Robbie Williams...

Just curious everyone’s take here on ol’ Robbie?? I’ve been listening to his stuff a lot lately, and I really dig his current one, “Escapology” a lot. He seems like a cool guy too, if a bit egotistical but in a funny way. I know he has a big gay following, but str8 guys like me love his tunage as well, and yes the guy is a womanizer; I should hang with him, his women luck might rub off on me, LOL!!
OK, anyone?? Discuss his music, persona, etc...

I think he’s so attractive :DDD And I like him ... not because of that but his voice and his style!
Stormkeeper said on April 6, 2003 10:20:
ooooh you 2 like him because how he looks... a bit pathetic?
animalkingdom said on April 6, 2003 11:10:
I don’t understand..All of a sudden he’s just become the biggest male artist - at least in Europe. His music isn’t that original, really. And the radio just keeps on playing “Feel” over and over and over again. :(

someone said he´s a bar singer :))
He´s male Madonna; not so talented as a singer but a master of handling the media

i haven´t heard so much from the last album, but the old songs are fine=) and i´m gonna see him on his europe-tour this summer, anyone else who´s gonna see him too?
animalkingdom said on April 6, 2003 20:35:
Thank god he’s not performing anywhere near Finland...Or actually, is he throwing a show in STHLM anyway? Bla!
He is the weakest live performer ever! I don’t think he’s ever heard of ’tones’ or ’notes’. :(
sweet_stalker57 said on April 6, 2003 22:59:
he has the honor of being the last CD I will ever buy. got it for 3 bucks too.

I think he is a great performer and he has got some really great songs and I saw him live, his voice is great when he siongs live, he is such an amazing artist.
I remember when he left Take That, everybody said, he wouldn’t last for more than a year. Look at him now, he became one of the most selling artists in the World...
of course it is because EMI backs him totally, but the fact is, especially his last Album is just great.

Incredable... that some don’t like Robbie...? Thats so far beyond my little understanding. NOnetheless, woke up this morning with a silly tune... knew it was a recent release and couldn’t get to it’s name... had to hum the entire tune in the bathroom & suddenly “Come Undone” slipped out... Robbie once again invaded my life (and this time it’s the real one & not some look-alike asshole!!)
animalkingdom said on April 9, 2003 10:06:
@ Th_Th
He has a GREAT voice?! LIVE? Well, you must have been lucky! As every single performance I ’ve seen of him has been a total catastrophe when it comes to his singing!

Maybe I was lucky, but who knows, maybe you were just the unlucky one. ;-)

@coy: he’s just like alot of british acts? hows that then?
Before u start slating Brit music (yet again) take a look at what your country throws at the world!
Robbie is big everywhere except America, mainly coz you lot confuse him with Robin Williams and think that there can’t possibly be anyone else in the world called Williams. Its pop music.....along the same lines as Britney the only problem u guys seem to have is that he’s Brit and not American.
Th_Th said on April 15, 2003 14:15:
I think especially Robbies latest Album just kicks serious ass!!!!
coyboyusa said on April 17, 2003 10:28:
wel think about hpw many uk act copy the stones and the beatles and the leton john format...very little original music comes formt he uk...they are stuck in a rut just like america and its fascination with rap as for his performance ability..he was on good morning america and couldn’t hold a tune...maybe cause he’s not used to small venuse....i saw him on the european music awardsonce and while he has stage apeal he can’t really perfom live hwich isnt his fault cause he wasn’t much of a lead singer in take that is i remember. The only 2 things about robbie that are good is that he fills a speedo and he’s short :) thats about it....if emi would stop throwing all it has in its coffers at peopel like hima nd mariah carey roxette would still be a dominant band worldwide

I have known Robbie since he first started singing with Take That. Well many of you Brits know him since then but Take That was nothing big here in North America. I really liked Take That music. Their concerts were more than awesome, great performers I can say. Actually I believe to this date, they are on my list for one of the best performers of all time. Queen, Elton John and George Michael are on top of that list so go figure.
I hated Robbie when he parted from Take That in 1996. I dunno why. I thought he had no right to do that. I believed Gary Barlow had the real talent and unfortunately, unfortunately his album didn’t do well at all here. Again, Europe is a different story.
Listening to Robbie’s material now, I think he’s getting better and better. The machoness some of you talked about oh well... Think of it this way: You are a teen when you get popular. Girls scream for you, tear up their clothes for you and etc. That would affect you indeed. That’s what I think.
To sum my nonsense up, I think he is pretty good. He is worth listening to.
DaminehGessle said on October 22, 2003 21:15:
What is wrong with British acts??? Brits have had the best performers of all time. What you like NSYNC crap??? Oh no!!! Oh country crap?? Oh hell oh no!! Rolling Stones, Queen, Pink Floyd, Elton John, George Michael, Annie Lennox, David Bowie, Led Zepplin, The Who.... You want me to go on?? Even Spice Girls!! Take That was awesome. Get one of their concerts and watch it for a while. They rock the stadium. Jeez some people!

And speaking of Bowie, he likened Williams and Kylie Minogue to bad cruise ship performers.
Escapology isn’t bad, but I haven’t listened to it as much as Swing & Sing When You’re Winning (The latter I liked better than The Ego Has Landed.) Escapology, for some reason, works a nerve somewhere along in there. I like Me & My Monkey and Feel gets stuck in my head if I hear just a little of it. He’s like good junk food: something I listen to until I feel like something more substantial.
He does, though, have that self-deprecation mixed with such cocky bravado, that you’ll either like him or hate him.
