KENT?

Anyone know any good websites which I can download some music videos by Swedish group Kent??

Anyone else into there music???

They’re on KazaA lite. I’m very on Kent music, I think they’re the best Swedish band right now, but don’t tell Roxers :p

@ santi: Shhhhhhhhh!!! ;-) You’re right though... :-)

LOL
nobody will know ;)

I think the best singer is Eva Dahlgren but ssssh too :P

Have you realised ON sounds very much like Kent’s last album Vappen och Ammunition? :O

Oh I am so glad I am not the only one that thinks they rock....

Which is your favourite song from them? :)

@ Santi

Musik non stop
Revolt III
Stoppa mig Juni (lilla ego)
Dom andra
Sverige
FF

What about you?

Why don’t you use Kazaa? It can be so useful.

I like IF YOU WERE HERE and MUSIC NON-STOP very much.

Ok I just gotta ask... what is this Kazza thing??? am I missing something????

http://www.kazaa.com/us/index.php
you can download the software and then easily search for whatever you like such as mp3s, clips, pictures, softwares and so on. (*_*)

Thanx!!!

My favourites are:

Berg&dalvana
747
Kärleken väntar
Dom Andra
Saker man ser
Nu när det blåser på månen
Längtan skala 3:1 (What a wonderful lyrics!!!!!)
Chans
Kevlarsjäl
Rödljus
En himmelsk drog
Musik non stop
...
(I’ll stop because I think I could go on forever :D)

By the way, if you’re on Kazaa I recomend you to get their last video, “Vinternoll2”, I share it in .mov (quicktime) and it’s just greeat ;)

Hey! I love Kent too!

I have a question: can anyone help me find the B-sides of the V&A singles??? Esp. “VinterNoll2”?
They’re always busy at WinMx, and I just can’t buy the singles (long story)....
Snälla! :)

I have it
Vinternoll2 at least :D

Thank you, Santi!!
I managed finally to d/l VinterNoll2 from WinMX! :))
But I remain searching for the rest:
* Vintervila (new version of 1994 Havsanglar demo) (Dom Andra single)
* Lamnar (Karleken vantar single)
* FF (new version) (FF single)
(maybe someday... :)

I got those others song these afternoon in Kazaa! The one of FF I haven’t been able to find it though...

Did you manage to get them or....?

for anyone not aware kazza includes spyware ans it aso doesn’t screen well for viruses

I actually saw Kent live in NYC, opening for the Cardigans on their Gran Turismo tour. I thought they were pretty good, but they didn’t blow me away either. Their style was not enough of the Swedish powerpop I like, a bit but not enough, more like an icy Pink Floyd or something. Um, don’t get me wrong, they didn’t SUCK, I thought Kent were kinda cool, just not what I was expecting. Then again, I haven’t heard their stuff since that first English album and my brain might be more receptive to Kent’s sound now, hmmm??

To be honest, besides Roxette, the best Swedish band I have heard recently is THE SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES. I also dig the Hives, the Merrymakers, Grass Show, and Sahara Hotnights.

@ Santi: No, not yet. It’s kinda hard with d/l-ding these days for me...
How about FF? It’s strange you can’t find it, it’s on the same single as VinterNoll2 after all... (or maybe it isn’t so different so no one had ripped it :)

@ powerpoplarry: For me every Kent album is better than the previous. Most songs on the first 1 don’t do it for me, but the last 2 are just amazing! Esp. “Vapen & Ammunition”! You ahould try and get at least that one. And give it some time even if you don’t like it at first, it may grow on you. :)

Soundtrack of Our Lives are cool, Per likes them too :). And I also like Sahara Hotnights, their debut CD rocks!! :)

@powerpoplarry: Kent in English is not as good as in Swedish. In Swedish their texts are more meaningful and they match better the music. All their songs are thought to be in Swedish and 2 of their albums were dubbed into English... but it’s not the same.
And well... they never tried to make “powerpop”... Swedish music is more than power pop. Maybe if you want to hear them in that style you should listen to the songs “Vinternoll2”, “Revolt III”, “Om du var här”... But they don’t wanna be powerpop, they just make music... and they do it wonderfully :p Listen to “Dom Andra” or “Kärleken Väntar” to hear them at their best!

@ixtlaner: Do I pass them to you somehow?

@ Santi: (Sorry for this delay, I just haven’t been online for a week.)
That will be very nice of you!! I’ve talked to i_jera and she said it would be OK if she recevies them via MSN messenger. If that’s fine with you too....

@powerpoplarry:yeah, Saniti’s right, but there’s more: even if you don’t understand Swedish you can enjoy their music: the lead singer uses his voice like a musical instrument! Or is it the way he writes that makes the Swedish lyrics match the sound of the songs so well...

I love Kent too, of course! I just don’t understand how some people doesen’t like Kent. Kent’s music is everything a great music should be. I have seen Kent’s couple of time live too. Here’s my favourites:

Pärlor
Music Non-stop
Om du var här
Livräddaren
Kräm
Blåjeans

Btw, Kent is Swedish-Finnish band :)

Well... Eskilstuna is full of Finnish inmigrants, it was not so hard that Kent was half Finnish :D

So I understand i_jera has managed to download the songs from KaZaA and I’m getting them from her! :o)

Yeah, she thought it was easier :D

Thanx, guys :)

I’m so happy - yesterday I bought Kent’s latest marvellous CD “Vapen & Ammunition”!! My first Kent CD :)! “Big deal”, I hear you say ;). Yeah, if you live in Sweden or Western Europe - sure it’s so.
BMG’s lecensee where I live haven’t got a clue Kent exist, at least not in their catalogue ;) so it’s impossible to order them (let alone - release them here! Ha!)
So I still can’t believe I found the CD, it looks perfectly original, tho it was sold where pirated CD’s and mp3-CD’s (sure also pirated :) are sold (!!) - not even a record-store.... and it is so cheap! o_o
The bad thing is it has the “TBH copy protection” and my PC finds it too suspicious to play. But that’s what mp3’s are for! :P

Hope they have one more copy of the album left for i_jera! :)

OK, guys, we need help: a friend of mine has a radio-show and wants to make a program dedicated to Kent (yeah!) so she needs 110 min of Kent music. 2 songs in English, the rest in Swedish.
The choice, as you can imagine, is very hard, so I’m asking you for help!!
These songs are in for sure:
- Kent: Ingenting någonsin
- Kent: Ingen kommer att tro dig
- Verkligen: Avtryck
- Verkligen: Kräm
- Isola: If You Were Here (1-st English)
- Isola: Innan allting tar slut
- Isola: 747 (editted - 4:22)
- Isola (En): Velvet (2nd English)
- Hagnesta Hill: Revolt III
- Hagnesta Hill: Stoppa mig Juni
- Hagnesta Hill: Stanna hos mig
- Hagnesta Hill: Berg & dalvana
- B-sidorna: Längtan skala 3:1
- B-sidorna: Noll
- B-sidorna: Rödljus (or maybe Rödljus II ...??)
- Vapen & Ammunition: Sundance Kid
- Vapen & Ammunition: Pärlor
- Vapen & Ammunition: Dom andra
- Vapen & Ammunition: FF
- other: VinterNoll2

So that makes 1:24 h /84 min/, and there are like 26 minutes left....
Any ideas (excluding the first 2 albums)???....
Pick the catchiest in your opinion, the lyrics don’t matter cos Bulgarians don’t understand Swedish :).

Please don´t forget SOCKER! My all time fav!

Saker Man Ser!!

And well, why doesn’t he choose some of the songs that were released as singles in “Hagnesta Hill”? (Anyway I’m glad to see Berg&Dalvana.... it’s my fav Kent song!!! :D) Like for example:

- Himmelsk Drog
- Musik non Stop
- Kevlarsjäl

I also think “Chans” and “Spökstad” sound good, from the B-sides CDs. (Rödljus I is better than Rödljus II)

What about Kärleken Väntar?

Who are KENT?

Kent are a rock group from Sweden.... check out there website @

http://kent.nu

or there forum @

http://fakediy.net

Thanks suburber & Santi! The show will most likely be on March 21st (Friday), so we have a little more time :)
To answer the questions:
Mainly I am “in charge” of the playlist, but my friend has some preferences too, which, sadly, do not include “Socker” and “Kärleken väntar”...
As for singles: I don’t think I should chose a song because it has been a single. There are far too many other good songs. I’m a liiittle fed up with Himmelsk drog & Musik non stop. Then again, one of them definitely will be in - would be nice for the listeners to hear a familiar (maybe) tune.
So all of those you mentioned, Santi, are strong candidates in my list too :)

... of course, I could just pick the rest 5-6 songs at random, but... I want the tracklist to be as good as possible :). So I just need to hear more opinions. Keep them coming! :)

I think “Nu när det blåser på månen” is a really very good song.

You gotta put Music Non Stop/Musik Non Stop (track 3) on there from Hagnesta Hill, it’s one of the best!!

OK. I think you’re right, we can’t do without “Musik non stop”! I think my friend dind’t like it much, but most people love it, so... :)

Yeah, Rödljus is better than Rödljus II. I also like “En helt ny karriär”’s first version better. Wonder why had they make those new versions, and why both are slower...?

Now, some of those tracks will be in:
Kent: När det blåser på månen
Verkligen: En timme en minut - gorgeous track..... (drawback: whole 8 minutes, some might fall asleep :)
Isola: Saker man ser
Isola: Livräddaren
Hagnesta: Musik non stop
Hagnesta: Kevlar själ
B-sidorna: Bas riff
B-sidorna: Önskar att någon...
B-sidorna: En helt ny karriär

Musik Non Stop was the first Kent track I heard that got me hooked, anyone know where I can download the video for it? or even if Kent have a DVD avail with videos on?

Sorry, Ally, I do not know. I don’t think Kent have any DVD out.
As for the video: there was a channel on IRC by some Swedish guys (one of them a TDR-user: firestar or something) that had loads of videos, they must have it... Hope that was somewhat of a clue...

Musik non stop video is on KazaA, I downloaded it from there :) You can watch some of their videos in their website, like “Chans”, “Kärleken Väntar” or “Dom andra” ;) It’s the same place as the forum, but clicking in “Musiken” and then “Video”.
“FF” and “Vinternoll2” were both available on Aftonbladet website and KazaA in .mov format. :)

They ROCK!!!!! THEY ALWAYS WILL!!!!
I love the!!!!

I still cannot work Kaaza.... must be me....

Well, I think my brain might be more receptive to Kent’s sound now, and as long as the music is good, language doesn’t matter to me. I focus on the music more than the lyrics, that’s how I can get into anyone in any language. Just ask Nelina about my love of Greek singer Anna Vissi’s music, LOL!! Maybe the fact that Kent are part Finnish, their music doesn’t exactly fit in the Swede mold.

My latest 2 Swede discoveries: The Sounds (AWESOME!!) and Lambretta (REALLY good!! I saw them live by chance in a Swedish festival at NYC’s CBGB’s, and was impressed. Yesterday, I came upon Lambretta’s self-titled second album at a used record store, and it was cheap enough, so I bought it. I listened to it a coupla times before buying it, just to make sure I liked it enough, and I sure did. Lead singer, Linda Sundblad, is great!! Plus, she’s gorgeous too!!

Anyone else here Lambretta fans?? They are a bit commercial, yes, but the writing is good, the playing rock solid, and the production is massive!!

Hey, this is just added, I listened to the album again and realized something. Linda’s voice is a bit similar to Kylie Minogue!! Sooo basically, Lambretta are like if Kylie was the lead singer of the Manic Street Preachers. The music has metallic hard rock elements, but it’s not really METAL, it’s more hard-edged melodic modern rock, not unlike the Manic Street Preachers!! And Linda’s Kylie-ish voice makes for a unique aural cocktail...

I’ll see them live (again:) on next month when they come to play here in Provinssirock-festival. Nice :)

Yeah, I used to like Lambretta’s “Bimbo”, but “Creep” is awful. I don’t know, don’t like them much. Kent will stay the top of Swedish pop-rock for a looooong loooong time!!!! :D

Go JOCKE! :P

Oh Santi, I LOVE “Creep”!!!! Such a catchy chorus, and the song, overall, is well-crafted. I actually saw Lambretta live, and that song caught my ear from the first note they played. Sorry you don’t like Lambretta much. Um, I haven’t heard any recent Kent stuff, just the English one from 1998, and it DEFINITELY was not powerpop/pop-rock, more like epic proggish rock, somewhere between U2 + Radiohead. Not that that’s a BAD thing, uh-uh, they just are not pop, from what I heard, so Santi, Kent are not that kind of music. Maybe they evolved into powerpop??

Download, buy, find a Swede to lend you, steal or do ANYTHING to hear the song “Dom Andra”. Then tell us :D

@powerpoplarry

I could have sent you a copy of Dom Andra (since we live so ’close’ to one another) , but that’s just not possible now since a certain swedish girl down the street, who shall remain nameless, ELISABETH SENDER, broke the ONLY Kent cd we had. Well done Elisabeth. WELL DONE. (i guess it’s to repay me for telling everyone she’s under 21 when we viset bars...)

I love the song that goes something like: ’BURN MONEY, BURN...’ i don’t know the name of the song. But Dom Anda IS really cool.

’burn money burn’ - KÄRLEKEN VÄNTAR

You mean “Kärleken väntar”, that was the second single and one of my favs now too. Yeah, the new CD is just great, I would say the best of all ever released by Kent (and that’s a hard thing!).

’KÄRLEKEN VÄNTAR’ rocks!!

And ’Socker’!!!!!!!!

Okay, ignore above comments and simply remember: KENT ROCKS!!!

And “Elite” :D And “Sverige”... :D

The last album is a MASTERPIECE :)

It could be considered as a masterpiece if you wanna fall asleep or just die of boredom...

Just don’t get it! :(

They are all masterpieces....

Roxette’s TBH is the heaven of boredom :D

Is it just me, or is animalkingdom in a very BAD mood today? It’s okay - we all end up there from time to time...

Yes, I’d love to find a copy of that Kent CD, I’ll look at import stores. No backup copies Bubbles?? ;-D
What’s the website address?? Maybe I can listen to those songs online??

Yes Bubbles, nail Elisabeth for her Kent damage!! ;-)

http://www.kent.nu/

I got all the songs on KazaA, but you can always buy it at http://www.skivhugget.com/

Ha. Ha. Ha.

Well at least I gave the group some credit for playing and wasted MONEY on it!!

I also have their official CDs, I just couldn’t buy this one. The others I bought them in Stockholm when I lived there and I don’t regret buying them. I’m not as wealthy as to buy everything that I want and that’s why I couldn’t buy this one, but however, when I’m back in Sweden Norway or Denmark I’ll make sure to put this one in my basket.

Today is Sweden’s national-day and Kent play in front of Stockholm in the Olympic Stadium!

Does anybody go there? I bet they will have more attendance than Gyllene Tider and maybe even more than Springsteen! :P I WANNA GOOOOOOOOO! :’(

Ok ok, another year :p

I finally just got the English version of HAGNESTA HILL... it’s is really weird listening to it in English, almost sounds double dutch... so far I prefer the Swedish version!!!

I never listen to it actually. I have it on MP3, just have on Cd the Swedish version, because I think the songs sound much better in the original language. English doesn’t match their music too well :s
In fact, the only song that I like to listen to in English language is “Celsius” from the “Isola” album :p

I think nobody likes English Kent.

I am agreeing... I play it but I can’t help singing the Swedish version.... as you said sounds so much better in their own language...

i like english versions of albums better... maybe the reason is that i can’t understand any word in swedish ;)
