"Stay" lyrics

I was searching for some thread discussing the lyrics to “Stay” and as in all of them they are eventually the same...
—–
You took a ride to the other side
But I loved you
You took a flight in the middle of the night
But I loved you
You took a swim in an ocean of fools
I still loved you
You took a dream, then you painted it blue
But loved you
I thought you never would come back
I thought you never could come back, oh no
Stay... stay another day
I want you all the way
At home, at work, at play
Won’t you stay?
Make it easy babe
Wait another day
Stay home, at work, at play
You tried to learn from history
You tried to kiss like a lover should
On the balcony
You took a dive when a fish was alive
But I loved you
You took my smile and have turned it to a cry
But I loved you
I’ve never suspected you looking back
I’ve never expected you come back, oh no
Stay... stay another day
I want you all the way / I want you, I want you/
At home, at work, at play
Please stay
Make it easy babe
Wait another day /another day, another day/
Stay home, at work, at play
Stay... stay another day
I want you all the way / I want you, I want you/
At home, at work, at play
Please stay
Make it easy babe
Wait another day /another day, another day/
Stay home, at work, at play
Won’t you stay?
Please stay...

... So I was just wondering if these are the - how shall I say - “agreed official” lyrics? (I’m only asking coz I have some doubts regarding some parts... Thus why I looked up for them. :P Or are these lyrics found in those several threads here actually to be from some official source?)
Thank you.

Here’s the lines which keep having me confused (in parenthesis):
You took a ride to the other side
But I loved you
(But I love you)
You took a flight in the middle of the night
But I loved you
(But I love you)
You took a swim in an ocean of fools
I still loved you
(I still love you)
You took a dream, then you painted it blue
(You took a dream and you painted it blue)
But loved you
(But I love you)
I thought you never would come back
I thought you never could come back - oh no
Stay... stay another day
I want you all the way
At home, at work, at play
Won’t you stay?
Make it easy babe
Wait another day
Stay home, at work, at play
You tried to learn from history
(You try to learn from history) (

I guess you’d better learn the way Per speaks English in headphones. Also pay attention to a grammar.

???...
AntiMario, would you please help me understand you, and please specify to which sentences you’re referring to, in each of both your comments, please?... Thank you so much. :)

what’s here hard to understand? Since it was me who picked up the lyrics in 1st place, I referred to listening to the song in headphones (as I did) to distinguish small unhearable parts of the endings. Besides combining past and present time in the lyrics (especially knowing Per) is not so fitting here. That’s why I insist on my version.

@ AntiMario: Yes, yes, I have done that myself aswell, yes. :) I listened to the CD on my CD player, and then with headphones; even listened to the mp3 I had previously downloaded from RusRox, and then also with headphones. Yet there were (are!) some lines which I was (am!) in doubt about, so that’s why I came to look up for the lyrics. First stop was RoxService. Found them there. Then, and as I wanted lyrics from different sources, so that I might be able to compare them and check for any eventual differences (or not!, I wouldn’t know), next I went to RoxBytes. Unfortunately, though, these weren’t there. So I tried the forum here. And so I came across a few threads, with the lyrics to “Stay”. And so I compared them, and compared them to those from RoxService. And as all of the lyrics were eventually the same, so I thought of exposing my own doubts about it here. But I guess I have been somewhat misunderstood, maybe? Cos when I say that I am doubtful about some of the lines in the song, I’m not meaning to say that the lyrics which I found here (and on RoxService, which are the same) are right or wrong, absolutely not; all I mean is just that I, I myself have not been able to positively distinguish some of the lines (those I have written in parenthesis) and just am not 100% certain whether Per sings it one way or the other, that’s just it. :) I mean, there are lines that I’m less in doubt than others, for instance “you took a dream then you painted it blue”, I’m 99% sure that it is that what Per says, “then you painted it blue”, rather than “and you painted it blue”. 99,9% sure actually. :P Then, for instance, when it comes to those lines “but I loved you”, yes, in some it does sound like he says “loved” (as in the line “you took a swim in an ocean of fools, I still loved you”, this one I’m rather certain that Per says “loved you”), but in others it isn’t so clear to me to distinguish it, if it is “loved” or “love” what he says (like in the line coming next for example, “you took a dream then you painted it blue, but I loved?/love? you”), and today, after having listened to the song like hundreds of times, I still am not too sure of what it is that my ears hear... :P (Take another example: “I’ve never suspected you looking back”. I still can’t distinguish whether Per says something between “you” and “looking” or not...) But then again, some of the lines I was not so doubtful about them, as “you took a dive where the fish was alive”; untill I saw it everywhere “when a fish was alive”, I was almost sure that was what Per says: “where the fish was alive”?... Or the line where you have “you took my smile and have turned it to a cry”, I always thought “you took my smile and it turned into a cry” was what he says?... But then again, perhaps I misheard it? Well, I don’t know. And that’s just what this thread is about, me wishing to clear those lines *I* am not so certain about. :) So I hope I have managed to explain myself a little better now? :) (Cos I was starting to fear it that you had taken it as I was wanting to question the lyrics you had written? :( No, it’s not that, absolutely! I’m not meaning to question the lyrics you wrote, you or anyone else, no; I’m rather questioning what *I* hear, and just wanted to hear about what others hear on themselves! :)) Still, thank you, for anyway trying to help. :)

You shouldn’t write THAT much. I barely ended up reading in the middle. :D
I guess here is better to ask some native born English or American persons since I’m from humble Russia. Hey, Vix where are you?

@AntiMario: Thanx for the new reply *and* the smiley! :) Glad (and very much relieved I can’t hide it! :)) to see that that fear of mine “that you had taken it as I was wanting to question the lyrics you had written” after all it had no reason to be. :) (Did it?... Or?... :( ) Cos you know, I don’t like it to cause anyone to feel bad or upset or annoyed or hurt, and, whenever I get that impression that such may have happened, I do get this urge to explain myself and try to clear it, so that no bad feelings hang in the air. I do not like such to ever happen. (Guess that’s why sometimes I even restrain myself of writing here more... Guess for being afraid of being misinterpreted... And for fearing the hostility resulting from such misinterpretations... Cos sometimes (sad but true - at least it sadens *me*) it does get somewhat hostile around here... :( I don’t know for what reason, perhaps over time people just got maybe too much used to everyone being picky and ironic and teasing and sarcastic and flamming, and now it seems as everyone sees everyone elses words through those eyes... And knowing this from the start sometimes does end up intimidating me from saying my own words... Yet again, maybe this is just me being plain dumb, not so new, I have never been that very selfconfident of a person really...) But anyway, me says sorry, for the much I made you read! :P It’s really just that, as I said, whenever I feel my words may have upset someone, I just feel this need to explain my point... Sometimes even “over-explain” yes I am conscious of it!!... :P (Sorry again for all those lines! And these! :P) And still, thanx once more, for the understanding. :) And as for the lyrics, well, it’s not that it is of that much importance really. It’s only that I was wishing to send them to a friend and wished them to be as accurate as possible and since I wasn’t managing that on myself... (Hey Per, where are you? :P) But it’s really not that big of a deal anyway. :) (Yet it is indeed a pitty that these bonus EP’s and CD-singles and etc do not come with the lyrics to its tracks... :( ) Anyways! Cheers from the other end of Europe (humble Portugal)! :)
