I am going on holiday next week to barcelona and wondered if anyone knows of any good places to visit, or any good record stores? I want to plan ahead.
Thanks

Just got back from my holiday and it was fantastic. We went up the towers of sagrada, visited the monestry high up on monserrat. Found a loveley Tapas bar on Carrer de Napolis with food like I have never tasted. The Olympic stadium is beautiful, and the Gaudi parc and apartments were out of this world. We spent a few days relaxing on the beach in Sitges which was fantastic.
All in all it’s the most fantastic place I have ever been. It’s a different world. xxxx

Wow, I am back in this city at the moment and it is so fantastic. I came here many years ago on a school trip and I think I did not appreciate it as I do now! I could live here, I don’t wanna go home. The beauty of it I get to spend my 26th birthday here tomorrow!

There are some GREAT little record stores on Carrer de Tallers, just off of Las Ramblas by Placa Catalunya.....Discos Castello is one, but there are about 3 or 4 others within about 2 blocks of each other. Alot of bootlegs can be found here, although I was there last summer and there weren’t too many rare Roxette items. Another great place is El Corte Ingles at Placa Catalunya and the other store just a few blocks down on Portal de l’Angel is good too! Have a great time! You’ll love it there!!!
Whoops......didn’t notice that you posted this MONTHS ago!!!! Well next time you’re there, you know where to go for music!! :0)

I will be in barcelona from the 7th of October and I can’t wait. My theatre company is there at the moment with a new production of Hamlet which is well worth seeing if any of you fancy a bit of shakespeare.
P.S anyone know of any nightclubs that play cheesy pop music in barcelona, we don’t mind if they are straight or gay.
xx

Hi!
Well, as you may know there are plenty of bars and discos in Barcelona and where to go depends much in your preferences.
There is an area called ’Poble Nou’ in Barcelona which is plenty of bars where they play hard rock, heavy, punk... If you love this kind of music it is the best place. In this area I would recommend you to go to a dico called Razmatazz.
There is also another area which is very beautiful and plenty of cute bars. It’s the ’Gracia’ neighbourhood. You will see a lot of people in the street and inside the bars. Maybe it’s the best one. There is a dico called ’Sala Cibeles’.
Not far from this area there is Aribau street. Here you will find also really interesting night clubs. ’Get Back’ and ’Costa Breve’ are amongst the most typical ones. It’s a cool area, but here they are very strict with the clothes you wear, so I would recommend you to go well-dressed.
There’s also the center of Barcelona. In ’plaça reial’ (it’s a square) you’ll find 2 really interesting night clubs. One is called ’karma’ (rock music) and Jamboree (they play live music from 11 till 1 a.m. After that time it’s a dance club).
Gay places: one of the most interesting ones is a dico called ’Arena’ (in fact there are three dicsos called like this, all of them for gay people and everyone who wants to access in, of course). There are also planty of bars and discos and most of them are close to Plaça Univeritat (another square).
Well, I could tell you a lot of other places, but if you are looking for something specific you can contact me via e-mail. Take care!

mmm for pubs.. check out l’eixample, it’s full of them, many are gay but they used to play this kind of music .. at least some years ago!

And still now! I want to clarify that l’Eixample is a really big neighbourhood, and it’s around Plaça Univeristat where there are the best gay pubs. There is also a dico called Metro in Sepúlveda street. But, if you want to get more information about this kind of places check the web www.bcn-gay.com. (I think you can find all you need)
