How was TDR in 1997??

I see TDR has been online 1997-2005 and I´m curious how it was in the beginning?
Is there anybody who is a “veteran” from 1997?
There was only 1 forum, right? (Roxette related, no off topics etc.??) Or am I wrong?
What´s the number of registered users now?

I used to save TDR on my harddrive at first, I think I still have a CD with all that old stuff on it somewhere... *goes off to look for CD*

TDR back in 1997 was designed to look like a newspaper.
I think Visa got his inspiration from the cover and feel of the “Look Sharp” album cover.
The overall look worked very well and was great for the time, especially considering the infancy of web design in general in that period.
Yes, a killer look!
@ Visa: Do you have a screen shot you could share with us?

Yes, please! Can we have an image of how it used to look.
What other versions have there been? I have only ever known the current orange/yellow version.

There was the green and white version that I like so much (since it was easy on the eyes). I can’t believe that the forum is as active as it was before (I think much more!!!).

I remember once when Visa put a page to vote for the rockbjörnen, aftonbladet had the site in Swedish, and I think Visa put it in English and a “submit” button that was sending the info to Aftonbladet (pretty simple-coded by them hehe).
And of course, all those translated news and all.. it was the time when I started to surf and my Swedish was nada, so it was a great source of info. The best :D
If I don’t remember wrong, there was a break and then Visa + TDR came back stronger and better than ever, with the greenish design. 99? 2000?
Great that TDR is still the best efter så många år :)

Yes, the first look mimiced the “Look Sharp” look. Then there was another layout that used the fonts on HAND cover. And another one with black background which was when I made TDR t-shirts (like the one Thomas is wearing in this pic: http://www.evensson.com/temp/tdr_ta1.jpg). So that makes this yellow-orange version the fourth version.
The site has been in many different addresses before 2000, so that’s why Web Archive can’t find the older versions.
I don’t have any screenshots at hand, but I may find something. Or not.

Here’s the “Have A Nice Day” version from February 1999, as archived by Web Archive: http://web.archive.org/web/19990219103344/www.visakopu.net/dailyroxette/
And here’s the layout with the black background: http://web.archive.org/web/20000903003534/www2.dailyroxette.com/

Wow, I had totally forgotten about the HAND-layout! Too bad only parts of Smalltalk are archived, it ’d have been fun to read all those old discussions again...

It’s so interesting to read all of those old news stories. All that stuff about a US “mini” tour for HAND, and Per saying in a webchat that Crush On You would be the 2nd single from HAND, and not Anyone.
I’m pretty sure Per meant all of those things he said - but EMI changed their mind. How stupid are record labels exactly? HAND could have sold 8 million copies if they let Roxette do what they (and all of us) wanted to be done. But no... EMI knows best, aparently. ;-)

2000:
New Roxette album inspired by William Orbit
by roxeteer - 8/25/2000 16:08 (UTC+0)
[Hallandsposten] Per says in FLT’s interview published in Hallandposten, that some of the songs recorded for the forthcoming Roxette album sound almost like those of the producer guru William Orbit. Orbit has worked with many top-selling artists, such as Madonna (“Ray of Light” album) and Melanie C (her solo debut “Northern Star”).
“There has been progress in that trend of pop music. Our producer Clarence Öfwerman is also very keen to it,” Per says, but continues: “Though [on our album] there will be a whole bunch guitars too.”
Per also talks about the coming US mini tour and the release of greatest hits album and radio single “Wish I Could Fly”. “Very many people call to the radio stations and ask for our songs, so I hope our compilation helps us to rise from death [in the US],” says Per.

LaMan´s comments: inspired by Orbit? Hmmmm.... may work for Madonna and Kylie but Roxette?!?!

The Roxattaq USA Campaign has now ended
On behalf of the team may we thank all the fans
who effortlessly contacted all the American radio
stations and requested Roxette to be played.
Thank you

LaMan: I was one of the ones who worked on RoxattaqUSA. Anything you wanting to know?

I have the backup of the website used by then (hosted at roxette.net, run by Lars, Steven and myself), I might upload it somewhen so you see what it was about :)

I am. I remember that it looked like “The Daily Roxette” newspaper from the Look Sharp booklet and I think there wasn’t a forum yet. That came with the green “Anyone” version. Maybe Visa can give you some details?
