No Doubt

I thought this may be worth a try, if anyone is a fan of the Group ’no doubt’, and anyone has the Mp3 song or ’Bathwater’ the UK mix version, could they send it to me, i cant get hold of it anywhere.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QqJ0hUyEDU

only song I enjoyed was don’t speak, it was tolerable
but the band sucked, and the music that she makes now sucks even more.... commercial junk for mainstream radio listeners, that’s what it is

mm ok so i take it your not a fan ! thanks for letting me know your opinion it was very much called and asked for (sarcasim very much intended LOL.)

it’s a message board, and one has a right to express their opinion....especially when others pollute it with topics about lame pop-rock top- 40-radio junk heard everywhere by everyone

That last comment was nice!! lol

Well, I like No Doubt and have all their albums, and I think Bathwater is one of their best songs!! I’m not sure about the UK Mix. I think it’s on the It’s My Life single. They released it as a double A-Side. I have the single but it’s in a box somewhere. If you want me to dig it out let me know!

Some people would say that roxette is “commercial junk for mainstream radio listeners”....

bland top 40 inno-pap... ;-) But sod it, I likes what I like!

’Even if I am in love with you. All this to say, what’s it to you?’

yeah Rox is commercial, i agree
well when tone-deaf No Doubt can create songs like IMHBL, Listen to your heart, the Look etc etc than I will respect them. But they can’t, so they are commecial top 40 crap being thrown at unsuspecting radio listeners.

and I see no punk influence in Roxette, so NO they are not like No Doubt, and no one who knows anything about quality aor or pop music would ever make that comparison.

My point was that Roxette is just as commercial as No Doubt. And you not liking No Doubt is not a question about quality music, its a question about music taste. I love No Doubt! not all their songs and not as much as I love Roxette, but still.

It’s not just a matter of being “commercial”, it’s also very poor when it comes to melodies... no big choruses, not big hooks, nothing

I did point out that I enjoyed one of their songs, but that’s it, all their other singles were bad

No Roxette is not as commecial as No Doubt....at least not in US. Proof is that I never hear solo stuff by Per or Marie on tv or radio...... but that horrible solo stuff of Stefani is everywhere, and people buy into it. She sold crap to people when with No Doubt, and she still sells loads of crap

gew is just liek justin timberlake,, if it was for the 20 prodoucers behind them they’d never have solo careers, all their crap sounds the same, no doubt was good very early in their career before they went main stream, they went on to suck massively, proof is when their biggest hit in the last 5 years was a cover of a forgotten 80’s song, I hope roxette never caves in and does a cover as a single!

“forgotten 80’s song”?

by whom? those who listen to lackluster No Doubt music? Because people that listen to quality pop-rock remember Talk Talk very well, and could tell how crappy ND version was with that 90’s punk-pop sound

I once read that No Doubt was to Ska what Black Eyes Peas is to Hip Hop... might be true.

I used to like them anyway. Gwen Stefani solo is so crap! Sorry if I hurt certain sensibilities, but apart from “What are you waiting for?” I just didn’t like her last stuff.

Invisible_man thank god i have an hang over and really dont give a s**t what ya think lol.

pwbbounce It was on ’It’s my life’ single, but iv been trying to find it as mp3 for my ipod, i may have to buy the single buts its old single and not cheap lol. If its not too much trouble i would adore the song as it has a more 80’s feeling that single re release mix version. If it is to much trouble its ok im sure i will find it somewhere :-)

Roxette is so commerical it hurts and i love it LOL .

Just because roxette is not successfull in usa anymore it doesent mean they are not as commercial as no doubt.. Songs like The Centre Of the heart, stars and One wish ( not to mention IMHBL, LTYH) are made for the charts! ´Here in sweden we hear Roxette, gessle ( per is #1 at the moment in the charts) much more than No doubt or gwen stephani. Does that means that roxette is more commercial here in sweden than no doubt?

“Roxette is so commerical it hurts and i love it”- I agree =)

there’s good commerical and then theirs commercial crap, commercial crap is noise like no doubt and maroon 5 and ace of base, quality music is roxette. Whether or not they are commerical i never saw roxette in teen magazines here in the usa and they never doctored their image or their music to be kiddie frindly, they never ever sold out, not many bands can say that anymore!

pwbbounce your great mate, thanks so much thats spot on perfect , a HUGE THANKYOU :-DDDDd made me happy bunny lol.

I agree to disagree coyboyusa
i like ace of base, and they never sold out, and just like Roxette or Cardigans were very underrated here in US....while other lesser talented US bands prospered. Bridge lp is a pop masterpiece...from an actual band writing their own material

and maroon 5 is ok, though guy’s vocals do get annoying

“Commercial junk”

some people seem to be too concerned with first word, when you really have to take it as a whole.

Roxette, while pop and commercial, craft the most beautiful, melodic tunes that truly caress the ear. I can’t say the same thing about No Doubt, they are like anti-roxette i think, their songs sound like an elephant stepped on their ear. Sorry

No Doubt also made some great tracks that “caress the ear”. And that doesent mean that I dont know anything about quality music...its just my taste... And speaking of commercial..Im sure Roxette have sold more than No Doubt. Anyone has the sales numbers for the No Doubts-albums??

well just to piss people off more i think the ’No doubt’ song ’running’ which i think is great, could have come off the roxette album ’room serivce’ with a question

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zzb0FiEKEYk

No Doubt is fun - I’m glad they’re working on another album. Their cover of “It’s My Life” was stellar.

I like Don’t Speak, Running and the It’s My Life cover. Some other songs are okay, some are horrible for my taste. The video game sound in Running is cool, the same vibe as the verses in Fool. I thought they split after the GH in favour of Gwen’s solo career?

I think people should get banned for comparing this to Roxette

They had horrible 90’s sound in the vein of Blink 182, Sum 41 and all the other punk-popsters that came later. Nothing similar to Roxette at all.... not to mention complete lack of keys, which makes their music even more boring

LOL

;-P

what LOL?

Oh I forgot to add. Swedish Cardigans are 10 times better band, and with a lot more interesting sound, and better hooks, and melodies. Not that they received much attention here in US either....considered one-hit wonders :-(

The last two albums by the Cardigans (why are we talking about them in this thread, exactly?!) were great but I find everything before that absolutely unlistenable, with a few exceptions here and there... I WANT to like their older albums, but just can’t see anything to like in them. And we can’t forget they’re responsible for one of the worst, recurrent radio hits of the 90s, the inescapable, dreadful “Lovefool.” To me, at least, No Doubt are a lot more consistent.

But neither of these 90s bands is as good as Garbage, of course.

(-;

I like all of them: Roxette, Cardigans Garbage and off course, last but not least..the wonderful No doubt :P. Ohh no, maybe I´ll get banned now for liking No Doubt.. :(

lovefool was great....lightyears better than any ND “hit”
