HALLOWEEN

Oh not long till October 31st... what will you do? Here in the UK Halloween is slowly getting bigger each year! Since living on my own I always make sure I have something in to give to people when they knock... the only thing that annoys me with UK children they started knocking 2 weeks early.... :(

I’ll be having my 8th? annual party. Totally not prepared by way of costume.

Last year I was The Lone Ranger—Incognito. Dressed like a cowby, denim, boots, white handled six shooter and white hat. Had a tan (makeup) everywhere but where the mask would be. That area was conspicuously pasty white.

Year before I was a suicidal snowman, replete with hairdryer pointing at my puffy white head.

Any ideas from anyone would be welcome as the date is fast approaching.

Wow,almost 1 year ago that my hair was orange :s
I still want to kill my ex-boss for it :p grrrrrrrr

Awwwwwww MM sounds like good fun!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I have halloween with the best people!
My mum works in a home for adults with learning disabilities and stuff. for the last few years, I went to help out up there on halloween. I get to cook hotdogs and potatoes and stuff. HUGE bonfire and fireworks!!

Trick or treat pisses me off, I don’t celebrate halloween and I don’t see why I should give kids some sweets for the sake of stopping them vandalizing my car.

Firework night is more like it! atleast that has sommit to do with us! :P only problem with bonfire night is that it starts about 3 weeks early and goes on til 3 weeks after...terrifying my cats!

Oh bloody marvelous.....I’m out on 31st October (with car) !!!

@Ally i have never done halloween not in england or canada but the kids enjoy it (even big kids)

yea vix, I never give out sweets to the kids. Never had the car decked though, that’s harsh. Welcome to cool Brittania

I got a cute little hat for Alfie to wear!

Here only the very very stupid celebrate (not in the traditional U.S. way tho) Halloween...
generally those rich daddy’s boys who never set foot on the “street” and those that only care about “Looks”

Cleaning the house like a mad fiend to get ready for the annual party. . .looks like I’ll have a housefull, which is better than last year when I, unusually, had 4 total—including me. (The fear of what if you throw a party and no one comes? Well, it F*CKIN’ SUCKS!)

Anyway, we had our annual competetion at work for costumes and I, thinking I was rather clever, and I hadn’t been at work for Halloween last year, used my costume from last year’s party (4 PEOPLE!!!!!) and dressed as the Lone Ranger Incognito (as I said above—dressed like a cowby, denim, boots, white handled six shooters and white hat. Had a tan (makeup) everywhere but where the mask would be. That area was conspicuously pasty white. )

I was awarded—get this—Best Attempt! My smart-ass co-workers had a field-day with it. The prize was top-notch, but they made the award up on the spot and gave it a sorry-ass name. I was rather insulted about the “award”. Especially since one participant just put on a gorilla mask. She got ugliest (and believe me, the mask was an improvement. She could have come as Quasimodo without going through the trouble of make-up.)

Best attempt, indeed.

I dislike Halloween. It’s a scary event.

oh phooey. It’s fun, and you get to be and do things that you wouldn’t normally do.

For being fun and get to be and do things that you wouldn’t normally do we already have “Carnaval”, I think in English it’s Carnival also.

Doesn’t that exist in the USA?

Im From the UK and dont like HALLOWEEN , a bad US import i feel , never had it when i was a kid,

plus you cant beat 5th of november bonfire night ( very english as is the story of it lol) . :-D with fireworks and mushy peas lol .

Happy Halloween... although what’s happy about it?*Continues to watch spooky movies*
I used to go trick or treating... only two or three times when I was about 10-13. A bloke in the next street used to work for Wrigleys, and each halloween he would give us a box of chewing gum each. Up until about 15, I would just go past his house, and he would come out with the box of chewing gums. :D

Happy Halloween! I am all ready for some fun tonight and to give my goodie bags to the children!

I’m off to London......trick ot treat can get stuffed ;)

Bonfire night next week!! yay.....atlast something British to celebrate ;)

Remember remember
The 5th of November
Gun powder
Treason
And plot

or something like that

>;)

Pitty I don’t have a garden big enough for a bonfire though.....coz I used to love making Guy Fawkes to sit on top ;) the only thing that annoys about bonfire night is the penny for a guy buisness....but not seen any of that this year :)

I kinda lived my first Halloween :S

I had never celebrated such stuff in Spain and today 4 girls rang on the door.. well just gave them a box of cookies that we got for free and didn’t like (they were still closed, we didn’t open them cuz we knew we don’t like them)..

Connie says that this Halloween is also rather new here in AT.. gets more and more IN every year.. I think it is stupid anyway.

Well, if they pay attention to Christmas in Japan, I guess this is quite normal... after who hasn’t watched at least ten American movies dealing with Halloween?
They’re just conquering our culture, and “we let” the empire do :P:D

As long as we all don’t start eating turkey in the end of November is not really serious :D

getting my Guy Fawkes ready this weekend for bonfire night YAY.

@santi (and others):
In Catalonia (SPain) we have a tradition called “Castanyada”.. basically, we gather friends/family together and we eat baked castanien (chestnuts?? dunno english word..maroni in AT German) and sweets called “panellets” (made basically of almond, sugar and egg).. and eat a special “wine” called “moscatell”.. so ok, i have lived this tradition since I was a kid.

At school we used to bake these panellets in the morning and then gather all together after lunch and eat the castanien + panellets all together..

But my mum today told me that some schools don’t do this anymore, they just talk + celebrate the halloween instead.. *grrrrr* And THIS pisses me off.

I’ve lived here three years and this is the first year I’m here Halloween night. Since the party is tomorrow night, I’m waiting for trick-or-treaters now. . .waiting. . .waiting. . . and it’s likely the little bastards won’t show since I bought candy to pass out. More for the party, though. . .

And appropriately enough, I gave blood today. :D

AND to those who think the US is taiting their culture. . . um. . .well. . .

Mwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
