please help with the codecs

hi folks, anybody could please help me? i got a movie in avi format, but it writes me in mplayer that the videoformat is unknown... i have uinstalled m2v codec, divx 5.0.3 but still doesn’t work...
and it also writes: “I can’t find decompressor vids:xvid” please where can i download it? Many thanx

You need the XVid codec, get it from ROXBYTES. Go to Misc. downloads, it’s there. Hope it solves the problem.

thanx pietro, i found it on roxbytes last night :) but i tried that movie on 2 PCs with mplayer. On one pc it works ok, but on the other it shows black screen also after installing xvid...

I use RealOne player, the codec from divx works in that.
