Come to Canada, we are the real thing; we are what you can call the nordic country. Since last week, here in east, the temperature was an average of -30 to -45 (with the ‘wind factor‘ as environnement canada like to remind us here (since -20 to -30 isn‘t cold enough...) and we have about 3 to 4 feet of snow...Welcome to Canada, the winter land...
Vixzter said on January 27, 2004 06:30:
LOL....the big freeze ;) OK.....I just saw thw weather..... -5 with windchill here in the South.
I was in Boston last December and it was -19 without the wind chill ;) Stockholm in 2001..... -11 without the windchill...... and us Brits worry about a -5 ;)
Being in Oxford....the snow will probably miss me.....dumps it all on the hills around us, if it snows I’ll take a picture ;) doesn’t happen very often.
Anyway....they’re going on about the big freeze......well.....isn’t that whats supposed to happen at this time of year ?? its winter after all.

I don’t care about the cold, bring it on... I HATE heat! I WANT SNOW! :(:(:(:(:(:(
Skies are clear here, not a cloud in sight. Poo. :(
Vixzter said on January 27, 2004 21:51:
Been out hockey training tonight.....no sign of snow....infact it wasn’t even that cold....probably just about -1.
Ever since the storm on October ’87 weather ppls have over played the serverity of the weather basicaly coz its better to be safe than sorry.
The massive storm in ’87 was only supposed to be light to moderate winds ....... trees came down, roof’s were blown off houses ppls got killed, so now even the slightest hint of bad weather and they’re out with the serve weather warnings.
rox-kuryliw said on January 27, 2004 22:57:
ow i remember that vix. my school roof had blown off. w

I’m with StillFar– everybody should come to Canada. Or better yet, the Prairies! It’s going to be -35 C here, with a windchill of -49 C. Whooo hah!!!!
MiracleMan said on January 28, 2004 13:22:
Kachina—are you taking that temperature rectally?
Anarem’s in the neighborhood, butt/teat-wise.

10 schools in my area where shut today because of the snow! why? WHY?... is it a problem getting into school because of SNOW! Hell we did have snow in the 90’s when I went to school... and they did not shut then! Jeez January 1991 thick snow I manged to get to school with my leg in plaster! ;)
MiracleMan said on January 29, 2004 18:30:
So does the snow thing not happen that often in the UK? Or is this your first snow of the winter?
Vixzter said on January 29, 2004 18:47:
It used to happen all the time up until the mid 80’s, and then our winters got warmer......so when cold weather comes around like this everyone goes bonkers and the country comes to a stand still coz the local services can’t cope ;) they never have enough grit for the roads etc...things like that.
Vixzter said on January 29, 2004 18:49:
When they shut schools its usualy coz the lazy arse teachers can’t make it in or the heating breaks down. They shut schools here too....anyone would think we’d had 10ft and not 2” of the stuff.
Stormkeeper said on January 29, 2004 19:34:
I really like snow, winter is my favorite season of the year.
Denstandigaresan said on January 29, 2004 22:11:
MM, it’s Plymouths first snow of about 7 years! Even then it was about 20 minutes worth!
DaminehGessle said on January 29, 2004 23:08:
Harriej: It’s funny and odd how those who have never been to Iran think that it never snows there. Tehran has 4 seasons and each of them have the real beauty of that specific season. It rains in the spring and you can see blossoms all over. Summer is hot with colourful fruits. In fall, you can see Red/Orange and yellow leaves everywhere. Beautiful. And ofcourse in winter, it snows like hell. It’s beautiful. I miss seasons ever since I moved to Canada. I don’t like snow though. Too messy for adults.
powerpoplarry said on January 30, 2004 00:20:
Well, we got dumped with 14 inches where I live, it’s pretty cool before it gets all muddy, slushy, and yucky!! I love when it’s freshly fallen, and there are no footprints yet, looks lovely. Plus, here, it can’t get too cold when it snows, so usually, it’s in the low 30s/high 20s F, not bitter at all. Plus this snow is perfect for a snowball fight, yeehah!!
Wen, if I was in Belgium right now, or you were here, you would now win that snowball fight, HUSSAHHH!!! ;-)
MiracleMan said on January 30, 2004 00:32:
I love the snow. If it’s gonna be this damned cold, I at least want it to be white.
lvninabx said on January 30, 2004 11:38:
Took me 9 hours to travel 3miles in Birmingham. I would’ve dumped my car and walked but I knew it wouldn’ be there in the morning .
rox-kuryliw said on January 30, 2004 12:41:
hy people, hope you enjoyed the snow :-D , and in the great british tradition we have very mild weather coming, we have very fun weather in the UK lol
ally77 said on January 30, 2004 17:25:
I loved the snow.. always have done, I am certainly not one of the UK moaners who complains when it’s cold! my kind of weather is this, in fact the colder the better! Alfie had so much fun in the snow when it was fresh! but today he can hardly walk in it... as he just slips on his little paws!
MiracleMan said on January 31, 2004 19:23:
YAY! It’s supposed to be in the 20s today! We’ve been hovering in the negitives and just above for the past week. And we’re supposed to be getting a little snow from tonight through Monday. It’s just damned cold, though.
Dis all the snow melt? And is the rest of Europe getting snowed as well?
ally77 said on January 31, 2004 20:19:
Now we got the RAIN, all day... snow frost and slush all gone...
Denstandigaresan said on January 31, 2004 23:16:
Rain and more rain. It’s been none stop for 2 days. Last night couldn’t sleep cause of it hammering on my window all night, and the sound of running water making my bladder dance!
MiracleMan said on February 1, 2004 00:03:
