It Hurts = A cheap copy of Better Off On Her Own

Have you noticed that the chorus of It Hurts has exactly the same melody as Better Off On Her Own?
And I know / ’Cos
You know / She’s gone
It hurts, / She said
it hurts to be alone / she’s better off on her own
Your arm / She turned
your arm / her head,
On a one way train going down / much better off on her own
Or am I just going mad?

well, there is some likeness, but not that much to call It Hurts a cheap (cheap... really?) copy of Better Off On Her Own.
Alfonsette said on December 29, 2002 21:34:
Yes it’s very “similar” in the chorus
I also posted it somewhere
But it’s not a cheap copy, I’d say a PERfection
It hurts is much better

Get ready for:
“It Must have Been Love” = cheap copy of “Mary Had a Little Lamb”
“Fading like a flower” = cheap copy of “Do Re Mi Fa”
and so on ;)

@ eddie
We don’t need that sarcasm, it’s true that “BOOHO” and “It hurts” have the same chorus

Never noticed this, lol. Now that you point it out, I do hear the similarities in the melody.
But actually, according to the liner notes (as Boykie pointed out above), “Better Off On Her Own” was recorded in March 1999 and “It Hurts” was recorded in March 1998. So, wouldn’t “Better Off On Her Own” = a cheap copy of “It Hurts.”
;)

Although there is some likeness ’It hurts’ is a much better song and I have no idea why they would have left it off HAND it is a lot better than some of the other stuff on there!

Each song of Roxette has some special... Each song of Roxette is something singular :-) Maybe it is little similar but each song tell other way. :-)
I love all songs from Roxette because they are great! :-)

A song is never cheap to record, so maybe the title for this thread should be “an expensive copy of” :D
Anyway I guess Better Off On Her Own or It hurts, whatever it came the first is cheaper than Breathe... that is supposed to be a fully produced song :D
@Jason: That it was recorded first doesn’t mean it came first, maybe the other was years lying around without being recorded... any thing can happen.
And let’s remember the composer for both songs just has 1 head. It ain’t a crime that some songs sound like others, it’s something completely normal...

I also love the vocals in “It Hurts.” They are very powerful and reminiscent of the vocals in “Wish I Could Fly.” Very close I think. :)

So It hurts was written before than BOOHO?
Maybe Per never included these songs on HAND because he noticed that they were quite similar each other. who knows...

ok, i agree, you can sing both songs to both melodies, but it’s not a cheap copy! They are both GREAT

“Your arm / Your arm”?... Say... Isn’t it more like “You’re wrong / You’re wrong”?... Well that’s what I’ve been singing along all this time anyways. :o) Hmmm... *wondering now*
deja_vu said on January 5, 2003 23:52:
it does has similiar in melodies, but still it’s not a cheap copy as you mentioned before.

@m-cvk: Thank you. :) Makes more sense than “your arm / your arm” for sure! :P
