I think its the only (or one of the very few) band that made it and lasted from 80s, 90s to 00s with great songs all the way like:
In the name of love
With or without u
Sunday bloody sunday
Where the streets have no name
Desire
Hold me Thrill me Kiss me Kill me
Its a beautiful day
Walk on
Stuck in a moment
Lemon
Elevation
Im out of control
Eveb better than the real thing
u may add some more...

Today I saw on MTV an diary which was made by Bono of U2 (and an other artist) about the problems in Africa, concerning HIV, AIDS and the hunger they have there.
After watching it, you really know that Bono is a good guy, he doesn’t do this to get attention for himself, but he knows that if he is helping, other people are more easy in helping Africa too.

i love WALK ON its soooo uplifting!
i think they used to “close” their concerts with this one..

yes, U2 and Cranberries are flippen amazing. I also think that the Corrs are just one of the greatest. I also love westlife to bits and think they are one of the greatest bands ever.
It is quite amazing that so many huge Bands come out of such a small country, keeping in mind that only 3 Million people live in Ireland!
vaxjoe said on March 11, 2003 16:38:
i love all of them...U2, the Crans, Corrs and Westlife...there must be something with Irish and music...i even like some stuff of boyzone and Ronan Keating
vaxjoe said on March 11, 2003 16:48:

its funny how peopel claim that they think george bush thinks of himself as a god...i honestly think bono thinks he’s christ. dont’ get me wrong he’s very talented and I would lol i knwo this is stupid sleep with him...but on a more serious note that whole mtv thing didn’t truly focus on the greater root of the evils in africa...hiv is so out of control in africa because politicians and religious leaders both tell the masses that it doesn’t exist..and that drugs the red cross gives them to treat it are actually poisons. ANd the stravation has to do with the excessive amount of children being born in africa...if you can’t feed yourself why on earth are you having a child. And as for third world debt...if I ran up my credit card and took out loans etc and couldn’t pay them back I would be in jail which is where all the warlords and politicians of africa should be for driving thier continent into ruins...

Of course there is something with Irish and music. The roots of the music we all love (I guess, since we all are here as Rox-fans) has their roots in Ireland. That is the base of Country music that influenced rythm’n’blues to create Rock and roll. So the music we like has afroamerican and Irish roots.
Even more, since the music we have is Pop, you should remember pop owes a lot to the British Islands. And Liverpool! Pop was invented by the Beatles. If I don’t remember badly, “Mersey area” (Manchester-Liverpool “conurbation”) has many irish inmigrants and their culture may have influenced also the pop music. Even people like the Gallaghers said once (about making a song for the England ’96 Football Eurocup) “let Blur do that, they are English, we are Irish”... or something like that :D
vaxjoe said on March 11, 2003 20:30:
This is not bout politics its about music...u either like them or not...and dont compare Bush to Bono...he can think whatever he wants as long as he makes good music...now Bush is another chapter...i dont know if hes God but for sure hes the Antihumanist since hes mad with wars while everyone else in this planet says NO to him and his war plans!
vaxjoe said on March 11, 2003 20:49:
@ Aaso: yes u were right...i saw their greatest hits cd earlier , it includes that song u mentioned...its referred as “new song” maybe thats why i didnt know it :o)

Oh, by the way, didn’t Ireland also win the European songcontest 4 times in 5 years or so?? It was the beginning of the 90’s.
Th_Th said on March 12, 2003 16:06:
Oh, and the famous Riverdance and Lord of the Dance are Irish of course!
I have got a thing about Irish Music! ;-)
harriej said on March 12, 2003 16:23:
Irish people are cool!!
Sometimes I wish I was from Ireland.
I have been there on holiday last year and all the people over there are very kind.
For them it doesn’t matter who or what you are, they just accept you the way you are.
I will certainly go back in the near future.
Th_Th said on March 12, 2003 16:26:
Well, the Irish are not that nice really! lol
Me, being a German in Ireland, I find it quite hard sometimes, being calles a nazi uncountable of times just walking down the street etc.
But this is nothing unique about Ireland, that is the same all over the World. No matter where I go, people cal me a Nazi, quite annoying! ;-)
But I think in general the Irish are a really cool nation. They are really relaxed and laid back. Sometimes even too laid back! ;-)

the 2 best thing about irish peopel is they eat potatoes and they drink alot :)
Santi said on March 12, 2003 18:13:
In fact is not “Irish music”. Irish folk is a “subgenre” of Celtic music, so I guess Th_Th that you like Celtic. I love Celtic Music, in fact I got into that thanks to The Corrs (their first album was so much folky!). But now I realise there is so much Celtic Music around!
Btw, for those that think Spain is bullfighting, paella, beaches and flamenco, celtic music is a big part of culture in Northern Spain (from where I come from). Galicia and Asturias are recognised Celtic Nations, and this culture reaches also Cantabria and Basque Country (I am from there :P). So I feel it very much mine! You should try some Galician and Asturian music... amazing!

I met Bono last year in Dublin @ a Heart concert no less! The man is a god and I fancy him rotten, lol.....their music......anthemic but sometimes too far up their own arses @ times! I still love them, as their lyrix r powerful! Hold Me, Thrill Me, One, Elevation and the entire Achtung Baby & Joshua Tree efforts indicate why they r where they r in the rock god royalty checklist:-))))

Do you honestly believe this guy gets called a Nazi “all the time”. He says he gets called a Nazi just walking down the street and this happens to him in whatever country he is in?
Have you not noticed anything at all about his posts?
