This is very cool! If “Opportunity Nox” actually comes out (and doesn’t go the way of the infamous “Anyone” UK release...), it will be the first up-tempo single in four years (since “Stars”)... and only the third since 1994. Glad to hear it!

See the date has changed already.. as EMI said it was released on June 9th... now it is another week off??!!!!
roxtexanet said on May 18, 2003 20:10:
The release date for “The Pop Hits” is still June 9th, it’s only the single that’s scheduled for June 16th, and I didn’t think we’d heard anything about a single prior to this (or am I wrong?)...

@ Roxtexanet.... so sorry I misread it.... yeah TPH is out June 9th and OPPORTUNITY NOX is out on June 16th.... I CANNOT BELIVE THIS IS TO BE RELEASED.... I DID NOT THINK IT WOULD BE.... PROMO EMI - (IF YOU ARE READING!!)
~~~~~~~~~~~WE NEED PROMO!!~~~~~~~~~
Actually releasing “The Centre Of The Heart” in UK would be a RELEASE not a RE-RELEASE. The only single off “Room Service” in UK was “Milk + Toast + Honey”.
Personally I think releasing “Opportunity Nox” a week after “The Pop Hits” is a VERY bad idea. See what happened with “A Thing About You” (which was a far more “promising” single in UK than “Opportunity Nox”) released a week after “The Ballad Hits” ! Even if the album is a hit (which was the case for “The Ballad Hits”) it has no influence for the single released a week later.
Roxette Pop In
The mega-duo are back with new single and pop greatest hits
Now they’re back for more with a retrospective and a handful of new tracks to boot. The Pop Hits, out on 9th June, is a compilation of all of Roxette’s toe-tapping greats (see tracklisting below) and includes two new songs one of which, ‘Opportunity Nox’, will be released on 16th June.
The Pop Hits features all their best radio- and top ten-friendly cuts from ‘How Do You Do?’ to ‘Dressed For Success’. The list of hits looks like a soundtrack for the easy-listening rock generation and here’s what you can get your teeth stuck into…
1. Opportunity Nox (2003)
2. The Look (1988)
3. Dressed For Success (1988)
4. Dangerous (1988)
5. Joyride (1991)
6. The Big L. (1991)
7. Church Of Your Heart (1991)
8. How Do You Do! (1992)
9. Sleeping In My Car (1994)
10. Run To You (1994)
11. June Afternoon (1995)
12. Stars (1999)
13. The Centre Of The Heart (2001)
14. Real Sugar (2001)
15. Little Miss Sorrow (2003)
This is the UK..... as much as we know Opportunity Nox would do well - IT WOULD HELP IF IT HAD RADIO PLAY.... but we all know this won’t happy.....
For me I don’t give a shit... I WILL buy the single if it is released for the sake of having it in my collection but I already have the album so I am not buying another copy..... EMI can get stuffed.... for the poor service they provide...
I am NOW waiting for Per’s new album!!
@ally77: the single will be the same as the european version, as thats what happend with ATAY, not even a UK cat# number to make it different.
s-czopek said on June 22, 2003 21:42:
...not exactly Radio 1, but I suppose it’s better than absolutely nothing. The single was supposed to come out today, anyone have trouble finding it?
Has ON been released this week or has it been scrapped altogether? Go Guernsey radio for playing it though!!!!!
No-one seems to know anything about the commercial release of ON.
Another “Anyone” fiasco?
ChrisWilliams said on June 26, 2003 17:31:
The Centre Of The Heart is much stronger - I just don’t understand why EMI can’t see its potential. I think they should forget the release of Opportunity Nox, and focus on the past hits: Perhaps a double A-Side with The Centre Of The Heart (as it’ll be like a “new” song to UK buyers) and maybe The Look or Joyride.
No point having both The Look and Joyride on the same single, as sales of The Pop Hits will decrease.
s-czopek said on June 27, 2003 00:02:
It seems every Roxette single releases in UK are fiascos since “Wish I Could Fly”...
They haven’t reached The Top 60 since it was released.
