Per and Marie - was there a love affair???

About “tequila”: It was on R2R forum and it was also here some time ago...And here there were also lots of discussions on this subject (possible love affair).
I saw only parts of the tv show and the the guy said that he thinks that they did it anyway. Not now, because they are already old and married, but when they were young. There were some moments of embarassing and laughters and then Marie (correct me if I am wrong) said that it “well, it was a wild tequila night in the early ’80”. And the guy said “And?...Did you make up?” and Per says (I think) “No, in the end Marie threw up”. And they look at each other and then Marie says “Yes”. But the guy looks as if he doesn’t believe much of it..
Well, I don’t know...Maybe I’m not very correct...But c’mon, someone here must have been seen the show more than once!!! Say something, because I didn’t watch it very closely and carefully!! Say something! ...I think there was more in that show, but I can’t remember. I’m not very interested in this kind of things...I’ll ask my wife, maybe she knows more about it.
But I think there’s not too much to discover on this subject...They keep it very private anyway.

I don’t think they had an affair...it is very difficult to go back to the person you where before you had the affair, BUT I think along the line somewhere at least one of them had to start feeling something for the other one, but nothing was done about it out of respect for the other one. If this is true then they are both very good people.

Anyway, personally I´m not interested to know if there was any other relationship between Per and Marie. I love their music, that´s all. If they want to share some private details with fans it´s O.K., but if they want to keep it as a secret it´s also O.K. for me.

They only had sex some months but that was all. It was like a physical relationship but no love affair... ;-)

Yea, we can only guess. At least 10 years ago, when they were much more younger, not now, it could be (and there is a strong probability, was) something.
I think, if it had happened, it was a short and not serious affaire, maybe it was only sex one or few times after some wild party etc, because they stayed friends and still do now. You know, the ties of friendship are stronger than ties of love, it’s harder to destroy them.
And here are some of my thoughts provoked by the topic.
Interesting fact. How much songs-“love duets” like Neverending Love, Silver Blue did P and M sing? Not so much as a duo of a man and a woman could and the most part was sung in the early years.
Per. I have a feeling that Per sees in Marie more than a friend or sister, a muse at least. My almost unreal version: when they met she didn’t return his love so M became a P’s muse and friend :) Look closely at him- in videos and concerts there are moments when he looks at M with such an entreaty and torment. First he invited her to do back-vocals for GT, then she sang in Per’s solo album, later they formed a duo, he writes songs for her. But he couldnt manage without her in the next solo works too. I think, there is a Per’s dependence of Marie, she’s either kind of drug or talisman for P.
My little investigation has to have an end. In any case Rox have damn good songs and what about their relationship... that’s their own affair.

This song tells a lot about their controversial feelings in the early ’80s...Keep in mind that this song is on “Scener”, when he finally met Asa, the love of his life... Just read that interview (with very bad scanning) with P and Asa from 1985 that was named on a topic here (you can find it on R2R forum)...Asa mentioned Marie there: Per’s friend whom she’s not gelous... But Per and Marie were INDEED very good friends in that time...
On “Per Gessle” Marie has a bigger contribution than on his later “Scener”...
I believe that they always felt the same: they couldn’t manage being a real couple, but on the other hand they could’t live totally separate from each other...
And one more thing: I’m sure Per was crazy about Asa when he met her, but I don’t believe her when she says that she wasn’t gelous at all on Marie...
So, “the problems” and the professional and personal connections between Per and Marie were there BEFORE Roxette was formed... I don’t think Asa was really happy when P and M finally decided to form Roxette...

my thoughts too...about the song. In my opinion the text is not so much about their imaginary “love affair” but it describe the inner strength Marie has to deal with all the obstacles in life. :)
