Not to mention that more people bought records back in ABBA’s day... they were much cheaper and there was no satisfactory free alternative (i.e., downloading, burning, etc.). People bought singles back then, too... so it really is quite difficult to compare the two...

By the end of the 70ies ABBA had sold 150 000 000 records, in aproximately 7 years, plus 9 UK N°1 Singles and 8 ( 9 if you consider ABBA Gold) UK N°1 albums. They are the third best seller act ever behind Elvis and The Beatles, although in the 70ies ABBA oversold The Beatles
