of Passion”??? What about “So Far Away”? In my oppinion, “Surrender” and “Call Of The Wild” are the worst songs on the first album.

Well, these polls aren’t really based on 1 person’s particular favourites... more our collective ’taste’ ( whatever that may be, sometimes! ;-) ).
And I agree, Surrender isn’t my favourite song on Pearls Of Passion... I would’ve much preferred So Far Away or From One Heart To Another to win. But, that’s the way it goes. Not everyone can be pleased about every outcome. And it’s nice to finally have an uptempo song to win one of these polls...
And hej... the only way to help your favourite songs win is by taking part in the next one! ;-)

I’m talking from an objective point of view. “C! B! B!” is, musically, better than “Sleeping In My Car”. It’s artistically superior. I didn’t say it’s my favourite (in fact, it is). You can’t compare those songs. I like “SIMC”, it’s one of my favourites too. But it’s a trivial song. “C! B! B!” has a better structure, clever lyrics, an exquisite arrangement, etc. Maybe a piece of art on its own. I can’t say the same about SIMC...

It had been a while since I listened to Pearls Of Passion... so when all of this was going on, I listened to the album again. The only songs I really can’t stand are the songs that were chosen as the singles. Stupid work of EMI... again! :(

I’m not all that crazy over POP. . . I do like I Call Your Name, Secrets, Joy Of A Toy, and especially Like Lovers Do. I also like Pearls Of Passion, and even though it sounds soooooo 80s, Turn To Me. And I think I prefer a few of the demos to the final versions.
Some songs just seem to drag—Voices, Surrender, From One Heart. . . Call Of The Wild kind of grew on me.
Soul Deep is better on Joyride, but I like both versions of So Far Away—better on POP. Good drums on that one.
